Hopped-Up Little Mississippi Dictator Decrees Police State

Jackson, Mississippi Mayor King Chokwe Antar Lumumba posted videos on YouTube announcing an executive order “suspending” the state open carry law, in violation of Mississippi Code § 45-9-51, the state firearms preemption law.

Amusingly — in a morbid way — the first video cited as his “authority” a nonexistent code: § 45-7-17. That video was deleted after ridicule and questions. Fortunately, I saved a copy. It was replaced with a second video (also saved) with almost the same script, save that he omitted the spoken reference to the fake code, and included a screenshot of § 45-17-7, which does not give any such magical power.

The King declined to respond to questions about the order. Nor does the order yet appear on the city web site.

Only after the story was reported by The Truth About Guns, and was the subject of many social media posts, did any local news outlet pick it up. WJTV simply reported it unquestioningly as a good thing. But they did have a copy of the order.

Note that while the King’s video cites § 45-17-7, the actual order cites no authority for this whatsoever. He did it because he believes he’s all-powerful. One might wonder what other laws he’ll decide to unilaterally “suspend” indefinitely. Concealed carry? Firearm ownership? The Second Amendment? The entire Bill of Rights?

State Attorney General Lynn Fitch disagrees.

Cities can’t usurp the authority of the State’s elected Legislature and violate the Constitutional rights of the people. I support the 2nd Amendment and will enforce the laws of this State.

Loonumba is an oathbreaking, dictatorial scumbag with no respect for the law, the US Constitution, or the Mississippi Constitution. I suspect people are already preparing lawsuits in reaction to this unlawful order. This will very likely cost the taxpayers of Jackson a pretty penny. Normally, I’d disapprove of the people suffering for the misdeeds of the government, but apparently those citizens elected their king by a 93% supermajority. They’re getting just what they deserve.

  1. I was thinking I heard on a radio program that AG had appointed some district judges to keep this sort of thing from being carried out. I know he mentioned the local and state over reach of some and mentioned the Second Amendment for sure. I would dearly LOVE to see that come into play.

    1. “I was thinking I heard on a radio program that AG had appointed some district judges to keep this sort of thing from being carried out.”
Therein lies the irrevocable failure of your thinking process……citizens of Mississippi have the sole responsibility to prevent Da’ Mayors usurpation of state and federal (Constitutional/2 Amendment) law.

      1. As may be (although if you’ll review the US and MS constitutions, you’ll see certain powers delegated to government), but that the AG did that does not reflect Sheila’s thinking. Please be polite.

        1. I’m not sure you know what you’re asking.
He’s a keyboard comando just itching for the shooting to start. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything from him that could be described as polite.

  2. He’s probably a muzloid which would explain it.
Either way he is a member of the red green axis.

  3. He is a radical communist. His father picked their last name in honor of patrice lumumba of the congo. The local black communists praised his election “he was raised in the struggle” There is video of him behind the podium shortly after being elected raising his fist in the air and shouting “free the land” multiple times. Reference the “jackson Kush Plan” and “republic of new afrika” That should provide ample links to the people and organizations he’s associated with.

  4. As the rotting central urban core of central MS, Jackson did indeed elect baby Chokwe with a supermajority, reflective of their will. When 45 came to town for opening of a civil rights museum soon after the 2016 election, baby Chokwe, along with Congressman Bennie Thompson (Con Tom) and host of others, snubbed him….Trump was not allowed in the main hall for the ceremony. He left quietly, when he could have been included and likely very amenable to coming to the aid of a decaying black-run small Southern city with crumbling infrastructure and a multibillion-dollar consent decree from the EPA for a noncompliant sewer system. Shortly after, with his constituents struggling with a nonfunctional water system from massive leaks from freeze-damaged mains and public schools closed for weeks, he chose to fly to LA to accept an award for the NAACP, much akin to his hero’s Nobel. During the Ferguson riots, as a freshly-minted attorney, he traveled to Missouricto join the melee.

He is ineffective and hates whites, but he has a nice hairline. Residents of the surrounding suburbs and towns largely consider him a joke, and stay armed.

  5. Today’s joke is tomorrow’s threat. Never underestimate an opponent, regardless of their clownish behavior. Behind him are others who support him and pull his strings. Get to know who they are.

  6. as a MS native I can tell you Jackson was not always a bunghole. Now it is a sanctuary for criminals and human slave trade. it is a model democrat city. We only travel through armed and head on a swivel. As someone mentioned earlier, they got the government they deserve.

  7. are you sure this is not patrice lumumba (small letters intended) reincarnated, changing only his first name? after all, patrice was a communist revered by moscow for his ‘ideology’.

it is my sincere hope the people of that town who elected this petty bureaucrat- morphing into -fuhrer get what they deserve.
