Rally Ho

Yeah, it’s a little take off on “Tally Ho”, the old fox hunting call stating the quarry has been sighted. I was recently lucky enough to attend a Second Amendment rally. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to one. I used to go every year to the big rally held in my state’s lovely Capitol building. But then, well, life, etc. and so I haven’t gone for a few years. And that’s bad. We had a decent size crowd, nowhere near what it was back when concealed carry was originally the big push. Then the rotunda was packed. My state’s concealed carry was pushed back by the helpful NRA’s interference, which is another story. But finally it passed, and was promptly vetoed by a Demoncratic governor. The veto was overridden, and that whole saga is another story as well, but those days the capitol was packed with us “gun nuts”. There have been some years where the crowd was very meager. But we all listened to fantastic speakers, and were so very fortunate as to have two famous book authors among them. Bills that needed our support were discussed. The big ticket item everyone wanted this year was elimination of legally mandated target rich environment zones, also known as “Gun Free Zones”. By that I mean if a store wants to post a “gun free, come on in criminal” sign they are more than welcome to do so. Nothing is stopping them. But while this column is a couple years old, before the most recent gun free zone killings, the details all remain. And nicely discount some progressive publications saying that no criminal has every picked a target because it was “gun-free”. They have. This one is interesting as well. Here’s How Many Lives Were Taken in Just 8 Armed Attacks in Gun Free Zones.

But other states have suffered as a result of putting total faith in the NRA rating system. Recently no less. How Vermont’s NRA A-rated governor was ‘shocked’ into backing new gun laws

Surrounded by gun-control opponents heckling him outside the Vermont State House on Wednesday, Gov. Phil Scott (R) signed into law the most restrictive gun-control measures in the state’s history.

While some had come to thank him, Scott knew that many there who voted for him based in part on his A-grade rating from the NRA were “disappointed and angry” with him, he said.

Some yelled “Traitor!” and “BS!” as he tried to assure them that the laws he was about to sign were not intended to “take away your guns — period.” Others told him he had lost their votes and brandished signs that said “One Term Gov” and “Not My Governor.”

But it was clear from his remarks that Scott had already considered all of that.

Well, alrighty then. The NRA Got Harry Reid Re-Elected.

School attacks concern everyone. But we certainly have different ideas on how to stop them. Conservatives think making the prey less easy to attack works well in many real life situations. That’s why folks call the police and hope they don’t have Coward County Sheriff Scott for law-enforcement. But it takes time for them to get there, even if they do come in. So why not let teachers fight back rather than die trying to hold a door shut?

Well, for one. Insurance companies don’t want to cover it. They claim they aren’t anti-gun, just afraid they’ll lose money.

Oh, some are in favor of arming the teachers, so they can fight back. With a bucket of rocks, or A district armed its teachers with tiny baseball bats, urging them to fight back in a shooting

It’s like their brains say, “hmm, well, leaving them defenseless isn’t working.” So some of them double down on stupid, and say they don’t want armed guards, no guns near schools. And some say, well, we need to give them a chance to do something besides beg for mercy when there is none. So we’ll give them tiny little souvenir baseball bats. Nothing that could be construed as a weapon of course, because we are a weapon free safe zone, well, safe for armed criminals of course. School kids? Meh, not so much.

I think the answer is gun free zones liability act. Your school chooses to be gun free and your child is harmed? Mental anguish, you sue the heck out of the school district. Let the insurance companies pay, because most assuredly the parents and students will be paying the rest of their lives. However long they may be.

But enough about the NRA, and the bill to decrease easy targets.

I could go to rally, yes, it was a bit of a drive but not that bad. I realize there might be people not all that happy to see me, but thought it would be good to see old friends and show support. Not every gal gets that chance. Marion Hammer, the NRA’s top lobbyist in Florida, didn’t attend a public hearing on a gun ordinance because of death threats. And NRA spokesman Dana Loesch has certainly received more than her fair share of threats, including raping her to death, and hunting down her and her children and assaulting them.

Why is it, all the “stop the violence” “give peace a chance” “end gun violence” people are so, well, violent? Wanting to physically harm and dominate physically smaller and weaker people with whom they disagree? And progressives wonder why we need to be armed? I don’t think they really do, I think they just want to manipulate citizens into defenselessness. But all this business about posting pictures of her house? She ended up moving. I don’t blame her. Wonder how they know some of this stuff? Because I’m pretty sure she didn’t give them her address and invite them over for coffee.

Interesting you should ask in light of other hearing that have been going on at another “Crapital”. Yes I will explain that later.

Yes, I’m referring to the hearing currently going on in Jefferson City about the massive amount of data collection Facebook has been doing. I heard a radio host ask an interesting question lately. If Facebook is free, and they don’t collect and sell our data, or give it away, how did Zuckerberg get to be such a rich man off providing a “free” service and web site? Good question. They can’t, at least they can’t in Europistan. Facebook’s Dirty Little Secret

Here’s the proof. This month, the European Court of Justice, the European Union’s highest court, handed down a ruling that stops Facebook from collecting digital information about non-Facebook users. Wait, what? Yes, Facebook collects information about the online activities of users and non-users alike. Any site that has a Facebook “Like” button plays peek-a-boo with your private information. According to Facebook, that button along with the “Share” one are on almost 10 million websites and used 4.5 billion times every day.

But Zuckerberg didn’t want it to end there.

Facebook’s secret operation to access medical records

According to sources close to the project, Facebook planned to collect information about age, diseases, prescribed medications and visits to the hospitals. This data could be combined with the information that Facebook knows about its users: marital status, language preferences, activity in the community and etc. After the Cambridge Analytica and the call-data collection scandals, this crazy medical data gathering project seem to be even more ludicrous.

Oh well, it’s not like insurance companies are anti-freedom and anti-self-defense, right?

Kaiser Permanente to launch $2 million gun violence research effort

It’s not like Facebook would ever use any of your posts, like about going to a Second Amendment rally, or anything to turn you in to your anti-gun insurance company is it? And it’s not like your anti-gun insurance company would ever turn you in to the FBI because you take one of the drugs your doctor says you should take, but ex-medical expert barry obama said you shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun if you do.

A friend of mine asked an interesting question in response to the Kaiser article I posted.

Trivia for you. How did the Germans know who to round up for the death camps. After all you can’t see Jewish, and a lot of Jews are notorious non practitioners. So how the brown shirts know? Hint: If you are dying in a hospital how do the know to send a Priest, Rabbi, witch doctor or Baptist Minister? Bonus Hint: Germany had a “better” national health care system in 1898 than the U.S. does now. Be afraid of those who control your medical records and what they put in it.

Kind of goes along with the gun confiscations we’re seeing on “Mental health” grounds doesn’t it? The ones without due process.

So, if you’re feeling like a bit of activism at the moment, you can go to Gun Owners of America and send letters to your state’s congress critters. Here is their article.

Legislative Proposals to Confiscate Guns are Sweeping Through the Country You might want to do a pre-emptive strike since the NRA may be “helping”.

In addition, NRA has reportedly entertained support for some form of these bills, although it is not clear where they would draw the line.

