Freedom and the Role of the Militia Part II

What I find most galling are not Republican allegations former Democrat Vice President Joe “Boss Tweed” Biden leveraged his position to benefit his son Hunter in Ukraine.1 Nor do I find Democrat accusations President Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine pressuring President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate potential Biden influence peddling most galling. Democrats want Americans to believe Trump withheld aid while Ukraine was at war with Russia. However, Putin invaded Ukrainian Crimea on 20 February 2014 and later sent military units across Russia’s western border into Ukraine to assist “separatists” in May of the same year. Trump did not place his party line call to Zelensky until July of 2019, five years later.2 Can we be frank? Notions Ukraine would survive let alone prevail in a war with Russia are preposterous. Therefore, American military and economic aid would be pointless. Why then do Democrat and Republican administrations send it? Are Americans willing to offer their sons to die for Ukrainians fighting Russia? Is the U.S. willing to risk nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine? We must address yet another reality.

Since Tsar Nicholas I, Russia has pursued a policy of “Russification” in conquered nations and territories. Imperial Russia took control of the education system, mass media, and popular culture in subjugated countries. They replaced native tongues, customs, history, literature, art, music, and holidays with those of Mother Russia. Whether the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania for those who attended public schools) the Caucasus, Poland, or Ukraine, conquered people were forced to grow up as Russians.3

Soviets added a new dynamic to Russification by transplanting hundreds of thousands of Russians to the Baltics and especially Ukraine. The Communist’s goal was to displace natives and breed them into a minority population or, at least have a forward base of Russian immigrants embedded in targeted nations. Under Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviets uprooted entire Russian villages and moved them to Ukraine. In 1926, only 8.2% of Ukrainians were ethnic Russian. That figure rose to 16.9% in 1959 and 22.1% in 1989. In addition, by 1985, the Soviets had relocated by force, over 185,000 Ukrainians to faraway places in Russia and to the Baltics. So successful was Russification (America’s open-borders crowd pay attention), that native Ukrainians living along their eastern border with Russia dropped from 33.4% in 1926 to 2.3% by 1970. In a conflict with Russia, where will their loyalties lie? With whom will ethnic-Russian “Ukrainians” side?4 The idea that America can simply show up with her military and straighten this all out is ludicrous but still, this is not what is most galling. Instead, it is the profound degree of self-inflicted constitutional ignorance afflicting so many Americans. Who asks; what part of the Constitution authorizes Congress to seize the wages and property of American citizens and hand it over to foreigners in other countries? Go ahead and look. I’ll wait. You will be the subject of an archeological dig before you find it because no such authority exists. What the Constitution does not authorize it forbids.

The Constitution’s Framers and State Ratifying Conventions were clear in 1787-1788; powers they delegated to the new federal government were finite and few. The Framers enumerated (listed) them in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. These powers are explicit. They rejected notions that, through novel interpretations later on, anyone could create implied from explicit powers. Scottish immigrant James Wilson became a prominent Philadelphia attorney and patriot. He signed the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and was a “Federalist” delegate to the Pennsylvania Ratifying Convention. Wilson described the new form of government that would replace the Articles of Confederation as a “confederate republic”. It was not a “single centralized state” because that would lead to “despotism” and tyranny. The federal government had only those powers delegated to it by the States. It could not exercise powers it did not have nor could the government imply powers into existence.5 No one is asking why the U.S. government, under Democrats and Republicans, is stealing the money and property of its citizens in order to buy and reward “friends” around the world.

I suspect to some degree America’s ruling class elite have always hamstrung the cause of liberty. They do not quite trust Americans, even their political followers, with liberty. A condemnation of liberals and Democrats? On the contrary. Republican Presidents, including Richard Nixon, George H W and George W Bush, and candidates John McCain and Mitt Romney ran as conservatives who would defend the Constitution. Once in office, as Presidents, Governors, or Senators, they shed conservative principles like snakes squirming from old skin. It is as if they believe the job of supporters is to get them elected and then shut up and go away until the next election. They talk a good game and then make one compromise after another always moving in the direction of opponents. One can find unease and mistrust of social “inferiors” even in the writing of some conservatives.

Writing for conservative The American Spectator, Daniel McCarthy notes liberals believe the mere existence of firearms, in conjunction with the election of Donald Trump, whose words have radicalized the young, is the cause of public mass shootings (PMS). For liberals the only remedy is to remove Trump from office, ban and seize all firearms in private hands, and double down on suppression of “hate speech”. This in spite of the fact police investigations reveal those guilty of PMS are typically creatures of the Left, not Trump supporters. McCarthy notes the Second Amendment’s intent was to protect the firearms liberals want to seize. He adds that a “well-regulated militia” means a citizenry well practiced with arms as opposed to a standing army. To be effective, the militia must have the same firearms as a federal standing army. So far so good. Then McCarthy runs off the rails. He asserts notions the Second Amendment supports citizen rebellion, like Shays’ Rebellion, is “right-wing folklore”. McCarthy offers as proof the Virginia Declaration of Rights, authored by George Mason that “inspired” the Second Amendment. Its stated reason for arms is to maintain a well-regulated militia “under strict subordination to, and governed by the civil power”.6 Where to start? Part one covered the meaning of “militia”. Here we turn to a story of mistrust by the people’s “betters”.

Typical high school government textbooks allege the Articles of Confederation had failed. This led to unpaid State and private debt, violence, and economic chaos verging on tearing the union apart. “Shays’ Rebellion in Western Massachusetts (31 August 1786-June 1787) was only the most spectacular of several incidents”.7 They assert “By 1786, people in many states were on the verge of rebellion…Led by Daniel Shays, a veteran of the Revolution, hundreds of angry farmers and laborers banded together, marched on court houses, and freed imprisoned debtors from jail”. Richard Hardy, like other government textbook authors, uses Shays’ Rebellion (a name invented by enemies of the farmer’s protest) as an argument for abolishing the Articles and replacing it with a strong national government of centralized powers.8 This interpretation was strongly echoed by liberal teachers (is there a distinction?) with whom I taught and the jock-coaches principals assign to teach government. Ill-versed in the subject, the latter deviated not from the script. Little, if any, of what they teach, including the book’s representation, of Shays’ Rebellion is accurate. The same holds true at the University. For example, a typical college text explains “hard times, tight money, and heavy taxes” sent Massachusetts farmers to debtors’ prison while others “lost their land”. The farmers’ rebellion was “put down” by “state troops”.9 Liberal John Garraty’s text asserts Shays’ Rebellion was the result of Massachusetts attempting to pay off its war debt with the tax bite “falling most heavily on those of moderate income”. He describes mobs shutting down courts to prevent foreclosures and Daniel Shays leading an army to seize the federal arsenal in Springfield, a battle they lost.10 Liberal historian Samuel Eliot Morison, despised by Communist Howard Zinn, author of the most popular fictionalized history passing as truth in public schools and universities,11 writes that Shay’s Rebellion consisted of poor farmers facing harsh economic conditions who demanded relief from their State government. They seized control of courts in Western Massachusetts preventing them from opening until the legislature amended the Constitution. Their demands included ending requirements debts be paid in specie and ending legal favoritism of coastal commercial interests at the expense of farmers. Morison labels Massachusetts’ Governor James Bowdoin a “staunch conservative” who called out the militia to put down these illegal protests.12 Postwar economic conditions were indeed harsh in several colonies but were not the cause of the so-called Shays’ Rebellion. Liberal teachers wield the story in classrooms as a “cautionary tale” to convince students the United States must have a strong national government of consolidated powers. Moreover, at the expense of State and individual rights.

Scare stories are part and parcel of the weapons used by those pushing an agenda to effect a desired outcome. Their creators spin and spoon-feed them to gullible Americans all too willing to embrace lies over truth. It works because Americans are too intellectually lazy to think beyond the accepted wisdom of the herd. Manipulators fuel preexistent worry and fear already planted by mass media and government schools (global warming, Putin under every bed) to create panic and alarm. Their goal is to cause rash imprudent reaction. The nation’s “Father” was the target of such an effort.

With no desire to leave Mount Vernon again, George Washington was enjoying retirement from public life. In 1786, he received visitors and letters from friends and veterans reporting on a “rebellion” in Massachusetts. Their shared goal was abolition of the Articles of Confederation and replacing it with a strong national government of consolidated powers. They wanted to reduce or eliminate State sovereignty. They weaved scare stories ranging from exaggeration to outright lies. Washington was already discomfited by hysterical scare stories he read in newspapers written by editors who also shared a strong desire to scrap the Articles. Political leaders, former army officers, bankers, merchants, and large landowners added their voices to claims the nation was falling apart and about to disintegrate into revolution or civil war.13

General Henry Knox, Washington’s former artillery commander, along with others, knew Washington was a large landowner constantly dealing with squatters. Therefore, they painted Massachusetts’ rebels in the most lurid and false terms. They told him rebels wanted to close courts to stop foreclosure on land for unpaid debt, seize land belonging to the rich, and that Massachusetts’ militias were too weak to oppose them. Knox claimed a “licentious spirit” was widespread among the rebels and they were “malcontents” and “levellers” who, through violence, would abolish all social, economic, and class distinctions. In addition, they would erase all private debt and redistribute amongst themselves the land they seized.14 Knox used the term “levellers” to spark alarm in Washington and others. It sprang from the English Civil War of 1642 between Charles I and Parliament. Near the end of that war, common soldiers discussed what improvements they desired for postwar England. Levellers wanted to abolish the tax-supported state church, establish basic natural rights belonging to all men, declared sovereignty was in the people not kings, and that government was a social-compact with the people.15

Through malice or ignorance, Knox was conflating Levellers with English “Diggers”. The latter were essentially proto-communists. Basing their doctrine on the New Testament, Diggers wanted all unenclosed land seized and made communal, farmed, and its produce distributed by the commune to the poor. England would abolish private property along with “unequal wealth”.16 Knox’s misrepresentation of Shay’s Rebellion, and use of the term “Levellers”, had the desired effect. He conjured images of rogue uneducated, poor, and debt- ridden rabble rising up to burn the homes and farms of the rich, looting businesses and banks, and overthrowing the government in Boston. None of this was true.

The men in Western Massachusetts who marched on and closed courts in several towns were comprised of farmers, large landowners, merchants, Revolutionary War heroes and veterans, and political leaders. They were typically middle class, from leading long established families, and were neither poor nor debtors. They rebelled because land and note speculators, led by Governor James Bowdoin, had taken over the government in Boston. Like other states during the war, Massachusetts issued paper notes to pay its soldiers, farmers, and merchants from whom it requisitioned supplies. Not backed by specie, inflation ensued and soon, like the famous Continentals, they were worthless. People had to eat and pay bills so, when speculators offered to buy these notes for a fraction of their face value, their holders sold them. After the war, Bowdoin and his cronies bought up as many notes as they could. Once in power, they passed a law requiring the State redeem them at full face value, with interest, and much of it paid in specie. To finance redemption, Bowdoin’s government passed a head tax on families for every male 16 and older and farm families tended to be large. In addition, the state would tax their land. Those unable to pay faced losing family farms and going to prison. The State had forced soldiers, farmers, and small merchants to accept worthless notes during the war. From them speculators bought these notes for next to nothing. Now the state was taxing those who lost an enormous sum selling the notes to speculators to pay an even greater amount to redeem them on their behalf.17 Public school texts seem to leave out this part of the story.

Is it any wonder farmers in Western Massachusetts reacted in anger and protest? They demanded a change in the law. Specie was scarce and farmers knew the government in Boston was robbing them to benefit Bowdoin and his wealthy cronies. Boston was deaf to farmers’ complaints. Their protests became larger and eventually they closed local courts to force change. They were not attempting to overthrow the government. Bowdoin reacted with force. The State Legislature granted him authority to arrest, torture, and even hang rebels. He could also seize their land and sell it. To his benefactors, naturally. He suspended habeas corpus meaning he could arrest and keep rebels, even political enemies, in jail until they rotted. This he did. Massachusetts’ militia was more than large enough to suppress the rebellion but, when Bowdoin called it out, they refused. They would not march against men they knew to be honorable, patriots, and war veterans. Bowdoin and his rich speculator friends passed the hat amongst themselves and raised enough money to hire a mercenary army of 4,400 led by war veteran General Benjamin Lincoln to suppress the “rebellion”. Following several skirmishes, the rebellion ended when Lincoln’s State army seized the federal arsenal at Springfield before the farmers did.18 Proponents of a new “national” government did not tell George Washington this side of the story.

