Poll: GOP a danger to your gun rights?

republican_debate002_16x9Hey, all! It’s time for another fun Zelman Partisans poll. Today we are asking you which remaining GOP candidate would be the most dangerous for your gun rights.

We previously asked you who in the GOP clown car would best protect your right to keep and bear arms. Now, that the field has narrowed, we want to know who would be the worst.

What I tried to do in parentheses is give you guys a taste of each candidate’s Second Amendment views. It’s not a complete report card, and I’ve tried to include Gun Owners of America ratings where appropriate.

Now, go vote!

New Poll: Smart Guns

My apologies for being a bit late with this week’s poll. Sometimes life gunjust makes you crazy.

Today, we want to talk about “smart” guns. Would you ever buy one? Under what conditions? Why? Do you consider them risky? Do you think they’re cool?

Assume it’s a voluntary thing. No one is forcing you. They’re just something that is available on the market.

Enjoy, and feel free to comment.

This Week’s New Poll: The Zombie Apocalypse

Plants-vs-Zombies-2-14We decided to have a little fun with this week’s Zelman Partisans poll, and let you use your imagination a bit.

Picture yourself in a zombie apocalypse, a la “The Walking Dead.” Zombies surround you, and the only way to kill them is to destroy their brains. You’re in it for the long haul. Survival is key. They can come at you in crowds, or one at a time. They’re slow, but fairly strong, and one bite means death. What kind of weapon will you choose?

Have fun!

Poll: What gun groups do you support?

This week’s poll: Which gun groups do you support? And something a little different this time; we’re inviting any anti-gunners who might be lurking about to tell what anti-gun groups they volunteer for or send money to. No, there probably aren’t a lot of antis browsing TZP, but all it takes is one to show up and put the word out to her friends. Then we might get some pretty odd results.

As usual, last week’s poll remains open until tomorrow evening.

Poll: If the ATF expands FFL requirements, will you apply?

This week’s poll requires a little background explanation. So read this first please, then go v*te!

—–

Obama released a white paper that effectively reverses the Clinton-era policy that reduced Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) from approximately 250,000 in the ’90s to 50,000 today. The reduction was accomplished by denying licenses for people deemed not to be doing enough business, or doing business from home. Those who had licenses strictly for gun show sales saw them revoked, and the ATF will not issue an FFL for gun show-only sales. Now Obama says those “dealers” must be licensed again.

If FFLs are again opened up for show-sellers, collectors, hobbyists, low-volume sellers, and people who simply want the convenience of interstate transfers without paying another FFL dealer, would you apply for a license?

The poll is here. There are v*ting options even for those who might never imagine themselves being in a position to need or be legally required to hold a license.

Last week’s poll on the biggest threats to gun rights in 2016 is open through tomorrow evening at 6:00 CST — and still going strong.

Poll: ‘Tis the season for gifting …

For most of us, whether we celebrate Hannukah, Christmas, or Yule*, this is the season of gift giving. Our latest poll asks whether you gave or received firearm/self-defense-related gifts this year.

Two things to know about this poll: It will be up until after the end of the year and it allows you to v*te more than once. So if you haven’t finished all your celebrations yet, you can answer now then come back and answer again later.

Through tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. CST, you can also still v*te in last week’s poll, which has drawn lots of responses and plenty of creative comments (love the one about writing articles for TZP!)

*I can’t imagine that anybody here observes that dutiful celebration of collectivism, Kwanzaa. But if you do, then Heri za Kwanzaa to you.

Poll: Have you ever had to use a firearm in self-defense or defense of others?

This week’s poll asks if you’ve ever had to defend yourself or others with a firearm. It will be open until Monday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. CST.

Last week’s poll (another “political one”) remains open until tomorrow at 6:00. Turns out these political polls have proven unpopular with the hardcore and politically cynical (or realistic) TZP crowd. It’ll be a while before we do another of those.

POLL: Which R-Party Candidate is Worst for Gun Rights?

This week’s poll is now UPDATE: Closed. The question: Which Republican presidential candidate is most dangerous to gun rights?

Before anybody gets mad, some explanation: We’re not prejudiced against R-party candidates. (Well, I am, but slightly less than I am against D-party candidates.) We’re just doing separate polls on each party. Ds and probably some mixed matches still to come. We may even do some political polls with a more positive spin.

Also, the eight names that appear in the new poll are those who qualified for this week’s Fox News “big boy” debate. Candidates who didn’t have enough support to make that debate were omitted.

So go. V*te. Then come back here and leave a comment to tell why you think that candidate is most perilous to gun rights.

(H/T to CB for the poll idea.)

Last week’s poll (on favorite EDC calibers) is still open through Monday at 6:00 p.m. CST. So please v*te in that, too, if you haven’t already.

Here’s where results stand as of early Sunday a.m. (click to embiggenate):