And here’s a direct link to the letter. Stop Gun Confiscation Orders In Your State

So, about the “Crapital” comment. A friend of mine at rally has two boys. Young, I’m guessing 8 and 4 years maybe? Hey, it’s not like horses where you can check their teeth! But the oldest one calls the Capitol, the “Crapitol” out of the mouths of babes. These are awesome kids. We sent a couple messages back and forth on Face (the spy who hates me) book and he relayed his visit to his legislative rep. The man turned to:

Leif and asks if this is his first time at the Crapital and Leif responds “This is my fourth RALLY” and points to Hakon and says “it is his third”.

These are kids that will grow up valuing freedom. Because they know it takes work. So when your state has a Second Amendment rally? Take the day off, go. When our side has a dismal turn out it does not bode well. Many of the legislators with less than pure motives respond not to what’s right, but to who has the most votes to offer. And I will tell you I was told that Mad Mommies in their little red shirts are at the Crapitol every week. Every week. Handing out Bloomberg disarmament talking points. We’ve got to suit up and show up. I don’t plan to miss another one. Lobbyists get a bad rap, but unless you can take time off work every week, it helps for your grassroots Second Amendment group to have one to watch out for you. And that’s my last point, do, please find your local grassroots Second Amendment group and join and get involved. Very often they are the ones doing the heavy lifting on these good pro-freedom pro-gun bills. But for now? You can send a letter for free.

That’s Debatable

I often agree with Scott Adams. This time, I don’t… quite.

The Fake Gun Control Debate
If you see a gun debate in which both sides claim their preferred laws would save lives, you’re watching a fake debate. A real debate would sound more like this:

Honest Pro-gun argument: “I realize the right to own guns will result in the death of thousands of innocent people. But owning a gun lowers the risk for my family, in my opinion, because of my specific situation, and so I favor gun rights.”

or…

Honest Anti-gun argument: “I realize that some forms of gun control could result in the deaths of people who would otherwise be able to defend themselves, but I’m okay with that because my family’s risk would be lower if there were fewer guns in circulation.”

Well… No. Let’s take the “Honest Pro-gun argument.”

The right to own guns will result in the deaths of thousands? Make that may.

And who are those thousands? Right off the top, historically, nearly two-thirds of them are people who choose to die. My guns have nothing to do with people who want to kill themselves. Comparisons of states with varying degrees of gun control (not mention other countries like Japan) suggest those who want to die, will die. By other means if guns aren’t available.

And my gun isn’t available to them, so what do my rights have to do with it anyway?

Then there are the accidental firearms-related deaths. In 2015 (last CDC WISQARS data available), that was 489. Out of a population of 320+ million. And dropping; in 1999, with a smaller US population, we had 824 accidental firearms-related deaths.

Compared to 3,602 accidental drownings in 2015. Is anyone calling for commonsense pool control?

Guess what; no one has accidentally killed themselves, or anyone else with my gun. So again, what do my rights have to do with it anyway?

In 2016 (the last FBI UCR availbable), that leaves 11,004 murders. Presumabbly, this is what concerns people. It is concerning. And dropping; in 1993, there were 17,075 homicides, out of a much smaller population. Murder is a problem we’re already solving.

Funny things about those murderers: if we assume they were all lawful gun owners, they’d be 0.0085 to 0.0186% of all gun owners; a rather small fragment of a miniscule fraction of the people gun controllers want to regulate. Seems like a tighter focus would be more effective.

Why napalm your backyard to get rid of mosquitos?

But most murderers are prior felons, who can’t lawfully possess firearms. So this is more like napalming your backyard to get your the mosquitos in the swamp outside of town.

Worse yet, some 80-88% of firearms used in murders are stolen (so they aren’t owned by the killers). Now you’re fire-bombing your yard for South American mosquitos.

But the nasty thing we usually aren’t allowed to address is the demographics of the majority of murder victims. Just this once, I’ll be politically correct and not say it. But I will note that Chicago and Los Angeles (among other high crime cities) have programs to identify potential victims… based on their involvement in illegal activities or relationships with those who are so involved. And perpetrator and victim are pretty localized geographically, too.

And that is why the victim disarming gun controllers live for Sandy Hook and Parkland incidents, waiting patiently for those rare, isolated incidents. Suddenly they get to cry over innocent victims and demand those who didn’t do it be punished; because you never know when the innocent might become guilty.

And on to the “Honest Anti-gun argument”:

“I realize that some forms of gun control could result in the deaths of people who would otherwise be able to defend themselves, but I’m okay with that because my family’s risk would be lower if there were fewer guns in circulation.”

Only could, when rights will?

Even the Anti-gun Violence Policy Center admits that there are 338,700 defensive firearms uses in 2007-2011, 11,690/year. Yes, the gun controllers say that (pro-RKBA numbers go as high as 2.5 million per year).

So how many of those 338,700 “could” die if disarmed?

Now here my gun has been involved. I’ve defended myself (nonlethally, thank G-d) on three occasions, and another person once.

My brother was beaten to death in a victim disarmament paradise in California.

Could die?

“…but I’m okay with that because my family’s risk would be lower if there were fewer guns in circulation.”

What does my gun have to do with your family’s risk? Unless you’re planning to do something to me that would force me to defend myself…

But screw this “what if could.” We have gun control.

NFA ’34
GCA ’68
FOPA ’86
GFSA ’90
Brady Bill ’93
AWB ’94
Laughtenberg ’96

That’s just federal. At the state and local levels, we’ve got more bans, prohibitive licensing, unconstitutional ERPOs, more gun-free zones, age limits, universal background checks, total registration, moronic microstamping requirements, “smart” gun requirements…

We’ve been letting gun controller run their little experiment for eight decades (Not to mention gun control laws going back to Colonial period ensuring blacks were disarmed. Did I mention the anti-immigrant Sullivan Act?). When is it supposed to start working, or when will they accept that it is stupid?

We have gun control, and the victim disarmers insisting doing the same thing over and over, and more of it. Crazy, huh?

And honest gun control debate would start with “Since it doesn’t work, why should we continue it?”

Lawyers Amok

I live in the area, so I’ve been hearing these guys’ radio ads for years. They’re personal injury lawyers; I have no idea if they have any criminal law experience (as lawyers) at all. They certainly don’t seem to have any firearms experience.

Jacksonville law firm running ads targeting assault weapon sales
A well-known Jacksonville law firm has sponsored a series of controversial television ads calling for a ban on the sale of assault weapons.

Attorneys with Barnes & Cohen told News4Jax that they don’t care if the trio of ads cost them business, because the message the commercials convey is too important.

[…]

Gun rights attorney Eric Friday said he believes the premise of the Barnes & Cohen ads is wrong, saying the AR-15 is not a weapon used by the military.

He argued the ads are politically motivated.

“Personal injury lawyers, as a general rule, vote Democrat,” Friday said. “I see this as nothing more than a campaign ad for the Democratic party to oppose a particular Republican senator.”

I strongly suspect their real motivation is monetary, that this is an appeal to Parkland students “traumatized” by being somewhere on campus during the shooting.