Although a war hero, Daniel Shays was a newcomer to Western Massachusetts. He was leader of one of many groups who protested what Boston was doing. Those comprising “rebel” groups never called themselves “rebels, insurgents”, or “Shayites”. The press and allies of Bowdoin invented these labels. The same way the left uses “right-wing” for conservatives implying the latter are Nazis. Shame on you Daniel McCarthy. Instead, they referred to themselves as “Regulators” a term originating in England during the 1680s. Britons who took this name opposed corruption, cronyism, and tyranny in government. Americans knew this history. The term Regulator gained usage In Britain’s North American colonies in the 1760s, first in North and then in South Carolina. Lawyers and land speculators gained control of Carolina County Courts and used their position to levy heavy taxes, fees, and fines on farmers. They jailed delinquent taxpayers, seized, and sold their land. When the governments in each colony refused to reply to the farmer’s pleas for relief, they took matters into their own hands forming organizations of Regulators who drove corrupt lawyers, judges, and officials from office. Like Massachusetts, the aristocracy consolidated political power into its hands rewarding themselves and cronies at the expense of farmers, exactly what Britain’s appointed Royal Governors had done in the colonies. Each state in turn suppressed rebellion. Following in the footsteps of those who came before, Massachusetts’ Regulators vowed to end tyrannical government in Boston based on cronyism and corruption. Their goal was to rewrite the hated State Constitution of 1780.19

Men who favored creating a European style strong national government with centralized powers used Shay’s Rebellion to argue the government under the Articles was too weak to survive. They stoked fear and panic. “Nationalizers” created and disseminated false narratives through the media they controlled. They pressured Madison and Washington to support abandoning the Articles in favor of a yet, unwritten new form of government.20 It is remarkable that American patriots did not realize that, in beholding the rebels of 1786, they were seeing themselves in the mirror of 1776. There can be but one explanation. These men evinced a trait shared from time immemorial among those who would rule. They do not trust “lesser” citizens to rule themselves sharing the same amount of freedom as their “betters”. It is why they target the Second Amendment, freedom of speech, and challenge the outcomes of elections. Even some Republicans, conservative pundits, opinion makers, and movers and shakers believe in government for, not of the people. They want their base to vote and then shut up. Do not accommodate them. Read and learn the truth.

So whatever happened to

So whatever happened to that Governor, you know, that one? It’s like one of those click bait questions you see at the bottom of an online news story.

Illinois has a rich tradition of their governors winding up making license plates due to corruption. Four of the last seven in fact. 4 of Illinois’ last 7 governors went to prison

But it’s not Illinois I’m thinking of right now. It’s Missouri. Greitens, yeah, that’s the name Eric Greitens. He was accused of felony invasion of privacy, it was all over the news, non-stop. It wasn’t the first time a conservative figure had been accused of such. Herman Cain, Bill O’Reilly, Judge Roy Moore, Judge Brett Kavanaugh come to mind, and the media covered it non-stop. Although Kavanaugh is different. In the first cases those men either dropped out of the political race they were in, and O’Reilly left his TV show. They tried it with Sean Hannity and he said “bring it”. They did, and he informed them he would fight it and sue, they decided to leave him alone and dropped it. In Judge Kavanaugh’s case, he rode it out, as has President Trump. Governor Greitens did not. While he was prosecuted with tax payer dollars, he had to pay for his own defense. But in all those cases, when the men stepped aside the story just went away. In Kavanaugh’s case it was also different in that while it was on-going some of accusers began to be exposed as lying.

I think this is when I began to get really testy about knee jerk reactions. When the Greitens case was flooding the #MSM #FakeNews airways there were already people saying “Wait a minute, something is off here”. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, whom I mightily admire did a couple of columns during the situation.

These Five Questions About The Eric Greitens Indictment Must Be Answered

That is a fascinating column! It was followed by

Why The Prosecutor In The Eric Greitens Case Could Be The One Who Ends Up In Jail

And she should. But wait, there’s more.

Missouri case that toppled GOP governor boomerangs on Soros-backed prosecutor

Wait! What! The Demoncrat prosecutor/political hack Kim Gardner lied about evidence, hid evidence, hired a retired FIB guy who also lied about evidence. I know, it’s like that movie “Groundhog Day” isn’t it?

Soros, one of the largest liberal benefactors in history, donated $630,000 that year to a political action committee called Safety and Justice Committee. That super PAC in turn donated more than $204,000 as an in-kind donation to Gardner’s election. Soros’ support accounted for about two-thirds of her total campaign donations of nearly $300,000, according to a post-election filing with the Missouri Ethics Commission. Gardner’s platform of criminal justice reform to help minorities proved a nice fit for Team Soros.

Color me shocked.

Ex-Missouri governor considers suing prosecutor over dismissed indictment

It was a crime that was committed against me, but most importantly a crime against the people of Missouri. This was their votes that they worked to overturn,” Greitens said during a wide-ranging interview on the Just the News podcast John Solomon Reports. “

I know! Progressives perverting the legal system to get rid of an elected official they didn’t want elected. It’s just so eerily familiar, somethings ringing in the back of my mind. If only I could remember or put my finger on it. /Sarcasm

Missouri: Soros-Backed Democrat Prosecutor’s Conduct Under Review in Greitens Case

You can hear a very interesting interview between Greitens and Seb Gorka

So in addition to Governor Greitens “pissing people off” per Seb, why would Demoncrats and Soros want to get Governor Greitens out of office? I mean, yeah, he was fulfilling campaign promises and nobody really expects politicians to do that these days, but what else could have been in the chute? Translations: Coming down the pike, In the wind, In the offing, Waiting to happen?

Well now.

Missouri governor says state will accept refugees This would be the replacement Governor, the one that took over after the Soros funded Gardner pushed Greitens out.

Missouri Gov. Michael Parson (R) said Monday that the state will accept refugees after President Trump signed an executive order allowing governors to opt out of doing so, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

What? Missouri didn’t have a high enough crime rate? Needed more people for the taxpayers to support? Of course they may assimilate and become useful citizens, but I somehow think that Missourians might not be all that thrilled. Though Parsons isn’t the only one.

These 15 GOP governors are asking for more refugee resettlement in their red states

A tip of my Stetson to my buddy Larry that tipped me off on that bit.

But even if Missouri doesn’t suffer the increased crime rates, and more people on the dole there are other considerations.

Election Fraud Cases

Missouri Secretary of State: Yes, voter fraud is a real threat

Voter Fraud Changed the Outcome of a Missouri Election

Missouri, like I’m sure other states already seems to have a voter fraud problem. Why does Parsons want to add to it?

Democrat Voter Fraud in Minnesota

Who is elected absolutely has the ability to change the character of a state. For example look how settling around 100,000 Somalis in Minnesota “enriched” their culture and affected their state.

How Minneapolis’ Somali community became the terrorist recruitment capital of the US

The state that gave us the anti-Semitic, terrorist supporting, Bernie Sanders loving Ilhan Omar. Is she still married to her brother?

But Minnesota is not the only state that has been affected by an influx of “outsiders”. Look at Virginia. It used to be a nice state, lots of nice horses, lots of nice places to ride. Oh, I’m sure it had other good qualities as well. For example it used to be sane. As in respecting the rights of individuals as recognized (not granted) by the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights. Rights that are granted by G-d, not government. But all that has changed. There has been an influx of progressives, and they’ve changed who gets elected and who gets elected is who writes and votes on laws. For the last few months we’ve been watching gun owners in Virginia wage a desperate battle to hang onto their Second Amendment rights.

But it will not end with Virginia. Virginia is not the only state under attack, it is part of a bigger plan. And like the Wuhan Corona virus, it can be there for awhile before the state even realizes it’s been infected. There is a book on the plan to turn Red States into Purple States. Blueprint

“The Colorado turnaround in 2008 was nothing short of phenomenal: a once rock-solid Republican state went Democratic in a big way. And members of both parties are still scratching their heads over what happened. Adam Schrager and Rob Witwer have dug into the question for their book ‘The Blueprint: How the Democrats Won Colorado and Why Republicans Everywhere Should Care.’ –Political Bookworm Blog by Steven Levingston

Missouri does have a piece of legislation pending that may help them, although it wouldn’t prevent a Virginia style takeover. It is an excellent bill called “Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA)”.

If you have friends in Missouri, and I do, you may want to pass this along to them. There is a reference page from a group called Missouri First Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA)

And they have a video explaining how it works

Last I heard is the Bill is doing great in the house with 86 co-sponsors, but in the Senate a Senator named Doug Libla who is Chair of the Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee is holding it up. Seems he insists it be watered down. Now one would think this Sen. Libla would be a Demoncrat, but he’s not. He’s supposed to be a Republican. I guess he’s one of those “Trans-Republicans” like Mittens Romney.

A current specimen of a “TransRepublican”

So I suppose, inquiring minds wonder, how many reasons were there that the Soros funded prosecutor went after Governor Greitens, and why exactly did they want him removed? Ultimately will it end up changes the character of the state? For the sake of Missourians, I hope their Second Amendment Preservation Act is signed into law soon.

So whatever happened to? According to the video, he’s headed back to court. Sic ‘em Governor Greitens.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

I fell in love when I was 18. Back then, about 95 years ago, I was dating a guy who from time to time would get together with his brother. They’d gather up a couple shotguns, rifles and handguns and head out to a place in the country to target practice. Being the dutiful girlfriend, I tagged along at first. Till they let me shoot. Then I went because I wanted my turn as well. I was fortunate, they were all for it. Didn’t matter who the gun belonged to, if I wanted to try it, they handed it over. That’s how I came to shoot a Taurus for the first time. I loved how it felt in my hand, I loved how I could shoot it, and the results I got. Taurus, my first love……

That love has stayed true lo these many years. The first handgun I ever bought of my own was a Taurus .357 stainless. A teammate of mine spent a lot of time at a gunshop and when I was trying to make that big step forward of buying my first handgun he acted as a sounding board for me, a matchmaker of sorts. He must have been very good at it, I still have “Maggie”.

As time went by, others came to join her. My favorites were from what was jokingly called “The Vogel Line”. A line of blue (almost black, so dark was the bluing) with pearl grips and gold triggers. The pistols came with the loaded chamber indicator. Sweet guns, they shoot very nicely. Like many women, I’m not immune to pretty in handguns, horses and dogs.

Taurus .38

I began to hear rumors of Taurus standards going downhill a few years ago. But I didn’t believe it, not TAURUS!

Then I got a Taurus TCP, in pink no less. I guess I just felt I really should have a least one pink gun. Especially since the one I found was a sort of pink flamingo pink. Pink flamingo pink and hot pink are the best. I know some women think pink guns for girls are silly. I look at it like this, if a pink gun will encourage a woman to take up shooting and consider carrying for self-defense. Awesome. I already did. I am secure enough in myself that if I want a pink gun, I’ll get it. If I don’t I won’t. I have nothing to prove. But the Taurus TCP was my first bad experience. It came with the lifetime warranty, luckily for me. It’s been to the factory for repair three times for the magazine release. Which is again wonky, but I won’t send it back again. I understand the Taurus warranty now is only for a year.

That lead to me looking for a new carry gun. I got a Taurus Spectrum. It’s a .380 that fits my hand wonderfully. It’s easy to hide, shoots very nice and this one came with a laser already mounted on it. It was brand new in the box. Love……ah.

Until a couple weeks ago. I was at the barn doing chores and a possum came up out of the floor. I didn’t have my shotgun with me, but I did have the Spectrum. I shot the possum and finished chores. My horse is such a hoot. I shot once and he stopped eating, I ran around to the other side to get another shot because it’s a possum, like liberal snowflakes they act like they are dying when they aren’t. I shot again and my horse must have thought, “eh, it’s Mom she’s got this taken care of”, and he went back to eating.

