It’s a Good Day For Liberty

Years ago in a galaxy far far away, I served on the board of a couple of Second Amendment groups. One of them very much a grassroots group and it was very active in the legislative process and citizen lobbying. Contrary to what people are sometimes lead to think, “lobbyist” is not a dirty word, or a bad thing. Many people have jobs, employers seem to expect that their employees will be at those jobs. So, when there is legislation that matters to gun owners be it a bill to expand gun rights or a bill proposing further infringement of a law-abiding citizens rights with yet another gun control scam disguised as “gun safety” it would seem fair that the law-abiding citizen should also have their voice heard. Ahh, the conundrum. What is the law-abiding citizen to do? They have a job, but they also have rights that need to be defended. Well, the Second Amendment groups in the state went together and hired a lobbyist to be present at the hearings and speak on behalf of the voters that held opinions most firm about further infringement of their G-d given rights, namely self-defense. From time to time the lobbyist would be accompanied to these hearings by the leadership of the Second Amendment rights groups, and I was privileged to be one of those. A citizen lobbyist, who also happened to represent a passel of voters. I had the high heels and a sparkly barrette. I considered these vital, but not as vital as a couple of other things I possessed. A mission, and resolve. I enjoyed this mission, legislators can be quite tasty if bar-b-qued with BBQ sauce. /snark, remember, I’m a vegetarian.

It’s been a while since I’ve attended a rally day. In my state there has been a Second Amendment day at the Capitol for years. Usually towards the end of the season, and usually there is a major bill or two we are wanting big time bad, or a big time bad bill we want to see die an inglorious death. I started going back before my state had concealed carry, the lobby was packed full that day, it was standing room only. For years I went every year, even spoke at a couple of them. The last few years I haven’t made it, for various and sundry reasons. But I’ve made it the last couple of years, and this year was just grand.

I did the hike from the parking lot to the capitol and entered the door to the meeting area. The police were there with the airport style scanning machine. I was met by a young police officer when I placed my purse on the table. He regarded my purse dubiously.

Sir: “Ma’am, are you lawfully carrying concealed?”

Me: Yup

Sir: “I’m going to need a driver’s license and a concealed carry card”.

Me: You are an officer of the law, you should already have these credentials.

After a second for my brain to catch up with my mouth, I grinned at him and said, I’ve got to get them out of my purse, ok?

Sir: “Yep, I have a concealed carry. My friends ask me why I bother and I tell them because it’s the right thing to do.”

Me: I like you, I like the way you think.

He regards the depths of my purse skeptically after he studys my cards.

Sir: “Do you carry in your purse?”

Me: Nope.

Sir: “Good, I worry that if a purse was stolen you’ve now lost your defensive tools.”

Me: Oh I do like you, nope, no purse carry.

Sir: “Which side are you carrying on?”

I answer him, and he tells me after I set off the machine the officer at the other end will wand me. I go through, set off the machine get wanded and I’m good to go. I thank them both for what they do.

I went in, said hi to a lobbyist I’ve worked with, sat with some dear people that I haven’t seen for awhile and listened to some great speakers. The MC is well known in the Second Amendment arena as the guy that wrote the book on gun laws. Which is fair enough, he did write the book on gun laws.

It was interesting, the speakers were great, acoustics are always challenging in that room, but still it was good. Two floors up there was some sort of school event going on. A bunch of school children, I’m guessing pre-teen, or early teens must have disapproved of us being allowed to speak in public. When one of the speakers would start to speak, they would start yelling trying to drown out the speaker. Think there is much indoctrination going on in the tax payer funded schools? I’m telling you, Zehut has the right idea, school vouchers for everyone.

After rally we all split up to go speak with our legislators about the bills we want passed, and I also wanted to mention my extreme aversion to “Guilty until proven innocent” Red Flag gun confiscation. I had mentioned my aversion to my former lobbyist mentor and he said while of course the misogynistic mad mommies are pushing for it, it hasn’t gained traction. Good to hear. I don’t know why mad mommies hate women so much that they want to deprive them of a tool that even elderly women can use to equalize the situation, but they do.