But you know me. I had to send them an email.

“Enough is enough. Assault weapons are weapons of war. A hunter needs a rifle, a shotgun, not an AR- 15,” Barnes says in the ad.

I would like to note a few points.

1. There is no such thing as an “assault weapon” in the state of Florida. You’ll need to define it before you can ban it.

2. There is a no nation in the world which generally issues semiautomatic rifles to its regular troops, because they are NOT considered suitable for general combat operations. Most nations phased them out in the 1950s and ’60s. A couple of impoverished third world nations finally scraped up the money to shift to assault rifles (not “assault weapons”) in the 1990s.

3.

“The AR-15 is designed for one purpose — to deliver maximum killing power to our military in harm’s way,” Cohen says in the ad. “I don’t need one, and neither do you.”

Then why do the police carry them? Is it their job to kill the maximum number of citizens?

I think you need to learn alittle more about the subject. I reccommend this “Gun Culture Primer” as a starting point:
http://zelmanpartisans.com/?page_id=2710

I would be happy to answer questions.

And I got an answer from Glenn Cohen.

Hi carl

Read your email with interest and respect

the AR 15 is the same as a M16

it was named that way for obvious reasons

my nephew is a swat team member and carries one

he refers to it as a weapon of war

however I will read up on the subject

tks

do you own one??

Glenn

Judges must find his legal briefs a joy to read, with that lack of capitalization and punctuation.

But that beg another response.

As a military veteran who carried an M-16 for several years, former peace officer, private security officer, and informed citizen, I can assure you that the AR-15 IS NOT the same.

> it was named that way for obvious reasons

“Armalite Rifle”? That’s what “AR” stands for, you know. After the original company’s name.

> my nephew is a swat team member and carries one

Carries one what? Is it a semiautomatic AR-15, or a select-fire M-16?

> he refers to it as a weapon of war

Sounds like he has the select-fire military rifle. Not an AR-15.

> do you own one??

Do you own any valuables you’d like to tell me about?

Why would I tell a stranger what valuables I might have?

And as I typed this, another email from Cohen.

how right you are!! should not have inquired

We can disagree with respect

thanks for your respect

I was polite; not the same thing as respect. I find it difficult to gin up much respect for a personal injury lawyer who calls for the mass violation of human/civil rights, based on admitted ignorance. Note that he didn’t answer any of my questions, nor did I expect him to do so.

Yes, we disagree. But my position that AR-15s are not the same as M-16s is based on objective physical reality. As best I can tell, his is based on rainbow unicorn farts. Politics aside, this is not a lawyer I’d want representing me in court.

I felt the need to send one more email, but not to Cohen. That inquiry about whether I own an AR — “do you own one??” — bothered me. Was he hoping to pretend I told him I have a gun in a threatening manner so he could sic the cops on me, or sue? So I forwarded Cohen’s email to the Florida Bar Center for Professionalism with a simple question of my own.

To: jhaston@floridabar.org
Subject: Why is a Florida attorney asking me this?

Why is Glenn Cohen of Barnes & Cohen, with whom I have no legal relationship of any kind, asking what expensive property I might own?

Well, Let’s Just Call It What It Is, Shall We?

I’ve been intending to do another column on the reaction to the school shooting because there is just so much there that feels, well, off. But then, well, I’ll get to that.

There were of course the things that tell you how very important ending violence is to some of these respectful teenagers.

And these kids are trying to convince us we don’t need guns to protect ourselves, huh. Notice, they were only suppose to be out of class for 17 minutes. A lot can happen very fast in a short period of time, especially when there is a large group committed to mayhem.

One of the writers at The Victory Girls blog has a daughter who didn’t walk out and she gives her account of how the day went, and the walkout.

But these “marches” must be absolutely critical to saving future lives. Because Baltimore Can’t Afford to Heat Schools, But is Paying $100k to Bus Students to Gun Control Rally

The mayor of Baltimore is receiving much-deserved criticism after she allocated $100,000 to bus students to a gun control rally in Washington D.C. later this month. The reason for the criticism is founded in the fact that students froze all winter long because the mayor says they have no money to fix the slew of broken heaters.

…….

Fast forward to March, and all of the sudden—in spite of claiming they have no money—the mayor has miraculously pulled $100,000 out of nowhere to bus thousands of students to a gun control rally in Washington D.C.

“America needs to hear the voices of the young people of Baltimore,” Pugh told the students before announcing the city’s plan to fund the trip to the “March for Our Lives” rally in Washington, D.C., on March 24.

The $100,000 will pay for 60 buses, free t-shirts, boxed lunches and other amenities for a few thousand students who signed up to go to the rally.

Huh, the heck ya say?

But that Baltimore mayor has some interesting idea of how city funds should be spent, and to whom they should be allocated. So parents with frozen kids? Just realize that your frozen kid isn’t really that important except as a political pawn. Baltimore mayor announces taxpayer-funded defense fund for illegal immigrants

Judicial Watch reported last week that the city panel approved spending $200,000 for the month of March as a way to pay for lawyers representing illegal immigrants with deportation orders. Pugh said in a local news report that the goal is for everyone to receive due process.

$100,000 here, $200,000 there and pretty soon you’re talking some real money.

Now some schools in Pennsylvania realize that perhaps the horrible will happen there, and the kids and teachers should have something they could do to maybe save their lives.

Pa. school district arms teachers, students with buckets of rocks in case of shooting. Well, I suppose it’s not like it hasn’t been successful before. I’m not one of them that is going to mock the superintendent for coming up with the idea. The liberals insist they throw books at them, so rocks are a step up from that.

But let’s not have armed guards, oh no. Schools are no place for guns. Until they are. Like the stabbing rampage in Pennsylvania leaving 21 injured. Or the failed “mass shooting” in Maryland when officer Blaine Gaskill heard the gunfire, and unlike the “law enforcement” of Coward County, he didn’t “form up outside” he rushed in and ended it. Two wounded at that shooting, the attempted murderer is dead.

These things must be happening every week right? No, not so much. Not for the amount of haste with which the children are demanding the rights of law abiding citizens be shredded. Even the left-wing NPR admits it. NPR: Parkland Attack Was Horrible but There Is No School Shooting Epidemic

So what’s up with all of this? Well, yesterday I was peacefully eating my cheese and jalapeño omelet and perusing a copy of March 2018 Israel Today. And there it was. The answer. In a article written by Dr. Tsvi Sadan (TS). Am I name dropping if I say I’ve met him? It’s an article on Psychological Warfare. Psy Ops. Do you think I’m being melodramatic? Let me plug in some of Dr. Tsvi’s questions to Ron Schleifer (RS). He is a teacher of psychological warfare at Ariel University and is one of Israel’s foremost experts in the field. He founded the Ariel Research Center for Defense and Communications.

Beautiful Ariel

Guesses where this was taken?

So let’s get to it shall we? First, a note, I am not typing it out verbatim. But rather the cliff notes version. Nor am I giving you all the questions, just the ones I think relevant to the topic.

TS: Define psychological warfare.