Later that night I cleaned the Spectrum. It has a recoil spring that has been possessed by the spirits of the Demoncratic party. It is dang near impossible to get back in. The end of the spring isn’t tightly coiled like every other recoil spring I’ve ever seen, it’s loose like the rest of the spring. Which means when you try to put the recoil rod back in, the end of the spring crawls out the hole for the recoil rod. To my everlasting embarrassment, I will admit after 30 minutes of trying to put this gun back together my thumb slipped and the recoil spring recoiled itself and launched itself into the hinterlands of my parlour and has not been seen again. And I mean after some serious looking. As in cushions out of the couch, in the potted plants and flashlight looking. Ok, I’ll call Taurus and buy another one.

So the next day coffee at hand, I call Taurus. I finally get a live human on the phone and explain the dilemma. She comments that there is definitely a trick to getting that recoil spring in she’s heard. Yes, they’ll send me another one. When they are back in stock. WHAT?? When will that be? They don’t know, but they do get shipments every month. Will it be in the next month’s shipment? They don’t know. Basically they have no clue when recoil springs will be available.

I took the slide, barrel and recoil rod to the hardware store and bought three possible springs to try, since launching a spring in the store didn’t appeal to me. The best choice spring managed to fire two rounds before it wouldn’t fully load cartridge number 3 in the chamber. So, no success on replacement from the hardware store yet. I may try again though next time I can get up that way to shop.

But here’s my thoughts. I’m blessed, I have other guns I can carry. But what about the poor single woman, maybe a single Mom with kids that only has one carry gun and it’s a Taurus Spectrum. Now she is left defenseless because a gun marketed for concealed carry is an expensive paperweight. Great contours, but still, a paperweight for an indefinite amount of time. This is something I actually think is irresponsible. You know the gun is a P.I.T.A. to put back together. You say there’s a “trick” to reassembling it? How’s about you do what you used to do? Make great guns that don’t require a “trick” to reassemble? Second, parts? You are selling a concealed carry gun for which required parts are not available? It’s not like I wanted green grips, it won’t shoot without the dang spring.

When the nice lady told me “no clue” on the spring, the second thing that went through my mind was “Oh, so this is what it’s like when the government starts to control the gun parts that can come into the country. You may have the gun, but it can be rendered useless in about a two second spring launch”.

And that was when I came to the decision it was time to break up. Yes, it’s hard after so many years, but perhaps in time I will find another brand I love as much as I used to love Taurus. But it will take a heck of a gun to win my heart this time around. Just don’t say Glock, while I loved Gunny, I shoot like crap with those. Nor would I be inclined to lock it up under my bed. But that’s just me.

Top 10 Ways To Respond To Anti-Semitism (updated)

We have a guest writer today, please welcome Rabbi Zev Wineberg! Rabbi Zev Wineberg is Director of NeverEverAgain.org and author of Kabbalah Love: Life Course

“Antisemitism” as Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “Is the most ancient disease”.

Anyone familiar with Jewish history, perhaps with almost all of it, knows that irrational attacks targeted against Jews are just that, irrational. The word anti-Semite itself is a misnomer, having been invented in 1879 by the German agitator Wilhelm Marr. It was to designate the anti-Jewish campaigns under way in central Europe at that time.

Ultimately, all acts of maliciousness, including bullying or targeting any group or nation as a whole, originate from problems within the person or group-think doing the attacking. No rational thinker would ever assume that an entire group or nationality is intrinsically evil. Therefore, it is obviously an issue in the person or gang who is attacking.

As Jews, among the possible responses we have, there are these ten:

  1. There is the common one, not to take it personal.
  2. Fear.  Anyone with any life experience realizes there can be, unfortunately a reaction of fear. As the word terrorism implies, it is there to frighten. Sadly, for those who succumb to the fear, the tactic must be deemed a “success.”
I personally took a pledge to never fear terrorism, for the consequence of fear is acquiescence.
This explains the timid fool, who instead of standing with the oppressed, takes the side of the oppressor! This is often seen in J Street insanity, in some sort of odd version of the Stockholm syndrome. To paraphrase Churchill, “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”
Need we mention that the Jews of Germany were more “German” than the Germans! (In fact Reform, which mimicked the church (placing in in the temple an organ etc.) started in Germany and initially took out all references to Israel feeling their allegiance was to the Fatherland. And as Einstein commented, seeing both Reform in America and Germany, that people respect those who have self-respect, not inferiority complexes.))
  3. Compassion for mental instability. Friends of mine, a couple who came to our synagogue, related an incident to me. They were getting into an elevator in Colorado, and a man began hurling anti-Semitic slurs at them. The husband, with his Yarmulkah and beard, looks Jewish. I asked the wife, “How did it make you feel?” She said, “Well, I could see the person was obviously unwell, so I felt sorry for him.”
  4. Don’t Imbibe Negativity. Never believe negativity. Even, perhaps especially, if it is about you. Perhaps most importantly, the essence of anti-Semitism is jealousy. We all have innate jealousy, our primary jealousy is when we become miserable (either malcontent, frustrated or anxious thereby affecting our self-image.) This causes (as Rabbi Sholom Dovber of Lubavitch, explains in a lengthy discourse, Heichaltzu) a subconscious jealousy/hate, which consciously manifests as logical rationalizations, justifying malicious demeaning. This is the subconscious cause of antisemitism, terrorism, bullying, in fact all radical hate. Their “cause/excuses” are masking a violent jealous hate.

Content people never use demeaning violence or language. One of the wisest of Jews on the subject of anti-Semitism, no less a personage than Albert Einstein, loosely quoted from his book “Out Of My Later Years

“The Germans hated not the Jews, for they are a race; for Jews come from all races; rather the Germans who stood for power / brute barbarism (a predilection of those who have lost the pleasure of love and compassion) tried to extinguish those who stand for – as all Jews do – social justice – goodness and kindness.”

One of the primary stresses in America today – in fact psychologists say, the primary stress – is the American discord.

Two weeks before the 2016 election, I got so sick of the media circus, I went on what has been my most addictive diet – no news!

Michael Medved who is a syndicated radio show host, former movie critic, as well as a Yale graduate and returnee to Jewish practice, says, polls show that though people (in general) think that their life is good, they nevertheless think life is bad.
At a conference, sponsored by Chabad.org and the New York Public Library (a 24 hour marathon of positive speeches) Medved said, he believed the perception of a negative world, comes from the media.

Truth be told, I believed him not.

But a mere two weeks after I went on my “no media diet…” my entire mood shifted. The few friends of mine who have tried this have come to similar conclusions. Instead of seeing negative, instead of feeling miserable, one sees all the beauty, the wonderful country, the wonderful kind people… statistics show as never before, we live in the best of times! According to Gallup data, Americans are the second kindest nation.

  1. Imbibe Positivity. On a practical note, I had the privilege of translating “Kesser Shem Tov,” the collected wisdom and teachings of one of the greatest Jewish Masters, Rabbi Yisroel Baal Shem Tov. As I went through the wisdom that forever changed Jewish inspiration into positivity, love, & joy, I realized, that the very core of his teachings (a very deep Kabbalistic concept) is that though naturally, we imagine that the world outside of us causes the world inside of us, it is actually the positive emotions we hold, that paints the world. Amazingly this is the great revelation of quantum physics, namely that the emotions we hold, affect the physical atomic “reactions.”
    We create positive emotions by:
    A. Expressing our gratitude to G-d for all the good He graciously bestows (particularly, every morning, for the first thought of the day sets the tone for the day) – in fact the very word Jew comes from the word to be grateful!
    B. Our choice to unconditionally love and never fear.

C. Our confidence that Moshiach will soon redeem us all!

We see this prophecy clearly manifesting, with the return of Israel and millions of Jews to our homeland, and in general, how much more receptive the world is today, than ever before, to Jews, Judaism, human rights etc. Though the media may make one think we are always on the brink, studies show that we are actually progressively becoming less violent and more peaceful.

World Wide Battle Deathes

In America according to Pew, unbelievably the most respected religion is Judaism, and there is a 70% support for Israel. This figure is replicated remarkably in India, and in many other countries.

  1. Beat Stress. Another very important and life transforming teaching of the Holy Baal Shem Tov is, “When you see the good in the bad, the bad will become good.
When our inner world is filled with positivity, this will change the outer – so please, in response to the heinous unwarranted hate, increase exponentially in, (even “unwarranted”) grateful love, and faith. What if how you feel changes the world?!

There was a study done in Washington D.C. in which thousands of volunteers meditated for an afternoon – and based on 3,000 – previous studies it was predicted that it would drop the murder rate by 25%! which occurred.

  1. Arm. It is also very important to not have a “battered wife” syndrome. Every single Jew should  learn a form of defense such as Krav Maga, the Israeli Defense Force “judo”. As an example, a Arab terrorist came into a Jewish woman’s home in Israel and using Krav Maga, she caused him to flee. Where permissible carry Pepper Spray or a weapon. G-d-forbid to have to, but, as the same G-d who says “Do not murder” teaches, we must kill to prevent others from being killed. It says, “Do not stand by idly, when your brothers’ blood (including your own) is being spilled.” If the punks that are harassing innocent women and children get harmed (or when necessary, killed) the violence quickly, perhaps not totally, but in the vast majority of cases, ends.
Since safety is the primary goal, Jewish communities should consider organizing and implementing a Shmira patrol group. Many of the recent spate of crimes were crimes of opportunity and a Shmira group would serve to reduce those. Additionally a new system designed by Israeli security specialists, “Gabriel”, are for communities to install. This will give law enforcement immediate visual info. It would also make sense (I have written to Zaka…) – to create an app whereby anyone needing “help” could ideally just say that, and it would connect to trained volunteers, as well as local law enforcement. If you are willing to sponsor please be in touch – go to “Contact,” on my website, LacademyofLife.org

  1. Educate. Most importantly, we Jews are called to be “A light onto the nations.” We do this as the Rebbe teaches by being Jewish. We demonstrate, that man is not an animal – we are subservient to a higher code. In fact, G-d specifically chose, from all of humanity Abraham. As G-d says: “For I have known Him, because He instructs his sons and his household after him, that they should keep the way of the Lord to perform righteousness and justice;” In other words, specifically because we are a light onto the nations we were chosen. By nature, without law order and subservience to G-d, as all of human history shows, man devolves into a “man eat man” chaos. This was the primary reality before the flood, and then the light of Judaism civilized. As we call it, the Judeo-Cristian ethic. And hence, particularly now more than ever before, it is our obligation to share the Seven Noahide principles; which are the only way to ensure that the world is based on a bedrock of civility – the world needs you! Share AskNoah.org
  2. Study Torah/Chitas. This Shabbos as I was studying, a hunch I had was confirmed. The Rebbe quotes from Zohar (page 164A)
“The protection of the Beis Hamikdosh (G-d’s Holy Temple) was done personally by G-d, as it is written “If G-d protects not the city, the watchman is useless;”
The Holy Letters (of Torah) Their Protection Is Like The Protection of The Beis Hamkidosh, through G-d Himself!
Wherever, a Tzaddik goes, G-d protects Him continually, as it states, “G-d protects both my going and coming.”
The Rebbe Explains: This is connected to the studying of Torah, meaning, through studying Torah, we are protected in the same manner as, “G-d protects both my going and coming,” just as a Mezuzah!

In other words – and something I personally have discovered, and I know others who do likewise find similarly, every single morning it is critical to study, or at least read the Daily Chitas. This is available in many apps, magazines such as Dvar Malchus, Chayeinu, or through Chabad.org.

Chitas was instituted by the Previous Rebbe, and it is, to read/study the daily Chumash, the Daily Tehhilim (as it divided into the monthly cycle) and the Daily Tanya.

Many times I wrote to the Lubavitcher Rebbe requesting help and the reply almost invariably was to study Chitas – to be honest I couldn’t see any connection.

However once my, perhaps laziness or whatever… wore off, and I started doing Chitas, my problems dissipated.

The most accurate way to explain this is to imagine if you are on a ship. Now you can either face stormy weather in which all your energies are spent simply surviving or you can have a beautiful ocean, and your little bit of effort results in a smooth meaningful sail.

The letters of Torah (particularly of Chitas) are ultimately Divine names which as Kabbalah teaches, through which the entire universe is sustained. To put it bluntly, the Holy Zohar teaches, that “The Ten Sayings through which G-d created the world (in Breishis/Genesis – the continual flow of Divinity, creating reality) depends on the Jewish people studying the Ten Commandments.”