Our MC ended the rally with his trademark line, “It’s a good day for liberty”. He always opened his monthly column with that line. And it was a good day for liberty, every day is a good day for liberty. But we must fight for it, there are forces that will not be happy until they have all the power they want, and as long as there are armed citizens, they know that won’t happen. They use whatever tactics they think will work, whether it is going after politicians sympathetic to us with blatant lies and accusations that their allies in the mainstream media help them spread or lies about “ghost guns” or citizens that defended themselves. Be it vote fraud or illegal immigrants voting, they will use it.

We must remain strong in our convictions and our determination. Where the room was packed a few years ago when we wanted, demanded, concealed carry it was now not as full. Attendance was good, but it needs to be bigger. I saw one old friend, he and his young son were there. This man and his wife want their children to learn about freedom and the legislative process and how the two go together. Those kids have been citizen lobbyists since they were probably 4 or 5 years old. Maybe even younger. The legislators sit up and take notice when large groups of people have taken the day off work and showed up to demand their rights be honored. G-d gives rights, legislators recognize or infringe on them.

My lobbying mission finished, I headed for the exit for the drive home. As I walked by the door to the exit I passed the door you enter, Sir and his partner were still there checking people, I smiled and waved at them and said thank you, they both smiled and waved back. It never hurts for the Second Amendment people to be the nice polite friendly ones.

So if you have a chance, and your state has a rally day yearly, go. See friends, network, make friends, talk to your legislative critters. Don’t let bloombergs paid harpies be the only voice being heard at your capitol.

Tonight starts Pesach, Passover. We each leave our own slavery in Egypt behind. I believe it is a constant process, sometimes easier, sometimes harder. But I don’t want to be one of the Jews that chose to stay behind in Egypt rather than face the unknown. I believe that G-d does want freedom for us. This year is a very meaningful Pesach for me, and I hope that you all will have a very blessed holiday as well. Thank you for being with us, The Zelman Partisans as we travel this path together.

My friend used the line “It’s a good day for liberty” to open his columns, I wrote him and told him I was poaching it for a column. He wrote back fried, poached or boiled, if it’s for the cause it should be used.

I always ride for the brand and I always ended my columns with my own sign off.

Illusions and Justice

Illusions- The condition of being deceived by a false perception or belief. An erroneous perception of reality.

Justice- The principle or ideal of just dealing or right action conformity to this principle or ideal, righteousness the justice of their cause.

I confess, I’m one of those poor sods who like to see the best in people I’m close to. I make excuses for them, I try to overlook things, make allowances, tell myself it doesn’t matter, it was an accident and so on and so for ad nauseam. I’ve come to the conclusion that is a very naive way to live, and that there is a better than good chance you will end up getting blind-sided. Then you do the “it’s probably not how it looks, they didn’t mean it” and now you are deceiving yourself, they don’t even have to do it for themselves, you do it for them. How accommodating! Choosing to live with an illusion is a very counter productive, and frankly stupid way to live. Not only are you not able to accomplish things you could be working on, you’re probably working on things you don’t need to be so you’re wasting your valuable time. It can also be fatal. But, I’m far from the only one that struggles with this. Whole segments of populations and countries do as well.

Let’s take a little look at the modern Demoncratic party, the party of the working man as it is thought to be. This is from a email, but I’ll add to it.

116th

Congress was sworn in, and all day long, the media was salivating and fawning over the “remarkable diversity” of the new Democrat members. It was a day of “firsts,” we were told. It was indeed a day of many firsts. While the new Democrat majority offers many members of note, we wanted to highlight a few “firsts” who are examples of the “diversity” that was sworn in today.

#1.Ilhan Omar

The first person who married her brother – in order to commit immigration fraud – ever be elected to Congress. Omar is also the first open supporter of female genital mutilation to ever be elected to Congress. Amazing diversity!