RS: The enemies use of non-violent methods against it’s rival during war time or armed conflict to achieve it’s own objectives. This definition excludes domestic and other civil disputes from the psychological operations (PO).

TS: It seems Israel is shying away from PO and propaganda in general.

RS: It is, the government is preoccupied with public diplomacy, and the idea of conscience-changing, a wonderful invention of Karl Marx. Rather than argue based on facts and reason, Marx sought to change the conscience with aggressive sermonizing. The tactic is to shout first, and shout loudest, and thereby gain the upper hand.

TS: How does PO work in the social arena?

RS: Unlike espionage, which seeks to collect information, PO exploits human weakness to disperse information. It abuses peace, democracy and morality for political ends. It’s very clever, because who wants to oppose peace or morality? The question, of course, is what morality means. And here is where the shouting and money come into play. You will win the day if you are the first to finance a shouting campaign that defines what morality is.

Ok, let me start throwing things in here.

And here is where he shouting and money come into play

How did all the marches get coordinated so fast? And who is footing the bill? The ever wonderful Daniel Greenfield has done quite a lot of digging, Daniel has. Who Runs March for Our Lives?

This is truly a follow the money article, here’s a niblet, but reading the whole article is well worth it.

Who are those people? A leaked document reveals that the March for Our Lives Action Fund is actually overseen by six directors and is incorporated in Delaware.

So far we have Los Angeles, New York and Delaware, but not Florida.

And the next bit?

It abuses peace, democracy and morality for political ends.

What could possibly be gained from all these fired up political pawns, and all these supportive adults? Alluded to in the Victory Girls blog article above.

Democrats Reveal The REAL Reason for ‘March for Our Lives,’ and It’s Bad

Yep, it’s bad for a Constitutional Republic. A big part of the March for our lives was the massive Demoncratic voter drive going on. It seems you couldn’t swing a dead possum without hitting a mess of Demoncratic voter registration people set up registering the future Demoncrats. Teachers were tweeting about taking students to the “march” and getting them registered to vote Demoncrat. Crowd photos and Twitter screen shots are in the article.

Back to Dr. Tsvi and Ron.

TS: Are pro-Palestinian Israeli NGOs being manipulated?

RS: Of course. Take for example Jibril Rajoub, former head of Palestinian security forces an current head of the Palestinian Football Association. This is a man who mercilessly tortured untold numbers of fellow Palestinians, but who is now sought out by peace seeking Israelis. Under the guise of his new benign position……Not everyone can detect the cynicism, and if you are a kindred spirit, you will be converted. This is a honey trap few can resist.

Ok, we have politicians saying guns have no place in schools. We have idiot dumber than dog crap Republicans who think female teachers are “scared” of firearms and so shouldn’t be given the choice. And then there are those precious little political pawns being used in the demoncrats of the future round up. They just can’t see law abiding citizens divested of their Constitutional rights, and G-d given rights to self defense stripped away fast enough to suit them. They wouldn’t be caught within 5 miles of a gun! Evil machines of death, the only purpose is to kill, right Little Hogg? He’s the son of Boss Hogg, right?

Not everyone can detect the cynicism, and if you are a kindred spirit, you will be converted. This is a honey trap few can resist

Does anyone remember hearing about a school called Sidwell Friends?

Described as “the Harvard of Washington’s private schools”,the school has educated children of notable politicians, including those of several presidents. Both of former United States President Barack Obama’s daughters, Sasha and Malia, and former Vice President Joe Biden’s grandchildren attend the school. President Theodore Roosevelt’s son Archibald, Richard Nixon’s daughter Tricia, Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea Clinton, and Vice President Al Gore’s son, Albert Gore III, graduated from Sidwell Friends.

You know, that’s a lot of very anti-self-defense politicians kids that went there. There have been comments made down through the years, that Sidwell friends has armed guards. There is quite a interesting article on that Does the Sidwell Friends School Have Armed Guards? So, the children of anti-self-defense politicians are worth something, their lives are worth protecting. Your kids? Meh, not so much. The little liberty thieves might want to chew that one over.

The march was held in D.C. which is basically big gun free zone, so at least the political pawns and future Demoncrat voters didn’t have to worry a gun might just “go off” like the news media convinces them guns do. Um, well, apparently as political pawns, and when big ticket people are there, they are worthy of protection. NARRATIVE FAIL: Tons Of ‘Good Guys With Guns’ Protecting #MarchForOurLives Gun Control Rally

Again.

Not everyone can detect the cynicism, and if you are a kindred spirit, you will be converted. This is a honey trap few can resist

So, let’s just call this what it probably is, shall we? This is Psychological Warfare, I believe, straight from Marx and Alinsky. They define moral as disarmed and defenseless. Waiting for the government to come and save them from a threat. Like the school in Florida did. There was a tweet sent to TZP by someone who appeared to be a young girl by her profile picture that informed us it was inconceivable that a Jew in the 21st Century would need to “prove” themselves by owning a gun. I replied she had confused “proving” with “protecting”.

At the end of the interview Dr. Tsvi states Israeli society can be driven to civil war, and it’s our government’s responsibility to avert this threat.

Israel is not America, I will not even attempt to speak for Israeli society, but will merely say I believe in America, it is OUR, as in U.S. the citizens responsibility. Because most assuredly, I do believe this is what they are after, a civil war. It may bother them that we have guns, because they intend at some near future point to be in control of the government and perhaps they then plan to turn it’s guns on us.

Some wag commented since these children are so brilliant when they get done solving this, we need to ask them what to do about North Korea.

These children have been failed on a lot of levels. Their parents didn’t teach them you don’t always get your way. So they think public displays of temper tantrums are an expression of their “brilliance”. They have been failed by a fawning media eager to advance their own objectives and are using these pawns as props in their narrative. Few even handed journalists have talked to them. They are failed by politicians with taxpayer-funded security, who’s children perhaps go or went to a protected school. They have been failed by their indoctrinators who didn’t really teach them. They didn’t teach them history, or to think. They used the impressionable children to indoctrinate them.

And the result? When you virtue signal Lil Boss Hogg, you may be signaling more than you realize. But then you wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?

Virtue Signal

We DO.

You see, we remember very well, and we will stayed armed. We do it for our children.

NA MSD: The Cowardice of Their Conviction

The Parkland students “working” for gun control mass human/civil rights violations want to have a rational discussion of their goals, without “threats”:

Parkland shooting survivors say the NRA is “basically threatening” them
“They’ve been instigating things,” Gonzalez added. “And then, when we reply, they like shy back away. They can dish it out but they can’t take it.”

“Instigating.” Remind me again of who is calling innocent people murderers. “Instigating” is responding to false accusations and rights violations?

Grow up.

Never Again MSD was offered a a chance to state their goals, to describe the laws they think will accomplish them. The Zelman Partisans gave them the opportunity to have published a detailed column, without any redactions, edits, or commentary. Since it seemed unlikely they’d see that offer on our web site, we also reached out to them multiple times through emails, Twitter, Facebook, and even gab.ai. Their response?

-crickets-

So we tried again.