In other words, as we even just say these holy words, we produce (like flipping the switch) the Divine positive energy! Please, for your and everyone’s sake, start; – give it a week, and see if you can feel how your life is smoother, indicating, like the Mezuzah, a daily protection.

10. Vote Right. Though I am loath to enter into the political arena, it would be foolhardy to ignore. You know a man told me in our Synagogue, that his grandfather was one of nine Jews in the Reichstag (German Parliament) who, are you ready for this? Who elected Hitler! : (

So it seems, that we Jews, particularly coming from love, have a very hard time understanding hate.

The truth of how people become antisemitic when as mentioned, the vast majority, particularly Cristian, particularly Evangelical, Americans have a positive view, is directly linked to the legitimizing of anti-Israel / anti-Semitic rhetoric. Some are unaware or ignore the consequences of the “pro-Palestinian” lobby, an army of millions of Muslims (with incredible overseas funding) who are behind the anti-Semitism, in Europe and, as we tragically see, on American campuses. The most egregious legitimizer was former President Obama. As for something to become mainstream, the “higher” its “authority,” the deeper it penetrates. Many amazingly still cannot recognize how his policies such as giving Hamas tens of millions of dollars each time they maliciously rained rockets on innocent Jews in Israel, supporting the radicals in Libya (still in chaos…) the radicals in Egypt (which their army had to overthrow…) radicals in Syria (causing over half a million deaths and millions of “refugees, which) were a deliberate tactic of ISIS to spread Islam. Jihad according to Islam is also through overrunning (as Islam historically has done) populations. Historically Jihad is responsible for at (the very least) 270,000,000 murders (the most violent ideology in history, as unlike all faiths that see everyone as potential converts (or in Judaism as potential Jews or Noahides) Islam classifies people into either Good Muslim (which as we see itself is in civil war since the year 700 (that’s over 1,300 years!) or bad Jew, Cristian, (which in a benevolent Islam, may live as a dhimmi (subjugated humiliated second class citizen with zero power) or as Infidel / idolater that must be killed (according to recent accounts, when Islam invade India in the medieval period, it caused the largest wholesale massacre in human history 400,000,000.) Furthermore not only did President Obama try to facilitate the ability of Iran to destroy Israel (and the west – as his bizarre nuclear deal which allows them to have the technology to know how to make a bomb and in 2025 make them! (for in fact, unbeknown – as most people don’t understand Islam – Obama never made a deal, he made a “hunda” (an Islamic term of a max. ten year “peace agreement” in which the Muslim country rearms to attack) giving your hard earned money to fund the murderous Iranian Quds international terrorist destabilizing group, operating in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and more clandestinely, practically everywhere. You didn’t know 50% of the money Iran received from U.S. was given to them?

According to the Pew Research Center, Obama’s radical ideology has become the opinion of 17% of Americans, representing 45% of the Democratic party. What is so disturbing, is that they are the most active, vocal and fanatic Democrats. Their ideology being an offshoot of a radical believes that the “end justifies the means.” Instead of the ideal of democracy and unity, namely the “consent of the governed”, radicals (as expressed by angry – hence evil) people, ignores protocol, law, order, justice, respect, & civility, in its desire (as we saw with Hitler in Germany) to implement its autocratic ideologies.
As Dr. Kulic, a preeminent psychiatrist told me, the desire to control others stems from a sadism.
Now far be it from me to accuse tens of millions of people (17% of our country) of all being malicious, however as disturbing as Hitler with his sadistic anti-social murderous desire was, because emotions and ideas, as mentioned descend from leaders to followers, it were the nazis – otherwise normal people – who actually fulfilled happily this intent.
Of-course, as we see clearly with Brexit, as well as perhaps with the almost majority that elected Trump, people resist totalitarianism.

It is impossible to ignore that the Democratic party has followed the ideology of radicalism, and as it relates to Jews, its benchmark, is seen in the support or denial of Israel. Those who deny Jews the freedom to live in their homeland, in peace and security, as Martin Luther King said, and is obvious to those whose heads are above the ground, are plain old anti-Semites.

Anti-Semitism as mentioned in the top of this article is a fake word – you see, as people become more “sophisticated”… it didn’t appear seemly, to single out a religious group. Hence newfangled cockamamie theories, such as Jews being hated for “racial reasons” or being hated as “they oppress the Palestinians,” were concocted. If this truly was the cause, people would be clamoring for equal rights of Palestinians, in the many Arab countries in which they live!

By way of example, Palestinians living in Lebanon are denied the right to own property, nor do they qualify for health care, and are banned by law from working in a large number of jobs, 75 professions!

Rami Khouri, a prominent Lebanese journalist, wrote in The Daily Star, that

“All Arab countries mistreat millions of Arab, Asian and African foreign guest workers, who often are treated little better than chattel or indentured laborers…The mistreatment, abysmal living conditions and limited work, social security and property rights of the Palestinians [in Arab Countries] are a lingering moral black mark.”

Unless, as one Arab writes in the Gates One Institute, the issue is anti-Israel, the inhumane treatment of Arabs by Arabs is of no concern.

This proves that those who are pro-Palestinian are simply using, as those who believed in the blood-libel, a convenient libel for their murderous intent.

Need we mention, that the African slave trade which inhumanly, ignobly and reprehensibly continues to this very day, was and is, perpetrated by Arab Muslims. There are an estimated 10,000,000 black slaves who died (though often those who hunted and kidnapped were blacks, supported by Arab traders) en-route or during raids from Africa.

In simple words, anyone who aligns themselves with “pro-Palestinian” is nothing less than a neo-Nazi or a naive timid appeaser. As is well known, the Palestinians, were offered numerous times a country; It is not their own country they seek, it is the lack of a Jewish country.
This is why the mere idea of a Jewish country caused murderous riots by Arabs through the middle-east (eventually causing 700,000 Jews to have to flee homelands (which they had dwelt in for often 2,500 years.)

The real reason for the Arab hate – as clarified to me by a former Arab terrorist who converted to Christianity and wrote the book “A Mind Of Terror” (in which he analyzed the Arab pathological hate) stems actually back from (amazingly as the Medrash – ancient Jewish teaching writes) the fact that, as the Bible tells us, Yishmoel, the ancestor of the Arabs, was both expelled from the house, as well as Israel; he went to live in Arabia (notice Arabia /Arab.) Though it may seem hard for one to imagine, that there is a four thousand year old grudge (and certainly I wish not to perpetuate negative emotions – for I wish on no-one shame) but this – as we see in countless societies the shame, say in the Balkans, Ireland (and the desire for vengeance) is centuries upon centuries, and reinforced generationally. In Judaism, as we attribute our loss to our sins, we see it not as shame, but something to rectify.

Those who think they can turn a blind eye to their brothers and sisters – hoping, as we mentioned, by ingratiating themselves to haters and neo-nazis…. are seeing, that antisemitism, like a disease – once going more mainstream, can become viral.

Bonus: Understand It’s Evil.

The ultimate goal of evil – as pretty much the goal of every force, is self-propagation – it does this, as we saw in the Holocaust, as we see in terrorism, and as we see in bullying, and antisemitic bullying; by shaming, which can include violence, but in a unpredictable manner… for if the innocent:

A. Believe they are guilty.

B. Become afraid; Then not only will they give power to the bully, but they will emulate it out of fear.

As the Talmud states “Mercy towards evil, is to cause, not only evil to the merciful – but to become evil!” For as one’s motivation is fear, which is self-protection, this then creates a subconscious desire… “If you can’t beat em’ join em’.” Of course as most protective subconscious desires, it is erroneous (for those who hate based on their irrational jealousy, won’t somehow start loving.)

To a large extent Obama, a product of radical ideologies from his childhood mentor, black radical Frank Marshall Davis, who was a known communist, who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union… Many are unaware that the Soviet Union spent the majority of its budget on subversion, or as they call it “Disinformation.” The tactic of disinformation, as the most authoritative book on it, written by General Ion Mihai Pacepa, is to cause an internal collapse. Pacepa is the highest ranking Soviet General to defect and was head of the Secret Service of Romania where his career spanned 1951–78. In the art of war, Sun Tzu style – they have succeeded in their three highest propaganda goals. Remember this style of propaganda, is not by Soviets, rather by getting, or more accurately supporting disenfranchised radicals, who by entering into the consciousness of the society, will cause its collapse. 1. Pro-Palestinian, as Ion Mihai Pacepa says, the entire notion there ever was a “Palestinian state” was a Soviet idea, one in which he personally trained Arafat. Remember the Arabs fought three wars before they ever claimed there was such an Arab, called a Palestinian – Mahmoud Abbas got a “degree” from a Moscow “University,” and the list is endless. 2. Pro gay and lesbian. 3. Anti-American. It is amazing, that these three clarion calls, are the absolute hallmarks of “liberalism”.

Additionally, Obama chose to listen to twenty years of radical anti-American vitriol, as a member of Reverend Jeremy Wright’s Church. As Stanley Kurtz writes: You don’t join a church when there are literally of at least a million others, unless it is the message you desire. As Kurtz writes in 2008 (so this was a prediction, and as they say hindsight is 20/20, published on CBS) “Far from purging its radical Left, however, the Democratic party is now just inches away from placing it in the driver’s seat. That is the real meaning of the fiasco at (Reverend Wright’s) Trinity Church.”

In conclusion: There is no nation that has crisscrossed civilization – lived with, been persecuted by… – those who hate the Jews, as no less a psychological personage, than Dr. Freud who replied when asked as to the psychological reason for anti-Semitism, “Miserable bastards;” It is in the nature of misery to – from jealousy –to seek to make others miserable through random acts of violence.

If four thousand years have taught us anything, the solution is never in contorting oneself to the whims of deluded maniacs, rather By Proudly Carrying The Torch of G-d, of Judaism, of Love, Hope, Giving, Kindness and Belief – The Moshiach Who Is Practically Here, Will Come!

Retreat Compromise, Fall Back Accommodate, Rout Surrender

Liberal media’s bouffant coxcomb chattering class bemoans the fact most women elected to Congress are Democrats thereby suggesting Republicans are the party of sexist misogynists as claimed by bitter harridan Hillary Clinton. It is true most women in Congress are Democrats1 but what the princes of pompous pontification ignore is Republican women often lose to Democrat males in general elections. It’s not Republicans voting against them. Genitalia plays no part in my voting. I’d climb over a pile of limp celery stick Republican males like Kit Bond, John McCain, Jeff Flake, John Kasich, Mitt Romney, and Pot-Peddler John Boehner any day to vote for a Phyllis Schlafly.2 Female Republican candidates are likely to be conservative, a serious enough offense, but worse, some commit the unpardonable sin according to Leftist Holy Writ; they are Christians. Against this horrific threat, the Democrat Party Machine swings into action deploying its myrmidons; Hollywood’s Big Donors, spokesboob actors and actresses, radical environmentalists (Crypto-Marxists), feminists (Crypto-Marxists), radicalized college youth (Crypto-Marxists), liberal media, and union and race voters. Blacks and Hispanics in large urban areas typically vote against one of their own if she is a Republican. And who are the misogynists?

Liberals have accused conservative males debating liberal females of “picking on the girl” if they “come on too strong”. Just ask Rick Lazio who lost to Hillary Clinton in their New York Senate race (2000).3 Conservative males now face an additional quandary. Do they “go easy” on liberal males in political debates? After all, with liberals, you never know when ‘he’ might come out a ‘she’. Lest anyone consider this an attack against Democrats on behalf of Republicans, read on.

Conservative radio talk show host Joe Pags recently interviewed Texas Republican Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick (23 September, 2019) about the latter’s support for universal background checks. Patrick proclaimed fidelity to the Second Amendment with a ‘but’…an affirmation followed by an equivocation is a negation…as was the case. Sure enough, Patrick argued in favor of total, 100%, universal background checks (UBC’s). His rationale was, since 90% of guns purchased already involve a background check, what’s the harm in extending it to the remaining 10%? In support of his proposal, Patrick claimed the people now avoiding background checks, presumably his 10%, do so because they cannot legally buy firearms. He said UBC’s would end this practice.4

Next Patrick asserted “gun-merchants” are getting rich selling firearms to persons who cannot legally buy them charging $4000 dollars for a $2000 dollar gun. Because of their ineligible status, “customers” have no choice but to pay huge markups. Patrick said UBC’s would shut these gun merchants down. In addition, he declared UBC’s would also stop and end public mass shootings because they would prevent the mentally ill from buying guns. Patrick believes suspects in recent mass shootings were legally able to buy guns even though health officials had adjudicated them to be mentally unfit. When Joe Pags (Pagliarulo) observed Second Amendment “hard-liners” might object to Patrick’s proposal, the Lieutenant Governor said the Second Amendment guarantees people the right to “bear” not “sell” their guns.5 Wow. Where to start? Trying to follow Patrick’s “logic” is like untangling twine after an explosion in a string factory.