#2. Rashida Tlaib

One of the first Muslim Brotherhood-linked and anti-Semitic candidates to be elected to Congress. She also claims to be a “Palestinian.” And she knows how to swear. Tlaib quote: “Impeach the Mother F_ _ _ _ _ _ President” (First words out of her mouth after being sworn in.)

#3. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Let’s just say she’s the first person elected to Congress who lied about being from the Bronx, and thus, made up her life story. She’s also an overt Marxist. (Not even covert!)

#4. Abigail Spanberger

The first substitute teacher from an Islamist school (nicknamed by law enforcers as ‘terror high’) ever to be elected to Congress.

#5. Donna Shalala

Rep. Shalala was HHS Secretary from 1993 to 2001 under Bill Clinton and worked from 2015 to 2017 at the Clinton Foundation, and in 2016 she admitted in an interview that some significant Clinton Foundation donors received “courtesy appointments” in the Clinton State Department. To top it off, apparently she can’t let go of politics: at 78, she’s the oldest female House freshman in history.

There is is a lot of value put on these important “firsts”. I think if this is the sort of the thing the Demoncratic party values, every person has historic “firsts” they could celebrate that are worthy of joy similar to the election and value of these Demoncratic women.

Your “first” car wreck, the “first” time you get beat up, the “first” time you get robbed, the “first” time you bounce a check, the “first” time you get thrown off your horse, the “first” time you’re lied to by someone you trusted, the “first” time you lose a loved one. All are notable firsts, and if the Demoncrats have a bar that low, well then, I’ve given them more.

So what do these remarkably “diverse” women bring to the table? Anti-semitic, anti-Israel, anti-women’s rights, anti-self defense, anti-freedom. See, they’re against all the good stuff and in lock step with what Nanny Pelosi tells them.. For now, I don’t think she’ll be able to keep them in lock step all that long.

Rashida Tlaib’s Support for BDS

Over 90 Muslims in U.S., almost all of them Democrats, are running for public offices this year

And for the Somali Omar,

The Curious Case of Ilhan Omar, This one is very interesting.

One only has to look at how well the Somalis have integrated into the communities where obama dumped them to understand that importing the Somali way of life into American politics is a really bad idea. Or you could just look at how it’s playing out in Germany. Or Sweden.

For a shot of truth for the Falistinian Tlaib,

Palestinians Want to Live in Israel So Badly, They’ll Abandon Their Own Children

The Israeli military has expressed growing concern over a new phenomenon that sees Palestinian parents from Gaza enter Israel to take their children for medical treatment, only to abandon those same children at the Gaza border and disappear.

These are folks who receive official permits from Israel to bring their suffering children for free medical treatment (oh, those nasty Zionists!), and then leave those children at the border, hoping someone will pick them up and care for them.

Either way, the parent(s) in question are more concerned about their own well-being, which they know, contrary to what’s portrayed in the mainstream media, can be best provided for in the Jewish state.

#ApartheidFail

Because the news media #MSM #MediaBias #FakeNews is so good at covering what’s really going on it Israel. IN PHOTOS: ‘Peaceful’ Palestinian Protest at the Gaza Border

But the media has been very, very busy of late. None stop coverage of a heinous even that happened recently. A vicious attack on a defenseless person. It was horrible. And the media covered it in great detail as well as what has happened afterwards. I’m talking about Ori Ansbacher HY’’D.

A beautiful 19-year-old girl, Ori Ansbacher’s remains were found in the Ein Yael forest, south of Jerusalem. Her body was naked with multiple stab wounds to the upper torso.

Ori was a volunteer at a youth center in Jerusalem, she had gone for a walk to the Jerusalem forest to be alone after an argument.

She was spotted by a terrorist who had come into Israel illegally to kill Jews. Yeah, actually I do know what was in his mind. I’ll get to that. She was raped and stabbed repeatedly.

So what is known about the Bucket O’Chum that killed her?

He was arrested two years ago on the Temple Mount, with a knife.