-crickets-

It occurred to me that, having grown accustomed to accommodating moderators and “journalists” prompting them, they might need a little help focusing. I reached out yet again with a request for a simple email interview. It wouldn’t even be interactive, where I could spring surprise questions on them. I provided a list of prepared questions to which they could provide carefully crafted answers without time pressure.

-crickets-

Please note that I have been unable to determine a single person authorized to speak for Never Again MSD, which provides them with deniability when some Parkland student who self-identifies as NA MSD makes vague, ludicrous, and irresponsible statements.

But perhaps I’m being unfair. After all, these are students who may be busy with cla… oh. Wait. These are former students who claim they won’t return to classes until our rights are shredded.

Still, they do seem to keep busy, with oddly nonadversarial interviews, in which the ” the moderator did not stop to challenge in what amounted to a circus show.”

David Hogg says white privilege is one of the biggest obstacles he’s faced in his anti-gun agenda,

…says the white kid getting a pass from the media.

Cameron Kasky says mass shootings like Parkland “happen everyday.”

…says one of the founders of NA MSD, who one might think speaks officially for the group. And who is blissfully unaware that school shootings are down. Even leftist NPR knows that.

“We’re the mass shooting generation,” Cameron Kasky says

Really? Then stop doing that.

Or maybe you’re worried about this guy.

Those EYES

These students do have time for interviews, or to pen a column outlining their… beliefs. But somehow they will only spend that time with over-friendly venues that won’t point out their empirical lack of clothes. Venues and “journalists” who enable their ignorance.

They’re afraid of being questioned, of being called out on facts. Afraid of anything but basking in their 15 minutes of lamestream media adoration.

That they won’t even try to state their goals with clarity and specificity indicates that they know they are pushing bullshit. They even refuse to name a spokesman who can be held to account.

The cowardly little schoolyard truant bullies enjoy their life of lies too much to bravely face a less accepting commentariat.

Their only real convictions are that they are entitled to abuse and accuse the innocent, to trample on rights, and cry when someone disagrees.

[And poor little David Hogg appears to be giving up on going to college…

…what with all those rejection letters. Perhaps those colleges saw your interviews and concluded that you’re not very bright, and likely to be a campus troublemaker. That your education to date is inadequate for collegiate studies. Possibly even, they realized that under Florida law skipping too many days of class makes you ineligible for a diploma, and won’t waste a college slot on a drop-out. Funny thing…

Back in the day, I applied to several colleges. I was accepted by all of them. I went to then-Southwestern at Memphis on a partial scholarship. And I wasn’t a “brilliant” young “victim” on whose words CNN clung.]

Feelin’ Triggered

It seems that recently Fredericka Whitfield, a cnn #FakeNews anchor had a segment talking about the school shooting in Florida. The one where the FIB ignored tips and the police never followed through on the myriad of calls they had on Bucket O-Chum. So guess who they had on as a SENIOR analyst? Yep, an FIB dude. Some guy named Tom Fuentes. Tom is everything cnn #FakeNews would want in a senior analyst and everything we would expect in a cnn analyst. Tom thinks female teachers are incapable of carrying concealed.

From the transcript:

And then the fact that they have the gun come out when the uniformed police arrive and do what they’re supposed to do, run in, they’re liable to get killed because all the police are going to see is someone waving a gun around and they’re coming into an active shooter situation. So, you know, that adds to the danger.

And then one of the things that people don’t talk about, a lot of these schools — Sandy Hook had an all-female faculty from principal to teachers. And for a woman, where are you going to hide that gun during the day? You can’t put it in your desk drawer, somebody might steal it and you can’t get to it.

You’re not going to have it in a safe in the principal’s office, you can’t get to it. On your person, hiding it — if you wear a dress, if you wear a skirt, are you going to have to wear a jacket every day with a belt and a holster the way a detective, you know, on duty would do?

It’s not a real practical solution even for a variety of reasons much less being adept is more than just pulling the trigger and making the bullet go down range.

WHITFIELD: Right. And the comfort level, all of that. You know, so many teachers have arms open. They want to hug their kids. I remember that from my school teachers. And certainly that would present a real problem of where exactly to put the gun if it comes to that.

FUENTES: Oh, yes. The kids are going to be “hey, Miss Jones, are you packing?” I mean it’s just not a good situation for it.

WHITFIELD: All right. We’ll have you back. Tom Fuentes — thank you so much. Appreciate it.

Let’s start with that “waving a gun around” part. Apparently since Tom is former FIB, that type of behavior must be de rigueur for the FIB. When they aren’t running guns to Mexico. He must think armed citizens behave that way. We don’t. Tom has seen one too many movies apparently, I don’t care if they were training films telling the FIB how we, the unwashed masses behave. We don’t. We apparently behave far better than the FIB, since I wouldn’t, and don’t personally know concealed carry people that would behave in such a manner.

Shall we move on to the for a woman, where are you going to hide that gun during the day part?

I know, hard to believe this is a serious question. But like little Julie Bandaras from FOX who apparently doesn’t know anyone who has every bought a gun legally, this idiot doesn’t know any women who are smart enough to be prepared protect themselves.

It reminds me of the story of the Pauline Kael political quote.

In December 1972, a month after U.S. President Richard Nixon was reelected in a landslide victory, Kael gave a lecture at the Modern Language Association, during which she said, “I live in a rather special world. I only know one person who voted for Nixon. Where they are I don’t know. They’re outside my ken. But sometimes when I’m in a theater I can feel them”

Then Fredericka of cnn #FakeNews chimes in,

You know, so many teachers have arms open. They want to hug their kids.

Right Fredericka, they are only capable of giving hugs, cause they’re women, right? If someone came in to hurt them, be it a crazed kid, pedophile, the unibomber, Chucky the killer clown, or muslims #ReligionOfPieces ala Beslan, they would only want to stand there and hug, they wouldn’t want to stop the SOB in it’s tracks right? Cause well, they’re women, and that’s all they can do? I have a hunch that “open arms” excuse is crap because in this age of #MeToo, I really doubt too many teachers feel safe to “hug” their students.

Ahh Tom and Fredericka, both up to cnn #FakeNews highest journalistic standards.

CNN has standards? Who knew!

So let’s talk about those elusive, at least for cnn #FakeNews journalistic standards.

From The Washington Examiner, No one would accept, in any other national discussion, the level of ignorance seen in the gun debate

Weinstein is correct when he writes, “The onus should be on those citizens who own the weapons technology, and purport to understand it, to share that understanding with the skeptical and less-informed.”

Beauchamp also notes that there’s a big difference between correcting a gun control advocate who’s “actually writing the legislation” versus “a random citizen deciding whether to support a new [assault weapons ban].”

And this is why that open discussion often doesn’t take place.

Because gun ban proponents don’t want to have a discussion. They just want to fling poo. The article continues.

It’s the ignorance of lawmakers, gun control activists, and media commentators that is inexcusable and insulting. Understanding the issue is the bare minimum required of their respective professions. Yet, so many simply refuse to learn the topic.