If an unknown number of people are not subject to background checks, how does Patrick know what percentage are, let alone 90%? What is 90% of an unknown number? Is this the “new math?” He didn’t say. Private transfers between family members, friends, and acquaintances are not subject to background checks and hence not recorded. Again, how can Patrick quantify an unknown quantity? This is an important question because he grounds support for UBC’s on the claim since so many people are already subject to background checks, no one would notice if extended to the rest. Sort of like being covered with poison ivy and getting one more bump. Even if Patrick’s numbers are correct, when has the “everyone else is doing it” ever been a compelling argument? Would it be valid to argue, because government has suppressed 90% of American’s First Amendment rights, what is the harm in surrendering the rest? At the risk of being crass, would a rescuer tell the victim of a shark attack; “Well, he got most of your leg so, you might as well let him have the rest”? Imagine its pre-W.W. II Berlin. Jacob hears a harsh banging on his door. He opens it to find goons standing there dressed in black uniforms trimmed in ominous silver runes.

“Your guns, give them to us now!” barks one of the goons.

“But why, gun ownership is legal” responds Jacob.

“Ninety percent of the other Jews have handed theirs over. What could be the harm if you do too?” says the goon.

If the people surrender any portion of a right to the government, will government ever cede it back? Would not any rationale for the government to seize a portion of a right also be equally compelling with respect to it taking the rest? Ten percent of a bad idea is still a bad idea let alone ninety percent.

I wish Pags had asked Patrick how UBC’s would force ineligible persons to submit to background checks. If a person is ineligible, they are ineligible. Most criminals obtain firearms through the black and secondary markets. This includes theft and straw purchases wherein eligible individuals buy firearms on behalf of those who are not. Who are Patrick’s “gun-merchants”? If he knows, why doesn’t he alert the Texas Department of Public Safety? Those willing to break the law selling contraband, be it untaxed cigarettes, bootleg music CDs, drugs, guns, and so forth, have and always will regardless of prohibitions and legal sanctions. Experience, history, and the facts contradict Patrick’s arguments. How could the number two man in the Texas Republican Party make such an ill-conceived and dangerous argument?

Contrary to what Patrick believes, the law already prohibits individuals from buying or possessing firearms if the Courts and or mental health officials have determined them to be mentally “defective”. In addition, the law requires officials to report such adjudications to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Anyone purchasing a firearm through an FFL is required to fill out form 4473. This an affidavit swearing they do not fit in any prohibited class listed on the form (felons, domestic abusers, illegal aliens, drug users, mentally unfit, etc.). Lying on this form is a felony. The FFL then calls the FBI’s NICS who determine if the customer is eligible to purchase the firearm. How does Texas’ Lieutenant Governor not know this? If individuals, barred by law from buying firearms, resort to the black market already operating outside the law, how would they be stopped by universal background checks?

I like Joe Pags but have to ask; what is a Second Amendment “hardliner?” Are they people who believe in an individual right to keep and bear arms, that the Second Amendment means what it says, and that one cannot compromise rights endowed by G-d? ? I’m a homicide hardliner. I reject exceptions to laws prohibiting anyone from illegally taking my life. Am I extreme? Liberals use “hardliner” to cast opponents as unreasonable in order to soften up the rest of gun owners to accept compromises. With all gun laws, each compromise leads to a diminution of rights.

According to Patrick, although the Second Amendment guarantees a right to keep and bear arms, those arms are not your private property. If one does not have the right to sell his or her property, then someone else does. Who is that? Government? If the latter, your arms must belong to them. The Declaration states people have a right to life and it is a gift from G-D, not one created by man or his laws. Inherent in this right is also a right to the means to protect it. The Fourth and Fifth Amendments recognizes the individual’s absolute right to own private property and dispose of it as they see fit. Firearms are private property. Crypto-Confiscationists argue, however, because firearms possess an intrinsic potential for lethality, exceptions to Second Amendment and property rights are valid. Baseball bats, knives, ice picks, meat cleavers, hammers, hatchets, axes, arrows, staves, and so forth also possess intrinsic lethal potential. This is no facetious comparison. The FBI reports that murderers kill more people with knives, hammers, clubs, and feet each year than rifles. In 2018, 297 people were killed with rifles, 1,515 were killed by murderers using a knife, 443 were murdered by killers using hammers, clubs, and blunt objects, and 672 were killed with “fists, feet and other ‘personal weapons”.6 The law can impose harsh consequences for irresponsible behavior but government cannot abridge an individual’s 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment rights based on potential lethality of property owned. More importantly, American government, constituted as “federal”, cannot pass “national” laws.7

James Madison, the “Father of the Constitution,” writing in Federalist #39 noted a national government has authority over the “individual citizens” along with “an indefinite supremacy over all persons and things.” Under this system, “supremacy is completely vested in the national legislature” that has total control over city, county, and state governments as well as all commercial and other activities within the states. However, the United States has a “federal” not a “national” government. Its jurisdiction extends only to powers delegated to it, and enumerated, by the states.8 In Federalist #45, Madison wrote; “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects such as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which the last, the power of taxation, will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several states will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concerns the lives, liberties, and properties of the people9 [emphasis mine]. Oops, the “federal” government has no Constitutional authority to establish any form of “national” background check law in the first place! It is sad those calling themselves Republicans and conservatives know so little about the Constitution.10

Lieutenant Governor Patrick predicates his failure-doomed proposal on two false notions near and dear to liberals; 1) the mere existence of firearms “causes” violent crime and 2) Individuals engaging in “hate” or “hate-speech” are dangerous to others, mentally ill, and the ones who commit public mass shootings. In the first case, the solution is simple; eliminate firearms thus ending violent crime, so they say. In the second, “red-flag” and stop mentally unstable persons from possessing arms or have police seize those they possess.

First, there is no correlation between the degree of access to firearms and the degree of evil in a person’s heart. Intent to inflict pain, great bodily injury, and murder germinate from within the individual not from proximity to implements of harm. In addition, access to firearms, including by teenagers under 18, was relatively unregulated before the 1960s. People could purchase firearms through the mail. “Federal” (sic) background checks did not exist, yet public mass shootings, were rare. Each decade of the twentieth century, until the 1970s, “had fewer than 10 mass public shootings with one in the 1950s. The rise began in the 1960s with six, followed by 13 in the 1970s. This upsurge spiked in the 1980s with 32 public mass shootings jumping to an unimaginable 42 in the 1990s even though access to firearms was increasingly regulated and controlled by the government following the Gun Control Act of 1968.10 What changed?

It began in 1947 with Everson versus Board of Education (330, 1, 18, 1947) in which the Supreme Court illegally amended the Constitution inventing the doctrine of “separation of church and state”. Through the Court’s tortured interpretation, it granted Liberal Humanism the means to drive G-d, its greatest foe, from the public square.

In the 1960s, moral relativism, the notion that all values are “relative”, that there is no good and evil or right and wrong, or moral absolutes became the dominant philosophy in America. Books like, I’m Okay, You’re Okay and The Pathology of Normalcy became wildly popular along with the philosophy of “do your own thing”. Simon and Garfunkel’s prophets wrote, “G-d is Dead” on subway walls. The humanist left, the equivalent of cultural acid, declared concepts of right and wrong to be judgements and those holding to them to be judgmental. If notions of morality are relative, “who are you to impose your values on me” became the battle cry of those destroying Judeo-Christian based Western Society. In order to force cultural and moral relativism on everyone, liberal humanists worked through “modern” left teachers and the Courts to drive G-d and Judeo-Christian based values from schools. For decades, Public Dis-Education has taught notions of morality and even truth are merely social constructs. How then could the consequences surprise anyone? Religion’s decline in the role of people’s lives, disintegration of the family, loss of respect for law and order and spike in violent crime, massive drug use, wild promiscuity, murdering unborn babies, normalizing sexual perversion, school and public mass shootings, and a rise in suicides. And all this would be solved by more background checks?

Patrick’s claim that all public mass killers were/are known to have been mentally unstable and dangerous is problematic. Most recent mass killers, with exceptions, did not exhibit a “specific profile” that would have identified them as potential murderers. An FBI Study (2013) revealed only 25% of mass murderers had previously been diagnosed with a serious mental illness. However, many of the others had displayed behavior considered hostile and anti-social.11 Laws designed to prevent violent crime before it happens by nature must be anticipatory. They rely on “red-flags” triggering a response from the courts and police. Who and on what basis determines what constitutes a red flag resulting in the police seizing a person’s arms? Therein lies the rub. Short of actions requiring incarceration in the Puzzle Factory, what constitutes behavior triggering these responses? According to the “Left”, hate speech should be a “Red-Flag” because it is de facto “proof” of mental instability and potential for violence. But what is hate speech? The Left defines it as anyone holding to Biblical morality, opposition to the invasion of the US by illegal aliens, belief in limited government, and a demand government follow the original intent of the Constitution. In short, opposition to any part of the left’s agenda.

Criminals and the mentally unstable are already prohibited from buying and possessing firearms. Universal background checks will do nothing to stop the ineligible from obtaining them. Nor will they stop criminals from buying guns on the black market. UBCs serve two purposes. First, a misguided attempt to buy off Confiscationists through compromise. Second, when UBC’s fail in their intended goal, Liberals will argue it’s because gun laws didn’t go far enough and what is needed is total gun registration. This too will fail and again the Left will say it’s because “We didn’t go far enough”. Guess what they’ll call for next. Support no sell-outs regardless of political party.

Because they love their ideology more than they love children

Yours, theirs, doesn’t matter. Progressives are all in for the ideology of control. Be it whether or not you can have a 32 ounce soda pop or an AR-15. And yes, Mikey Bloomberg financier of the astro-turf Everytown for gun safety, is gearing up to run for President. It’s about control because without control they don’t have the power they are striving for.

Soda Bans

They are trying so desperately to peddle the bill of goods known as “It’s for the children”. But it really isn’t you see.

All those “Red Flag” or Preemptive prove your innocence or extreme risk orders of protection? No matter what you choose to call it by, it stinks. It is gun confiscation without due process from someone who has done nothing. In most cases they are engaging in mind reading. Or in some cases, just vindictive behavior.

In the case of the Bucket O’Chum school terrorist at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, he had given a wealth of signs, but due to a policy put in place during obama’s term there had been no consequences for his previous criminal behavior. The same with Trayvon Martin. Recently there was a juvenile in Baker County in Fl. who had made threats against his classmates and teachers. He had a plan all written out. He showed it to another student who told authorities. He was taken into custody by authorities before he could carry out any of his heinous plan. But I found this interesting.

“MAKE SURE THE TEACHERS ARE DEAD,” he ranted in a notebook. “Then rinse repeat.”….

The boy’s plan described killing teachers and fellow students in chilling detail. To maximize the carnage, he’d deploy an arsenal of knives and guns at a pep rally or some other high-traffic venue. He calculated he’d have nine minutes before squad cars and medics could reach the scene. He wouldn’t be acting alone, he hoped, having recruited at least three schoolmates who, like him, were “100% down that they might die that day.”

Emphasis mine. So what happened to the juvenile? Oh, the wise judge turned him loose back into the community he threatened. Truly.

They try to hoodwink us, telling us there is no time to spare to ensure someone’s rights are upheld, Baker act won’t do. Must have confiscation without due process, without facing your accuser in court.

So about those nine minutes.