“I want to be a Shaheed,” he declared at the time. When the interrogator asked him how he intended to become a Shaheed, the suspect replied, “I will do it again, I will buy a knife again and I will come back here to go to jail or be a Shaheed. I will do anything in order to go to jail. And if you release me, I’ll come here with a knife and I’ll be a Shaheed.”

I can’t begin to tell you how much I want to correct the spelling on that “shaheed” to more accurately reflect the proper word for this piece of human excrement. He smirked happily for the camera, and helpfully re-enacted the crime for the Israeli police.

And, have you heard any of the harpies on The View mourning Ori? Ms. Madcow? Anyone? Linda Sarsour decrying the violence against women? Any of the pink hatted harridans? No?

Well, the arabs in the Israeli Knesset didn’t either. They didn’t condemn the act, nope MK Aida Touma-Sliman claims Ori Ansbacher murder a heinous crime and shouldn’t stain struggle of ‘Palestinian people’. It wasn’t an act of terror by someone raised and educated to hate Jews, it was a “gender crime”.

I much prefer the response of MK Bezalel Smotrich,

“This despicable terrorist must die, his home must be destroyed, and his family must be deported here and now, without the High Court and without B’Tselem. Simply because our lives come first.”

And of course the Zehut political party has an excellent plan to deal with the arab population living in the Jewish state.

Why, there’s even talk that Israel may cut back the amount of money the give the Falestinian Authority (FA) by a few million. That’s money the FA uses to pay the families of the people that kill Jews, or are killed trying. Yep, Israel pays for the arabs to kill Jews.

Why? Illusions.

Some people labor under the illusion that the arabs are “peace partners”. The arab MK in the Knesset that called it a gender crime isn’t even honest enough to admit what it really is, and instead tries to use the horrific act to bring the conversation back to the “Falistinian struggle”. Hogwash. It’s hard to have a peace process or plan that have turned down every single one offered.

Illusions by the media that they will never be treated in the same manner by an arab. I mean after all, they carry the water for them. Perhaps they could ask Lara Logan or Kim Barker about that? Illusions behind their high security walls in their homes that we don’t need a wall at the border, and we don’t need to screen who is coming in.

Illusions by the Demoncrats that the muslim and communist women they are so proudly promoting have any intention or desire to serve the Americans that elected them.

Illusions by the people that elected those women that they were good candidates and would work for them.

Illusions by RINOs that they are on a good path to staying in “power”, because that’s what it’s about to them.

Illusions, they are everywhere.

And why haven’t you heard or Ori Ansbacher? Because the media was doing what they do best. #FakeNews. They were spreading the illusion of an attack on some low list actor called Jussie Smollett. Who probably didn’t deceive the media, but not having learned their lesson from the Covington High School fiasco bought his line, hook and sinker. Reaction to Jussie Smollett and Covington Case Shows Media’s Agenda.

Yes indeed, the media is all over the false claim of an attack on some minor actor, but the horrific death of a beautiful 19 year old girl receives no attention at all. The illusion of what was really important. It was easy to deceive the media, they wanted to be deceived.

But we don’t. We don’t want illusions that Demoncrats aren’t planning to enact some kind of gun confiscation scheme. We can’t afford illusions that someone will always be there to help or save us.

After services this Shabbat we had Kiddush, lunch. We were all talking, and somehow the Second Amendment or guns came up, don’t recall how that happened. But one of the gentleman at our table related a story about a time when he was in Israel. One of the men showing them the territory of Judea and Samaria was armed. He said someone commented on it, wasn’t he scared living in a place where he had to have a GUN? He smiled and said no. He wasn’t scared, he is an excellent shot. As is his wife, their children and their grandchildren are all excellent shots. He said he was worried about the tour group, Jews living in the diaspora. Because many of them don’t have guns, they rely on someone else to keep them safe. He said I sounded like that man.

That man has no illusions.

As long as people are living with illusions, there will not be, there can not be, justice.

Happy Hanukkah 2018

Happy Hanukkah! The story that celebrates the victory of the Maccabees, a Jewish Priestly family from Modiin that aren’t Israeli, didn’t live in Israel and they defeated the Greek empire that wanted to force them to abandon their faith, their heritage and their G-d.