It’s things like Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., saying she opposes “rapid-fire magazines,” whatever those are. It’s things like Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., calling for a ban on “gas-assisted receiver firearms,” which are not real. It’s things like professional cable news commentator Steve Schmidt saying it’s harder to buy cough medicine than an AK-47, which is a damned, stupid lie.

No one would ever accept this level of ignorance and dishonesty in a similarly serious and emotionally charged debate.

No one would cheer if a pundit said it’s easier to get a late-term abortion than Sudafed. His audience would ask to see his homework. No one would shrug it off if a legislator incorrectly referred to a “trimester” as a “semester.”

……

Hell, no one would accept this level of ignorance from a traffic report. If a journalist referred to a pickup truck as an “auto-style speedbox,” he would rightly be laughed off the air.

Apparently neither Tom or Fredericka are aware that many everyday women are far more prepared to defend their animals, themselves and their homes than “progressive” women are to defend their children. It amuses me to think of the potential number of women these two twits may have passed on the street that are carrying concealed weapons.

I’m sure it would be a shock to them to know there are books with such topics covered. The Cornered Cat: A Woman’s Guide to Concealed Carry

There are great women’s concealed carry holsters.

There are beautiful custom handmade holsters.

There are shops with all kinds of amazing gear for women.

There are concealed carry purses.

So what it boils down to, Tom, is you are an ignorant, misogynistic, condescending miserable excuse for a man.

Women are capable of far more than you can even dream of. We cut down trees, we raise animals, children, work in the military, law enforcement, are legislators, take care of people and we can not only carry a firearm, we can deploy it and save the life of someone we care about. A concept foreign to you, the Sheriff of Coward county, and Captain Jan Jordan, who directed deputies to stage and form a perimeter outside Stoneman Douglas High School, rather than immediately entering the building during the mass shooting.

And ya’ll, ya’ll are the “professionals” that you and your ilk want us to leave our safety, and the safety of our families in your hands?  Oh HECK no. No thanks you miserable wretch. Bless your heart.

Because us real women?  WE can do pretty ok.

The Great Gun Control and Gun Confiscation Genesis

You know, somethings just come together as though they were those little metal slivers you used to have on your school desk and you used a magnet to attract them all at once. You would end up with something resembling a tiny metal porcupine in the end of your magnet. That’s how these articles seemed to present to me. So why should I be the only one with a little metal porcupine on the end of my magnet? Here ya go.

It all started with a post on FaceBook yesterday. It’s a re-telling of the start of the War for Independence in modern day MSM language. It’s a story I know and revere (yes, a tiny joke) from the many Appleseed events I’ve attended. Appleseed is a project dedicated to turning Americans back into the nation of riflemen and women we were a mere few decades ago.

BREAKING NEWS: Seventy-Two Killed Resisting Gun Confiscation In Maryland.

National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.

Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

And then it goes on further. Someone on my facebook page didn’t recognize it. They checked it with snopes. Oy. Snopes no less. A couple other people did and commented on ignoring history and don’t blink, it’s ready to happen. And the magnet gets closer to the desk.

Dem Rep OK With Only Rich People Having Guns

Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny Davis says it is acceptable for only wealthy individuals having access firearms if a 50 percent federal tax on all guns and ammunition becomes law.

“So if rich people can only get firearms then only rich people would be able to pay the price and if that could prevent some people from getting them, I’d want to prevent all people from getting them,” Davis told The Daily Caller. “But if rich people were willing and would continue to pay the high price, then I’d be happy that we kept the other group from getting them.”

Guesses on Demoncratic Rep having armed guards if he wants or feels he needs them? Much like Hollyweird who pushes gun control, having massive security for themselves during some show called “Oscar”. They were wearing little orange pins. I guess the pins are suppose to repel bullets? Knives? Spears? Bad reviews? I dunno, they use the tools often enough in their movies that get bad reviews. Well, at least from the few people that see them. We know I don’t usually go to movies. What did they have to worry about? They were protected by 500 of LA’s finest.

“We have these concentric rings of security that start in the middle and radiate outward,” said LAPD Cmdr. Blake Chow, the man tasked with overseeing the massive operation. “We have a lot of officers in fixed posts and foot beats keeping an eye on the event.”

Several celebrities plan to wear orange lapel pins on the red carpet and during tonight’s ceremony in support of gun control and the Michael Bloomberg-founded gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.

#hypocrisy #elitism #MoveTheMagnet

It’s like the brains in these people have dropped a chain off the cog or something. Or, as they used to say “they jest ain’t right in ta head”. Well, maybe not. Remember a study that came out in 2012 that said conservatives were psychotic? Science says liberals, not conservatives, are psychotic

Turns out liberals are the real authoritarians.

A political-science journal that published an oft-cited study claiming conservatives were more likely to show traits associated with “psychoticism” now says it got it wrong. Very wrong.

The American Journal of Political Science published a correction this year saying that the 2012 paper has “an error” — and that liberal political beliefs, not conservative ones, are actually linked to psychoticism.

“The interpretation of the coding of the political attitude items in the descriptive and preliminary analyses portion of the manuscript was exactly reversed,” the journal said in the startling correction.

Whoops. So, they really don’t think “right”. Yeah, another tiny joke.

This would explain at least to some degree why they feel that only the police should have weapons.

Two SWAT officers responded to the Parkland rampage uninvited. They’ve been punished.

Huh. Wonder if these folks still have their armed bodyguards, while the lives of we the unwashed masses aren’t worth protecting?

#hypocrisy #elitism #MoveTheMagnet

One of the other comments the War for Independence re-do commented it hasn’t happened again, yet.

Nope, wrong, it is. Dated Wednesday March 7th, 2018.

Seattle Police Begin Gun Confiscations: No Laws Broken, No Warrant, No Charges

A man in Seattle has had his gun confiscated by police after breaking no laws. The police took his gun without a warrant and without pressing any charges. Tyranny has officially taken hold on American soil.

……

Neighbors complained that the man had been “staring” at people through storefront windows while wearing a holstered firearm. He was not brandishing his weapon by any account, and open carrying is legal in the area, so he was abiding by the law.

The short article is well worth reading.

And this is only the start, a friend made a point of me seeing the following video. He thought a lot of people needed to see it, he’s right. And we don’t have much time, less than a week now.

We do not want a country run by liberals with an impaired thinking process, a bunch of elitists, hypocrites and power hungry politicians reacting to crisis actors who dine on tide pods. And as the good Congressman points out, a bunch of Repubs are going to be sellouts.

Gun control and confiscation are “Treif”

And now you have your own little metal shavings porcupine.

Words matter.

Using jargon to bully press control supporters
Mrs. Harvey Weinstein, Jr., spokeskitten for Hermaphrodites Of The World, typed a WordStar podcast for a Better Homes & Gardens investigative journalism piece calling for a ban on inorganic molecular printing presses with neutronium moveable type of the sort used by the Parkland shooter to disintegrate 17 people in a blast of gamma ray particulate radiation. In a radiation-free school zone, no less.

Well… no. Mister Adam Weinstein, an editor, wrote in a WaPo Op-Ed column that RKBA supporters are unfairly expecting those who would regulate and ban defensive and hunting tools to know WTF they’re talking about.