At the recent attack at Saugus High School, the Bucket O’Chum began firing and his pistol jammed. Although according to the Daily Mail he used a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle, which he removed from his backpack. Heck of a backpack. But they are British, and MSM, so #FakeNews. What do they know about firearms? But it was a regular semi-automatic pistol. And it jammed. He cleared the jam and safely continued on firing secure in the knowledge he had plenty of time. He counted his shots saving the last one for himself. Help was only moments away,

Three off-duty police officers, who had just dropped off relatives at the school, were the first responders on the scene: a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and police officers from Inglewood and Los Angeles. They were joined within a minute by uniformed deputies on duty from the sheriff’s station in Santa Clarita, as well as a sheriff’s deputy who works at the school as the school resource officer.

But the help was needed within seconds.

This being Kalifornia, I wonder if the off-duty police officers will be reprimanded for carrying their weapons into the school? The school resource officer was one of the last to arrive. I’m not criticizing him. He is one man, he can’t be everywhere. He’s not like Scott Peterson, the “Coward of Broward” who stood by outside the building, or former Sheriff Steve Israel who supported him. He was just the last to arrive. When seconds count the police are only moments away. If it saves just one child, right Mad Mommies? Right harridans of The View? Well, yeah, as long as it doesn’t involve anyone but the bad guy having the gun. How much quicker could the response have been had there been an armed teacher near by?

Laurens County, Georgia doesn’t intend to ever have to look back and wonder. They have began arming and training their teachers. They intend to do everything, politically correct or not, to protect the children from harm. I like the sign outside the school.

Outside every school building in the county is a yellow sign that reads, in part: “Warning. Staff members are armed and trained. Any attempt to harm children will be met with deadly force.”

Seem straightforward to me.

Like the shooting in a Duncan Oklahoma Walmart parking lot recently. The first two victims died, then a good guy with a gun put a stop to further carnage. But, there was a good guy, a regular citizen there, with his gun. Or as the Daily Mail would call it, his semi-automatic rifle.

But to progressives, it’s not really about protecting children, if it saves just one life is a bunch of schiff. What is the message taught at schools? Violence is always wrong, if there is a fight and you defend yourself, you get in trouble (and suspended) same as the person who started it. Don’t fight back, just tell a teacher. Since Jews are being attacked all over the world now, some just for wearing a Kippah and the charges are often ignored, or even dropped. This is not working out well. I recently heard an interview with Schmuel Hacohen “Super Jew”, on the Tamar Yonah show. He relates a story about his father decking a man when he was young. His dad was a scientist, but he still knew how to fight. Afterwards when young Schmuel was bubbling over about it, he father told him he was not proud of what he did. “Violence is not a good thing, it is not always a bad thing, sometimes it is a necessary thing.” We now have generations of children who only use violence to bully and intimidate, those that would stand up for themselves against it are vilified. And just in case someone would be inclined to fight back, or step in, they must have you disarmed and deprived of your most effective defense weapons. Only criminals are allowed to have those.

The episode of the Tamar Yonah show that followed was an interview with Eitan Fischberger, Israel Campus Coordinator for CAMERA on Campus and Aviva Rosenschein, CAMERA’s International Campus Director. They told of what it’s like on college campuses for Jewish students and those that would stand up for Israel against the lies being told, and against the bullying. Sometimes by their professors. They address the false information being put out by Jewish Voices for Peace, Peace Now, the BDS BS movement, J-Street, If Not Now and others. Far too many Jews have become disconnected an apathetic about Israel. There is one Jewish Nation, if you allow it to be destroyed, where are you planning on going as antisemitism increases? France? England? Have at it.

But some young Jews are defying the herd. And doing it brilliantly. The fact that he needs to write under a pseudonym is too bad. But I understand why he feels he must. The lad is a student of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, HY’’D. Rabbi Meir’s father was close friends with Zev Jabotinsky. My Shimshon’s middle name is Zev. Many many of Rabbi Meir’s predictions have sadly come to pass. He believed Jews should be living in Israel, and that Jews should be able and willing to defend themselves. The writer laments that Betar is no longer around. I do as well. I’m an American Jewish teen and believe we need to teach self defense. It’s a good column.

My one and only (so far) multimedia column for The Zelman Partisans is a reading of a letter by Rabbi Meir Kahane, Dear World

Progressives see the same events we do, but they are determined to double down on their policies of leaving the innocent helpless and at the mercy of someone else showing up to help them. It doesn’t matter if it is there children, your children or parents, or you. No one must be allowed to defend them. They continually attempt to force law-abiding gun owners who have committed no crime to pay the consequences of people who have already committed several. It gets in the way of their ideology, and they love that way more than anything or anyone else. Why are they willing to sacrifice innocent souls on the alter of their ideology? Power.

Walmart, Merchant of Death

For those that haven’t heard yet, retail giant Walmart has decided that to keep the forces of evil at bay (the anti-gun harpies and their ilk) the best thing they could do would be cave into the pressure. Because their customers who shop at Walmart looking for value on things they use in their daily lives are not nearly as important as getting the harpies to quit and being labeled as “socially responsible”. Mind you, the harpies are not nearly as large a segment of the population as the people that quietly go about their business shopping at Walmart, I don’t believe.

Walmart to stop selling handgun ammunition. Retailer will also ask customers to stop openly carrying firearms

Walmart’s stance has encouraged others to follow in their ground breaking foot steps.

Walgreens and CVS ask customers not to openly carry guns in their stores

Kroger requests customers stop openly carrying guns in stores

Open carrying at Kroger

Thank you Oleg Volk

This has lead a buddy of mine of Facebook to point out a few things. Said buddy is staunch Second Amendment supporter, so his views may be subtle. Thanks Bill for the lines.

My breakup with Walmart will not be easy. I have two outstanding items at the pharmacy that have to be handled there, but then I’ll transfer the prescriptions elsewhere. I’m serious about this.

I do owe him and his buddies one, they helped me figure out how to get a screw out of the laser sights on my .380 and only chided me a tiny bit for carrying that small a gun at times. Good lads all! But being a helpful friend, I told him about Israel Pharmacy. I’ve set 3 people up with accounts there and they’ve all been pleased and saved money, and no they aren’t paying me.

IsraelPharm

So regarding my buddy’s salient points, let’s examine the death and destruction Walmart unleashes on a daily basis on the unsuspecting communities they invade. And if you are a small Mom and Pop shop, I suspect you would agree with the characterization of Walmart as being an invasive species that puts small businesses out of business and then quits carrying the necessary items.

This one is startling. A study by Johns Hopkins found that 250,000 Americans are killed by medical errors each year. That’s 17 times the number killed by guns. Yet Walmart has a pharmacy in each store.

But my friend wasn’t done with his observations.

In 2018, 40,000 people died in automobile crashes in the U.S., yet Walmart still sells the vital parts and ammunition to keep these machines of carnage operating.

And

In 2014, nearly 5000 people died in bathtub drownings in the U.S., yet with few exceptions, every home still contains at least one of these known instruments of death. In fact, the government requires them!

My gracious! The inhumanity! Think of the bathtub bumpstocks Walmart sells! High capacity bottles of bubble bath, huge bags of scented Epson salts, bath scrubbies in multiple colors and that doesn’t count the dangerous chemicals Walmart sells to clean aforementioned bathtub of death! And they sell Tide Pods!

In 2017 there were nearly a thousand fatal bicycle accidents, yet Walmart still sells these machines of death. Walmart has blood on their hands.

I can hear it now, “Walmart peddler of death”. Yes, it’s a pun. Yes, it’s a bad one.

Hey Walmart. Stop selling beer, liquor, and wine.

An estimated 88,0008 people (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women) die from alcohol-related causes annually, making alcohol the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States. The first is tobacco, and the second is poor diet and physical inactivity.

No mention of guns?

But let’s go back to the “groundbreaking” stance bit. It’s not really you know. And if Walmart quits selling ammunition you can just go to K-Mart and buy it. Oh, wait. Kmart Kills Ammunition Sales

Maybe not.

Company officials made the announcement Thursday following meetings that included company executives, a prominent gun-control advocate and victims of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting.

Kmart stores have not carried handguns since the 1970s, but still sell hunting rifles and other long guns. For some time, the Troy, Mich.-based company has been under pressure from gun-control advocates to stop selling firearms.

In November 1999, talk show host Rosie O’Donnell resigned as the company’s celebrity spokeswoman because of her strong support of gun control.

And in December 1999 the company withdrew an application for a license to sell rifles and shotguns at a new store in New York after protests by an anti-gun group.

Company spokeswoman Julie Fracker said the sale of firearms and ammunition had been under review as part of a merchandising strategy by the company’s new executive team for some time.

“Obviously we consider ourselves a socially conscious business, but this was a business decision made in the best interests of the company,” she said.

Kmart, Sears store closings: More locations to shutter by end of 2019

And about Rosie resigning as spokeswoman? Well, she’s important you see, you aren’t. If you aren’t rich enough to afford professional body guards, well then your life isn’t worth preserving. She of course can afford armed bodyguards, and has them. #Elitist #Hypocrisy

So, maybe go to Dick’s Sporting Goods? Dick’s Sporting Goods worries that sales could drop in wake of change in gun policy Oh, don’t be silly! Everyone knows taking a strong “social justice” stance will pay off. Who cares about those mouth breathing gun owners, right?

The latest balance sheet data shows that DICK’S Sporting Goods had liabilities of US$1.93b due within a year, and liabilities of US$3.22b falling due after that. On the other hand, it had cash of US$116.7m and US$68.5m worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities total US$4.96b more than the combination of its cash and short-term receivables.

This deficit casts a shadow over the US$3.08b company, like a colossus towering over mere mortals. So we definitely think shareholders need to watch this one closely. At the end of the day, DICK’S Sporting Goods would probably need a major re-capitalization if its creditors were to demand repayment.

DICK’S Sporting Goods’s net debt is only 0.48 times its EBITDA. And its EBIT easily covers its interest expense, being 32.4 times the size. So you could argue it is no more threatened by its debt than an elephant is by a mouse. But the bad news is that DICK’S Sporting Goods has seen its EBIT plunge 13% in the last twelve months. We think hat kind of performance, if repeated frequently, could well lead to difficulties for the stock. There’s no doubt that we learn most about debt from the balance sheet. But it is future earnings, more than anything, that will determine DICK’S Sporting Goods’s ability to maintain a healthy balance sheet going forward.

Corporate Gun Control Fail: Dick’s May Have to Close 35 Stores Across 18 States #DontBeDicks

Who cares about those mouth breathing gun owners? Oh, I dunno, the shareholders? If I were a shareholder and the CEO started making monetary decisions based on “social justice” knee jerks rather than responding to customers I think I would lead the charge to oust them. That’s my money you’re playing with. I invested in a company, not a high school experiment with a popularity contest.

This has lead to the popular Babylon Bee news site (satire) breaking the news on two more new Walmart policies

Walmart Discontinues Auto Part Sales To Prevent Car Accidents

BENTONVILLE, AR—In a bold move intended to curb the thousands of deaths from vehicles each and every day, Walmart has decided to stop selling auto parts, sources confirmed Tuesday.

According to shocking reports, people have purchased car parts at Walmart and then those cars have been involved in accidents, proving a direct correlation between selling auto parts and causing deaths.

“We can no longer be complicit in an industry that kills over 3,000 people a day,” said a spokesperson for Walmart. “Every time we sell a muffler, steering wheel cover, or flame decal, we are potentially causing the death of a person, and we cannot support that any longer.”

But hey, while perusing the Bee’s homepage, I did get a bit of good news!

‘When I Am President, I Will Take Away Your Guns,’ Says Man Who Will Never Be President

U.S.—Beto O’Rourke promised to take away everybody’s guns when he is president, though sources have confirmed that O’Rourke will never even get close to being the president.

“Man, I can’t wait to see how that presidential pen feels signing an unconstitutional executive order,” he added wistfully, though he will never know how that feels.

At publishing times, O’Rourke’s pro-gun control comments had caused his number of supporters to get cut in half, leaving him with just one.

That’s the thing about all this modern incarnation of “social justice”. In placating the harpies, and playing to the #FakeNews cameras you cause harm to the people you are suppose to be working for, shareholders or constituents. Not to mention the people that work for you. They used to be called “employees with families” till their jobs went away because that store had to be closed. If you’ve enhanced your ego or reputation at the expense of someone you’ve betrayed, it seems there could be fallout. I hope it falls hard on you.