Words. Effing. Matter.

Gun owners want to know what you plan to ban next, so we can plan accordingly ourselves. Are you going to ban semiautomatic rifles based on the original AR-15 pattern, or are you going to ban double-single action 1911s, bullet-piercing bullets, ghost bullets, heat-seeking bullets, 30 caliber rapid-fire magazines, shoulder things that go up, and multi-burst trigger activators? None of which exist, but all of which have been proposed for bans.

The Supreme Court will want to know, too; “unconstitutionally vague” laws get tossed. Banning imaginary stuff is pretty darned vague.

Words have meaning.

In the same way that an AR-15 is an assault rifle
M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank

We tend to object to “assault weapon” for similar reasons. Weasels like Weinstein think we should just know what that means. But in most of the country the term has no meaning; we aren’t being glib and obfuscatory. It means jacks**t. Sure the term is defined in a few states…

…with definitions that vary by state. A California “assault weapon” may or may not be an “assault weapon” in Connecticut. Tell us what you mean. Know what you mean. Be able to tell the courts what it means. Be able to tell the courts why your definition makes one model of a given firearm an “assault weapon,” but somehow excludes an operationally identical model without being “unconstitutionally vague.”

You don’t like us condescendingly telling you that AR-15 doesn’t mean “assault rifle?” That isn’t condescension, that’s because “assault rifle” does have a specific, uniform meaning, and it is physically freaking impossible for a stock AR-15 to be one. We want you to tell us WTF you’re talking about. SCOTUS will expect the same thing.

You might as well be demanding a bill to make pi equal to 3.2, or to square circles. When your language — your words — don’t reflect physical reality, we tend to think either 1) you’re an idiot, 2) you’re schizophrenic, 3) deliberately confusing people to force a ban they wouldn’t actually want, or 4) All of the Above.

What Weinstein actually said:

In this kind of war over words, both sides probably need to give a little. But the pro-gun side needs to give a lot more — not just because it’s been disingenuously gunsplaining to shut down discussions and close minds for years — but because the onus should be on those citizens who own the weapons technology, and purport to understand it, to share that understanding with the skeptical and less-informed. That’s a responsibility that goes along with the right to bear arms.

In short, the “pro-gun side” needs to give up accuracy and reality. We’ve tried to “share that understanding with the skeptical and less-informed,” only to be told we’re “gunsplaining.” The fact that uninformed people with no interest in facts have trouble grasping facts does not mean the reality-based gun owners are shutting down discussions.

Weinstein is the victim-disarming equivalent of someone who heard that the Internet runs on tubes, and wants to regulate PVC and cast iron plumbing, and guarantee firehoses to everyone in the interest of “net neutrality.”

If you don’t know what you’re talking about, the “onus” is not on your opposition to reduce their IQ to your level by voluntary lobotomy.

Julie B. at FOX NEWS ate the Tide Pods

So I got an interesting, if slightly outraged message tonight.

Did you hear what that chick on FOX said tonight?

Um, just finished up a lovely Shabbat, reading a good book, drinking some good coffee and not watching TV. You’re going to ruin my good mood aren’t you? Yep.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/5744551412001/?#sp=show-clips

It would seem some newscaster, I don’t watch decided to go full auto stupid. Yes, indeed, that is a tiny little joke. Some news personality on FOX news decided to speak authoritatively on guns and the Second Amendment. Indeed, she spoke with great authority, with facts? Not so much.

She starts out with it’s the right of every US Citizen, ok, good start Julie. The the effect of the Tide pods sets in. It’s the responsibility of lawmakers to prevent those who “don’t deserve the right to own one” from getting them. It’s not an infringement on the Second Amendment to stop arming the mentally ill. She realizes some will ask “how do you determine who is mentally ill?” But she says it goes past mentally ill.

Um, Julie, when did you decide to hate Veterans, and do you kneel during the National Anthem as well?

The VA is restricting veterans’ gun rights without due process

The VA, in making the determination that a veteran requires a fiduciary to help them manage their money, is additionally making the decision that the veteran cannot handle a firearm, either. The VA is not conducting an evaluation to determine whether a veteran is a threat to himself or herself or others, requiring a medical determination verifying the veteran is displaying signs of violence, or notifying the veteran his or her Second Amendment rights are being eliminated. The VA simply reports the veteran to the federal National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) system and makes the “mentally defective” judgment of the veteran by default.

She has the novel idea that background checks should include criminal records!!

Wow, Jules, what a concept!

And any history of violence or drug abuse!

Lautenberg Amendment

Great idea Jules, maybe they could like have some kind of form the could fill out before they buy a gun and answer those questions. Like questions 12 b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i for example. Check out form 4473 Julie, listed for your convenience below.

4473

And they should require training. In Israel for example you need a doctor’s note proving no history of mental illness and drug abuse. You must also demonstrate you can use your gun at a firing range before you can take it home with a limited supply of bullets. I think she actually meant the whole cartridge though. Um, Julie from Israel Give the Good Guys Guns. Then she wisely explains to us that a correctly aimed bullet does what it is supposed to do. There doesn’t need to be thirty. Then she lectures us to think for a second, does an American need an assault weapon to protect themselves, target shoot or provide food for their family?

Gee Julie, I’m a little uncertain, what exactly is an “assault weapon”?

The she informs us we’re not applying for a driver’s license here. No kidding? Cars and Trucks as Weapons of Terror Um, Julie, perhaps you could clarify for me which of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights that you never studied in school involves transportation?

Then she rattles on that just like our police and military get the proper training to use the weapons, so should civilians. I think she is unaware that unless a state has Constitutional carry you do have to pass a test to get a concealed carry endorsement.

Then she sanctimoniously lectures us that owning a gun is a right, but it is our responsibility to carry one responsibly. Obviously from her New York ivory tower she is unaware that gun owners and concealed carry holders are some of the most responsible people out there.

She doesn’t seem to understand, it’s not the inanimate object that is of any threat, it is the hand that holds it.

It seems to me, our ill informed Julie is confusing you and I, law abiding gun owners with a bucket of chum who had been reported to the FIB, and the police had visited his home 39 times.

Julie, this is a law-enforcement failure because of a deal struck for money. Why don’t you investigate that? Why doesn’t that bother you?

But you did great on your cnn #FakeNews audition tonight, you’ll be great there, really.

Julie says she “wants to have a conversation about it on twitter”. @JulieBanderas ‏

Bless your heart.

Happy Purim 2018

Purim in the year 2018. In the short video 4:47 long, you can have a cliff notes version of Purim if you want to watch it.

So the wicked Haman’s plan was to eliminate the Jews, once and for all, the “final solution”. In case you didn’t know this, Haman is a descendant of Amalek, yep, the one I talked about recently. Some people think that Hitler’s holocaust was the first attempt. Hardly. But an Alaskan congress critter recently seemed to have stirred up a kerfluffle recently when he stated

A congressman from Alaska suggested that Jews were “put in the ovens” by Nazis during World War II because they did not have guns.

This is arguable? I guess, by some. But it’s a Demoncrat who wants to run against him

The head of the Anti-Defamation League has called the claim a “distortion of history.”