I bet there might be a local gun shop with knowledgeable people around. They may not mix paint for you, but I bet the can make some sensible gun related recommendations should you ask.

Guest Post: Second Take on a First Dilemma: News Control

By Mona Oliver

Question.

The news media hype mass murders like sports. They generate excitement using continuous coverage, announcer-like intensity and narratives, names and backgrounds of “contestants,” manisfestos and quotes, play by plays, tactics and gear, video and photos, comparisons with other contestants, and scores. Regardless of intention, the news media are strongly encouraging copycats.

But it doesn’t stop there. The news media then use the carnage as propaganda to push an agenda — to disarm the population at large — which would result in millions of defenseless law-abiding citizens everywhere at the mercy of an infinitesimal percentage who desire to be their mass-murderers. Again, regardless of intentions, the news media are pushing for broader playing fields with more targets, higher scores, and greater notoriety for mass murderers.

(At this point, it’s worth remembering that the greatest mass murderers are governments, a risk that increases dramatically with civilian disarmament.)

There is hope. A few countries have seen the light. They have directed their news media to change their coverage of mass murders — and their news media have complied, with minimal coverage, non-hyped language, no emphasis on the perpetrators, just a presenting of facts about the event and moving on. In those countries, mass murders have dropped to zero or nearly zero.

In the US, our news media is only getting worse. Hearing such intense, ongoing, sports-like coverage of the latest horrific events is not just personally sickening, it is quite literally sickening our country. It is doing nothing to help alleviate the problem and may, in fact, be escalating conditions.

We have to demand better. We have to demand a similar change from our news agencies — but without usurping the 1st Amendment.

The question is, how do we achieve that?

Henny Penny Builds A “Safe” Gun

Henny Penny

For those discomfited by my point of view, and for liberals that entails maniacal hatred, don’t get your Garanimals’ training undies in a twist. I’m in the extreme minority. I’m so “old-school” and normal, nothing more than shirt and trousers will ever emerge from my closet and I managed to reach middle-age sans tattoos, never involved in drugs, and without carnal knowledge of Madonna. Is that rare or what? I’ve never won a popularity contest either and am not about to start now. So why sweat me? Like-minded Americans could fit in one room without a shoe horn.

Unbeknownst to me how, I was added to the email blast alert list of Democrat Party Panjandrum Nancy Pelosi known affectionately in some circles as Bela Pelousy. My first impulse was to hit delete and unsubscribe followed by multiple showers and a round of antibiotics. Wait a sec. Imagine the immense loss in entertainment value not reading lunatic emails penned behind the Tofu Curtain by Bela’s neo-Bolshevik scribes out in California. I reconsidered. Pouring a beverage and popping popcorn, I began reading. Hysterical. What a hoot. I stopped laughing. Radical Trotskycrats couldn’t fund-raise through preposterous wild-eyed frothing at the mouth emails, spewing claims unmoored from reality, unless significant numbers of the Great Unwashed are gullible and ignorant enough to believe such rubbish. Or went to public schools. Or both. G-d help us all.

Based on radio and television discussions, online articles, and conversations with Millennials, in general they seem to oppose abolishing the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. But they also tend to support so-called “assault-rifle” bans and believe safer guns and more training are the remedies for “gun-violence.” If true, their knowledge of firearms and understanding of crime issues needs to be addressed. What is the best approach?

All too-often Millennials propose gun control laws whose underlying premise is grossly naïve; people are incompetent with respect to self-defense so shouldn’t fight back against criminal attack. And “because,” they claim, an armed woman is more likely to shoot herself than the bad guy, she should submit to rape. Could these gutless arguments stem from an unwillingness by TSNAGs (Typical Sensitive New Age Guys) to shoulder a responsibility once embraced by men; protecting society’s most vulnerable? Is cowardice behind their claim disarming all but cops will create safer communities? Making matters worse, people proposing more gun laws sometimes know little or nothing about guns. They employ incorrect terms, trade in urban legends, and rely on internet disinformation. Maybe they ask where’s the safety on Ruger’s GP100, call AR15s “assault weapons,” refer to magazines as “clips,” claim anyone can walk in and out of a gun store in five minutes with a machine gun, say the Constitution “gives” us the right to keep and bear arms, or claim gun-registration will never lead to confiscation. Can gun-owners be faulted in believing when a liberal man marries a liberal woman, it’s a same-sex marriage? How does one address their ignorance and misinformation? Understandably those in the self-defense community often respond to the ill-informed with insults but, is this the best approach with Millennials? Is treating them as lunkheads for not knowing what the rest of us were taught the best way to win converts? No. Instead, with gentleness and patience, take them under your wing. Guide them to a saving knowledge of the truth about self-defense. Teach them the 2nd Amendment protects the right to save their lives and those of loved ones from bad guys who’d take them in a second without remorse. They’re smart. As they learn, questions will arise and your answers will lead to more questions and soon you’ve taught them what used to be common knowledge. Let’s start here.

Deceitfully calling them “assault-weapons,” and “assault-rifles,” liberals would ban America’s rifle, the AR15/AR10 and their derivatives. But these are semiautomatic not assault-rifles, (no firearm is classified an assault weapon). They comport with the type of firearm Alexander Hamilton had in mind observing in Federalist #46 that an armed citizenry is the chief bulwark against infringement and oppression by a federal government, and an army it might raise for that purpose.1 Those calling for “safer” guns and more training are apparently unfamiliar with firearms. Considering approximately 124 million people own about 270 million guns,2 (or more), and there were 505 deaths due to “accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm” in 2013,3 (not even half of a half of a half of a percent, you get the drift) safe gun handling is not a problem in America. Would guns complicated by additional safety devices and more training impair the thugs shooting up Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia,4 and Washington, D.C. among others?

In the past several decades, various firearm manufacturers began attaching unnecessary function-retarding devices (magazine disconnect safety) aimed at fending off slip-and-fall lawyers, buying goodwill among anti-gunners, and saving from themselves, people too stupid to unload their gun before cleaning it. Remarkably, even self-defense gurus piled on teaching CCW holders not to carry guns with personal hand-loaded ammunition because it made them appear more blood-thirsty. Editorialists for firearm magazines, gun forums, pro-gun attorneys, and those training citizens at various shooting schools and academies echoed these proscriptions as well. These admonitions took on the life of hoary old clichés everyone accepts but never questions. With all due respect to The Persuaders, as a policeman, when I heard someone utter the cliché; there’s a fine line between love and hate, it was always after husbands or boyfriends beat, stabbed, or murdered their wives or girlfriends. There is a huge chasm between love and hate. I am no fan of hoary clichés. If you get worked up over what comes next, keep in mind, drugs, tattoos, Madonna, extreme minority…

I’m acquainted with the PARDs (Pistol Rescue Doctors) who perform operations transforming liberal guns into conservative guns. They surgically remove from pistols magazine disconnect “safeties,” an unnecessary handicapping mechanism. I realize liberals enjoy taking sharp objects to everything from fences to babies, but, in this case, patients emerge from operating rooms feeling much better. These surgeons have rescued pistols from both domestic and foreign marques. A minimally invasive procedure, each gun is able to return to a normal life the same day, without prescription Opioids. What is this safety? A magazine disconnect safety prevents a pistol from firing unless a magazine is firmly inserted and locked in place. It doesn’t matter if the magazine is loaded with rounds or not. Unless the magazine is in place, the pistol is inoperable.

In an ongoing campaign to limit the type of firearms which may be sold and possessed, down to, well, none, California created an ever evolving list of “safety” features and attributes firearms must have in order to be legal in the Rainbow state. To the ever shrinking list of legal guns was added in 2007, the requirement of a visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator and a magazine disconnect “safety.”5 It remains unclear how such mechanisms reduce crime by identifying, apprehending, and bringing violent criminals to trial. In order to continue marketing guns in California, and placate lefty anti-2nd Amendment politicians (the beard and ponytail crowd), Sturm Ruger and Smith & Wesson (metal pistols) added magazine disconnect “safeties” not typically found on pistols manufactured by Beretta, CZ, Glock, H&K, FN, SIG Sauer, Springfield, and 1911A1s, or Smith’s modern plastic pistols.

Self-anointed “gun-experts,” among the most insufferably arrogant people I’ve ever encountered, and Neosporin scraped knee spraying worry warts argue that, before cleaning a pistol, someone might forget to check to see if it’s loaded and suffer a negligent discharge [ND] with tragic consequences. Do they assume everyone, other than them, is too ignorant, stupid, and irresponsible to safely handle guns so as many function retarding devices as possible must be added to them? The rarity of gun-accidents puts a lie to this notion. For everyone I’ve trained with, at police and public ranges, the approach is much the same. Training is 100% focused on safety. A standardized step by step protocol is taught and pounded into the heads of new shooters. Range Masters are unforgiving. 1) all guns are considered loaded, 2) guns at all times must be pointed in a safe direction, 3) shooters must know their backstop meaning, what you’re shooting at and the dangers of shooting in that direction, 4) don’t touch or load guns until conditions are safe to do so, 5) When done firing, place the pistol on the bench, table, etc. with the slide locked back and the ejection port up so anyone can see if it’s loaded. Rounds, fired or not, are ejected from the cylinder of revolvers and the gun is placed on the shooting table with the cylinder propped open for inspection, 6) before disassembly for cleaning, the pistol’s magazine must be out, the slide locked back, and the chamber inspected to ensure no rounds remain in the gun, 7) never point even a disassembled gun at anyone, 8) when unloading an unfired gun, whether back from the range or a day of concealed carry, you must account for each round. By always following these or similar steps in the same order, they become part of what’s known as “muscle memory.” Simple. For those finding these steps too complex or mentally challenging, no amount of safeties will make their firearms safe. For them a safe gun is none at all. But don’t punish the 99.99% who handle firearms responsibly with useless feel-good beanbag lava lamp “safety” devices. An on-line Ruger Forum reveals there are Henny Pennys among gun-owners.

Magazine disconnect safety deactivation opponents argue, although removing them makes pistols no less safe, the why of it would not be understood by juries. Others contend that, even in cases where use of deadly force is justified, prosecutors will use removal to paint defendants in the worst possible light. Forum member ‘Sandlapper’ wrote; “It is a safety device you are removing and I’ve always thought safety and gun are too (sic) words that worked well together.” When another forum member asked if this had ever been an issue in a court case, removal opponent ‘Storm40’ delivered what he thought was the coup de grace citing People v. Superior Court (DU) Los Angeles County, (1992). In this case, an LAPD ballistics expert testified the snub-nosed Smith & Wesson revolver used in the shooting case had been crudely altered and it’s “trigger pull dramatically reduced.” Storm40 added that the revolver’s “safety mechanism” didn’t function.6 Having fired snub-nosed revolvers from Colt, Sturm-Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Taurus over the years, I never encountered a “safety-mechanism,” left-wing novelist Stephen Kind notwithstanding.

Great Scott, has America descended so deeply into Henny Penny emasculation that the blood of America’s rugged, individualistic, and self-reliant forefathers has evaporated from everyone’s veins? Have Neosporin wielding moms patrolling playgrounds ever vigilant for scraped elbows turned Americans into the sky is falling ninnies?

Back in the day, a young man’s first car was typically a tired old jalopy. He soon went to work tossing out performance inhibiting parts replacing cams, intakes, carburetors, exhaust manifolds, and gears with those designed to wring from the car its true performance potential. At least outside of Palo Alto. When liberal environmentalists, who pee their pants at the mere mention of horsepower, employed the tyrannical power of government to foist all manner of unconstitutional performance crippling “pollution” devices on cars, sons and daughters of pioneers and settlers did what free people always do. They chucked them. None of their modifications rendered cars any less safe. Whether driving a 1974 Ford Pinto pumping out 80 horsepower or a 2018 Dodge Demon with 840 screaming horses on tap, what makes cars safe or unsafe is how they’re operated. For those driving sewing machines (electric cars), time among aficionados of real cars is highly recommended…and fun.