With all due respect to the ADL…and really, that’s not much respect.

Let’s take just a brief look at a well known time and place in history for illustration. The Warsaw Ghetto. The Jews in the Warsaw ghetto held out longer than the country of Poland. How did that happen?

Cue dreamy sequence, you know, mist, clouds, soft music swirly colors…..

Mordecai Anielewicz: “Ok, the nazis are going to come down this street here. Sarah, when they pass your position you fling your pink hat with pointy ears into their path that should totally disorient them and shame them for at least five minutes. Then  Dovid, you and Yigal grab your rolled up copies of the New York Slimes and Haaretz and attack from the rear while they are still immobilized from shame. Then Shannon and Whoopie can run by bravely showing off the safety pins on their jackets all the while screaming “HASHTAG SAFE SPACE, HASHTAG SAFE SPACE”. As the nazis begin to retreat in fear of hearing “HASHTAG ME TOO” Michael, Rachel, Leah and Josef can march with the “gun free zone” signs and hit them with those. If we are successful, we should have the nazis cleared out in about thirty minutes! Then we will hang our new nazi Free Zone sign at the entrance!”

Pretty good spiel, huh?

Reality:

Two Jewish underground organisations fought in the Warsaw Uprising: the left wing Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (ŻOB) founded in July 1942 by Zionist Jewish youth groups within the Warsaw Ghetto;and the right wing Żydowski Związek Wojskowy (ŻZW), or Jewish Military Union, a national organization founded in 1939 by former Polish military officers of Jewish background which had strong ties to the Polish Home Army, and cells in almost every major town across Poland. However both organisations were officially incorporated into the Polish Home Army and its command structure in exchange for weapons and training.

Marek Edelman, who was the only surviving uprising commander from the left-wing ŻOB, stated that the ŻOB had 220 fighters and each was armed with a handgun, grenades, and Molotov cocktails. His organization had three rifles in each area, as well as two land mines and one submachine gun. Due to its socialist leanings, the Soviets promoted the actions of ŻOB as the dominant or only party in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a view often adopted by secondary sources in the West.

The right-wing faction ŻZW which was founded by former Polish officers, was larger, more established and had closer ties with the Polish resistance, making it better equipped. Zimmerman describes the arm supplies for the uprising as “limited but real”. Specifically, Jewish fighters of the ŻZW received from the Polish Home Army: 2 heavy machine guns, 4 light machine guns, 21 submachine guns, 30 rifles, 50 pistols, and over 400 grenades for the uprising. During the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, ŻZW is reported to have had about 400 well-armed fighters grouped in 11 units, with 4 units including fighters from the Polish Home Army. Due to the ŻZW’s anti-socialist stand and close ties with the Polish Home Army (which was subsequently outlawed by the Soviets), the Soviets suppressed publication of books and articles on ŻZW after the war and downplayed its role in the uprising, in favour of the more socialist ŻOB.

More weapons were supplied throughout the uprising, and some were captured from the Germans. Some weapons were handmade by the resistance; sometimes such weapons worked, other times they jammed repeatedly.

Shortly before the uprising, Polish-Jewish historian Emanuel Ringelblum (who managed to escape from the Warsaw Ghetto, but was later discovered and executed in 1944) visited a ŻZW armoury hidden in the basement at 7 Muranowska Street. In his notes, which form part of Oneg Shabbat archives, he reported:

They were armed with revolvers stuck in their belts. Different kinds of weapons were hung in the large rooms: light machine guns, rifles, revolvers of different kinds, hand grenades, bags of ammunition, German uniforms, etc., all of which were utilized to the full in the April “action”. (…) While I was there, a purchase of arms was made from a former Polish Army officer, amounting to a quarter of a million złoty; a sum of 50,000 złoty was paid on account. Two machine guns were bought at 40,000 złoty each, and a large amount of hand grenades and bombs.

If the ADL is right, then history is wrong and the Jews in the ghetto should never have died, right? Why were they trying so hard to get their hands on more weapons? What good would they have done? Right ADL?

Poland is currently attempting to rewrite their own history by criminalizing speech. You can’t say certain things anywhere (according to Poland) without fear of incurring their wrath and a lawsuit. Yes, the death camps were a Nazi invention. But the Pole’s had plenty of their own antisemitism. And plenty of it was on display after WWII, after the nazis were beaten.

Anti-Jewish violence in Poland, 1944–1946

Anti-Jewish violence in Central and Eastern Europe, 1944–46

A Zehut member, the brilliant Lisa Liel writes in a column A lesson from the Megillah

Why did Esther want the Jews to be able to defend themselves on the 14th, when that decree was no longer in force?

Which brings us to the second thing she asked for. She wanted the dead bodies of Haman’s 10 sons, the heroes of the anti-Jewish forces, strung up on the gallows that their father had been hanged on. Not to kill them, because they were already dead. But as a symbolic gesture, letting the anti-Jewish forces know that they weren’t just beaten for the day, but that they were done.

Esther wasn’t stupid, though. She knew what the reaction would be when the Jew-haters woke up the next morning and saw Haman’s sons twisting in the wind. And that is why she asked for special dispensation to fight and kill any enemies who rose up against them. Because she intended to provoke them into it.

So why do it? Why provoke them and then ask for permission to protect her people from the results of her provocation? And here’s where we can learn something from Queen Esther.

Peace with those who want to murder you for who you are is not obtained through treaties or compromise. Nations that have economic differences or other policy differences can end wars with a compromise. But when one side is dedicated to the destruction of the other, compromise is suicidal. The aggressor must be dealt with decisively. Beaten soundly and made to feel that they have absolutely lost. Otherwise, they’ll just come back and try again.

This whole column is really good and worth the reading.

It is much the same with those who promote defenselessness as a good strategy for survival. Of course they have their guards, their walls and their security methods, but for the unwashed masses in general, no, no, we’re much safer without guns amongst us. So they tell us, repeatedly. They just keep coming back and at us from different directions to try to mandate us into a state of defenselessness. They try again and again. Some are useful idiots, they’ve been brought up to believe it, they watch cnn #FakeNews and msnbc #FakeNews and believe them. The NY Slimes, they believe. Some are not useful idiots, they know very well people will be left virtually helpless to stop attacks. But they want to keep themselves safe from us! Which always raises the question for me “What do they want to do, that they can not do if people like me are armed and prepared?” Well modern day Haman? What’s the answer?

And Persia, has Persia changed much from the Persia of old? Iran official threatens Israel: ‘We’ll level Tel Aviv to the ground’ Um, not so much, no.

In the Purim story it took a brave Jewish Queen, Ester, her cousin Mordecai and a decree to allow the Jews to defend themselves.

How’s about we learn from history and quit asking or letting our legislators legislate us into defenselessness. Because that just never works out well for the law abiding innocent citizen.

Purim is a holiday of joy and victory. They tried to kill us, we won, let’s eat!

And because it is Purim, and I love Purim, I have a little movie for you. YES, it does have a horse in it! A real one! It is a parody of the video What Does The Fox Say, but this one is pretty cool.