Removing magazine disconnect safeties does little to alter trigger pull weight on hammer or striker fired pistols and renders them no less safe. With Ruger’s SR9, removal actually smooths trigger press resulting in a more accurate gun. No one wants to shoot innocent bystanders. Won’t prosecutors use this modification to vilify defendants? Let’s be frank. If a prosecutor has charged you in a self-defense case, they want your scalp. Ethical or not, fair or not, they’ll throw anything they can at you to win conviction. District Attorneys are politicians. Even If you do everything right; approved factory ammo and a totally bone-stock gun, and you’re a pillar of the community completely justified in the use of deadly force, a D.A. who chooses to bring charges will so blacken your character and reputation, your own family won’t recognize you. Trial lawyer Gordon Cooper, an experienced attorney who represents gun-owners, observes the legal system is biased and stacked against gun-owners. And that’s whether you tuned your gun to be more efficient or not. In his experience, “many law-enforcement officers, district attorneys, and even jurors seem to think that if you own or carry a firearm, you are inherently guilty in some way.”7 It won’t matter whether or not you added clearer sights, replaced the grip panels for a better fit, had a trigger-job to improve a horrendous pull weight, Cerakoted the frame for rust prevention, or removed a magazine disconnect “safety.” Ultimately the issue to be decided is, was the use of deadly force justified? Prosecutors attempt to load juries with as many gun-ignorant Oprah watching malleable Neosporin nitwits as possible. It’s the defense attorney’s responsibility, through the voir dire and trial process to block this and provide expert counter-witnesses. As to Ruger Forum member Sandlapper’s cliché about guns and safety going together, Confiscationists use the words “gun” and “safety,” together all the time. Are you going to allow those who know nothing about and or hate guns, dictate what does or doesn’t belong on your gun because the word “safety” is attached to it? For liberals “safety” means national gun-owner registration, restrictions, bans, forced-buy backs, and confiscation. Is that what you want, Sandlapper? If you allow Confiscationist Henny Pennys to build a “safe” gun, chances are it won’t fire. Messages on T-shirts, bumpers stickers, and social media pose a much greater threat to a defendant in a self-defense case than a finely-tuned gun.

Ruger Forum member “Spring” noted disconnect “safety” removal does not lighten trigger pull and the same dire warnings were applied to gun-owners using hollow point rounds; they’re “designed to kill” and make gun owners appear “blood-thirsty.” You’ll get hammered by prosecutors if they discover you used hollow-points in your self-defense gun, people warned. Another Forum member observed that, with respect to the California snub-nosed revolver case, modification of the revolver’s trigger was not an issue and played no role in determination of guilt or innocence. Two women were engaged in a physical altercation (sounds like a high school cafeteria at lunchtime), one turned to leave, and the defendant shot her in the back of the head.8 Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows immediately what the defendant did wrong. If not, don’t touch a gun until you get some serious legal training.

As much as I respect Massad Ayoob, I take issue with his admonition against disconnect safety removal.9 As a policeman, I and other officers were issued Smith & Wesson Model 19 revolvers. By the 1980s, new specimens typically came with heavy gritty triggers and large wooden grips. It was routine for officers to replace wooden stocks with rubber grips, change the sights, and pop for a department legal trigger job. Like performance mods on a car, this didn’t make the gun any less safe, it simply ran better.

Prosecutor: “Isn’t it true officer Goldstein, getting an action job indicates you intended to shoot the deceased?”

Goldstein: “No, pulling the trigger does.”

Gaston Glock’s masterpiece has no magazine disconnect safety and is perhaps the most customizable pistol on the market. From slide hold-open levers, magazine release buttons, springs, barrels, slides, name it, the performance of off the shelf guns can be greatly enhanced. This can make for more confident and accurate users. Ultra-light triggers aside, in self-defense situations, employing a finely tuned and accurate gun means less chance of bullets striking unintended targets. Gun owners who experiment with various loads are more likely to know which bullets might over or under penetrate in given situations allowing them to choose wisely. This makes them and the gun safer.

It’s possible, sitting in a car, at a desk, or reaching for items on grocery store shelves, to bump the magazine release button just enough to unlock the magazine of some pistols. With the magazine still in the well, nothing appears amiss. Attacks by criminals are often sudden and violent, allowing victims but a second to pull their gun and fire in self-defense. Only, the gun won’t fire. The magazine is unlocked. What about the fact a round is already chambered. It won’t matter. The gun is inoperable due to the magazine disconnect safety. For naysayers who might argue this would probably be a rare occurrence, how rare will it be if it’s you? Gun Writers note most attacks and self-defense uses of pistols occur at handshaking distances. Suppose a scumbag makes a grab for and gets his hand on your gun and, in the ensuing struggle, the magazine release button is bumped sending the magazine flying. No sweat, you still have one in the pipe. Weren’t you paying attention? Without the magazine locked in place, the pistol is inoperable. While the Scrote is stabbing you with a knife or bludgeoning your skull with a crowbar, you’re on hands and knees, scrambling around on the sidewalk, trying to find the ejected magazine so it can be re-inserted into the pistol to make it work. Only, you won’t be able to do that. Because you’re dead.

Finding time and money to practice frequently at the range is a challenge for anyone. “Dry-firing” is a method for practicing trigger skills, hand and eye coordination, and building muscle memory. Third generation Smith & Wesson pistols, alloy and steel models, had hammers and a double action trigger pull weight designed to build great forearms. Like a revolver, one can practice “staging” the overly heavy trigger learning to control and fire it at the proper “break” enhancing accuracy and effectiveness. But this requires lots of practice, including long dry-fire sessions. To dry-fire these hammer fired Smiths, one has two options; thumb back the hammer and pull the trigger but, it won’t drop without the magazine in place (Smith 908, for example), or rack the slide. But the slide can’t be racked to the rear and returned to battery if an empty magazine is in place. The slide has to be retracted, allowed to return to battery, and then the magazine re-inserted. Unless you thumb the hammer with a magazine in place, if you dry fire 50 times, you’ll have to repeat this process 50 times. But that’s impossible with magazine disconnect safeties. It’s the same for striker-fired pistols. Dropping the magazine, working the slide, reinserting the magazine, pulling the trigger, and repeating is not conducive to training and, we have a magazine always in the gun. Wouldn’t it be safer during dry fire practice for a magazine not to be part of the equation?

For those clinging to the, what’s the harm with more safeties argument, how many will be enough? At what point does the firearm’s intended purpose become compromised? The way to improve driving skills is through practice, not making it harder for people to drive their cars. In both cases, firearms and automobiles, one learns a set of safety protocols from which not to deviate. I am aware of a man who was killed when the jack holding up the car he was under failed. Anyone who works on cars learns early on this is a hideously dangerous no-no. The same “everyone knows you don’t do this” type of maxim also applies to guns. Those who violate safety protocols, face tragic consequences. The good news is, most of us do follow them.

What would guns designed by Henny Pennys look like? Big and heavy, festooned with a padlock, proof all 29 warning labels were read, owner fingerprint keypad, microphone and voice recognition software, chip reader, DNA blood-sample collection needle, video-screen on which to take a required test, google search for any racist, sexist, bigoted, etc. comment ever made on social media, and an automatic call to the FBI for authorization to use the gun.

In America, when a respected greybeard in the 2nd Amendment and shooting community theorizes from his pedestal this or that handgun modification could be used by prosecutors to hang an innocent person, other sages nod in cross-pollinating agreement. Soon the theory circulates becoming accepted wisdom one dares not question. In the real world, rounds fired at violent attackers in self-defense, from .380s to .44 Magnums, don’t automatically drop knife or gun-wielding Scumbags like a sack of potatoes. You’re in a fight for your life. You must do whatever it takes to prevail. Failure means you die. But, snivels the Henny Penny, they’ll say when you fired your gun, you meant to kill the bad guy with the knife.10 When it comes to saving lives, we can’t let fear mongering and the massive egos of firearms “experts” cripple our ability to defend ourselves. We can’t allow Confiscationists to normalize hamstringing guns with function inhibiting devices in the name of “gun safety” and “sensible laws.” None of this will hamstring violent criminals but may cost you your life.

Haters

You know, it seems more and more often I hear the left justify their criminal behavior as “fighting hate”, “fighting evil” “fighting fascism” or another one I hear from time to time, “Trump is so evil”. No, I don’t believe President Trump is evil, misguided and screws up? Yep. But I notice those that claim he is “evil” usually do so because he is denying them something they want such as illegal immigrants voting, or on welfare, or how about just coming here illegally, un-vetted and we have no idea who they are, what diseases they have or what their character is.

Recently a conservative journalist was attacked in the city of Portland Oregon. A shame and disgrace, Portland used to be a very beautiful city. I very much enjoyed my trips there when I was younger. But Portland has become a liberal haven, like Berkeley. And like Berkeley, antifa flourishes. What is antifa like?

I’m reading a book right now called Women Heroes of WWII.

He instituted the Hitler Jugend (Hitler Youth), a state-run program for all children ages 10–18. The Hitler Youth program was geared to make Germany’s children proud, militant Nazis. They engaged in warlike games, killed small animals (to become insensitive to suffering and death), sang songs about German streets running with Jewish blood, and were encouraged toward fanatical, personal devotion to Hitler, a devotion that was to take precedence over their relationships with their parents. (Children were encouraged to turn in their own parents to the Gestapo if they heard them say anything against the Führer.)

The members of antifa certainly fit that description! My Mom and I were talking the other night and she was telling me a statistic she thought she had heard about the percentage of people that want socialism vs the people that don’t, and want capitalism. And in their public educatio indoctrination centers skools they learn what is “social justice” and “victimhood” 300 level classes in this are available at most universities, along with BDS and anti-Zionism against the one Jewish state in the world, which is in no way of course, antisemitic. In addition to physically attacking their victims, they strive for fear, intimidation and humiliation. Again, familiar.

But adults can have differences of opinions, they can discuss ideas. Very spirited discussions can result between two adults that argues their points, theories and ideas.

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

Brainstorming is a beautiful thing. Antifa doesn’t brainstorm. I’m not sure they really think, they seem more like violently programed robots. They are absolutely indoctrinated to hate. How else can you scream “Love trumps hate” as you try to beat another living being?

Some of this just seems so familiar, it’s like a memory ringing in the back of my mind.

I’m seeing a pattern. Conservatives, especially in this time of Trump have been de-humanized to the point that the liberal tolerant left feels perfectly justified in physically attacking them. Women alone, old men, doesn’t matter. They function as a feral pack, they seem to single out one person and go after them. Because of they have different ideas than that of the left and that is no longer permitted. Stores are boycotted, careers are ruined, jobs are lost. All because someone expressed an opinion that the left doesn’t allow them to express or believe. Which goes with the pattern, it’s why Russia and Germany had to lock up and isolate leaders of the opposition, be they teacher, doctors, sailors, soldiers or the neighborhood grocer.

Banned knitters

And just like the days of old,

How the NYT Missed the Story of the Holocaust While It Was Happening

the media covers it up.

Antifa sympathisers are ‘whitewashing’ violence: Andy Ngo

You notice this report came from outside the U.S.

Also like the days of old, those in authority are telling the police to “stand down” and not protect the Trump supporters. Whether it was Berkeley, the lady in San Jose when the police blocked the door and wouldn’t let her in as antifa surrounded her or the attack on Andy Ngo which occurred right in front of a police station. The authorities are not doing the “serve and protect” thing. Well, not if you’re a conservative anyway.

Portland’s mayor has turned his city over to Antifa thugs

Portland mayor breaks silence on Antifa violence, and gets scorched by police union rep

Have you noticed another similarity between the cities where antifa seems to be flourishing? Yeah, I thought you probably had. They all have strict gun control. While that will affect conservatives who tend to be law abiding, it does not affect antifa who show up armed with crowbars and bats. And while the liberal talking heads aka #FakeNews tend to belittle the milkshake thing, the “milkshakes” often have quick drying concrete which makes them capable of blunt force trauma as well as chemical acid burns.

The point of the all this intimidation is something gun owners have seen for a long time. The media tells us some massive percentage of the people support further restricting our Second Amendment rights. And while we know it’s crap, many others, the Fudds out there will believe it. Especially if there is a collaborating story from the VNRA. With the stifling of free speech, and the ability to safely assemble at a political rally the tolerant, progressive anti-fascist fascists are ensuring only one opinion, theirs, is safe to express or will be heard.

And while some say “Love Trumps Hate”, I say love may well trump hate, but these days love and a AR-15 are a way better way to go.