If I were going to write the story today I would cast Jewish Voices for Peace, J street, If Not Now, B’Tselem, and leftist Jews as the Hellenistic Jews of the Hanukkah story. Because they work against Israel and those that want to live life according to Torah. It’s kind of interesting to me, I recently took a class called “Wrestling With Faith” in it we talked about the Mitzvot. The 613 little holy bread crumbs G-d gave to leave a path for us to follow to find him. You want to get to know someone? You ask him or her questions about themselves, and sometimes getting that information is like pulling teeth. G-d plays no such games with us. He says these things I like, these things I don’t like. You want to make me smile? You want to show you are a child who listen to their father? These are house rules. Which kind of baffles me when people tell me they don’t matter anymore. Maybe I just haven’t found the Parasha where it says G-d changed him mind about those. But that was the point of the Hellenization. To separate the Jews from the things that G-d ask. It’s like doing everything the opposite of what your boss, significant other, spouse or coach says you should do and then expecting them to still feel the same way about you. It doesn’t usually play out that way. So Hellenization was meant to turn people from the worship of G-d to the worship of the human body, art, and pagan rituals. They wanted to convince the Jews living in Israel that they didn’t need to observe the new months, circumcision, Torah study, Shabbat observance. They wanted to drive a wedge between the people and G-d.

For more info on this history of Hanukkah and information you’ll find we’ve got quite a few choices.

A Holiday Classic…

Some things are worth fighting for

At This Time

It definitely wasn’t safe to openly practice being a Jew in Israel at that time. As other times down through history different people of different nations have tried to eradicate Jews and their Judaism. It never began with cattle cars, concentration camps and ovens. It began with yellow stars and discrimination. At the end of WWII the world joined us in vowing #NeverAgain, and now there has been a self serving attempt to cheapen that phrase by a money grubbing, attention seeking political pawn who is protected by armed guards even as he oinks out that those that can’t afford paid protection be rendered defenseless. Little swine.

Did we think that would be the final attempt after the final solution? Well, it wasn’t.

Rashida Tlaib to lead congressional trip to Judea and Samaria

One of the two new muslims elected to congress. She is leading a group to Israel, but not to visit Israeli Jews, Arabs, Christians and Druze. Nope, to visit the ancient people (est. 1964) Falestinians. The other muslim Ilhan Omar of Minnesota is also no friend.

Tlaib in the interview also came out in support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, which she said brings attention to “issues like the racism and the international human rights violations by Israel right now.”

Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, the other Muslim woman elected to Congress in November, said in an interview shortly after the election that she supports the BDS movement after saying during her campaign that it was “counteractive” and prevents dialogue.

What do people not yet accept or understand about “taquia”?

New Hampshire Town Reject Menorah Display, Citing Vandalism

One might think it’s becoming unsafe in America for Jews to openly admit or display their faith. One would be correct. From wonderful Jack Engelhard in a column titled Americas Hidden Jews. This whole column is well worth reading.

Professor of Jewish and Holocaust studies at Columbia University Elizabeth Midlarsky is about the only one at the college who dares to identify herself openly as Jewish.

Let that sink in.

Remember, this is America. This is New York.

A few days ago she walked into her office to find it vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti. “They got me,” she told The Washington Post. “I’m afraid.

And then we have Airbnb or AirBS depending on if you ask the company or me what their name is. AirBS is a site where people can list property, apartments or rooms they have to rent to vacationers. They have recently decided parts of Israel aren’t in Israel. So any of the Jewish homes listed in Judea and Samaria, the Biblical heartland, were removed. Not the Falistinian ones mind you, they’re still listed. Just not the Jewish ones. Have they done this in any other part of the world where there is dissension occurring? Why do I bother asking? Of course not. It is flat out anti-semitism. Are they being called out for it. Nope.

Remember in the Hanukkah story how a Hellenized Jew was going to sacrifice a pig on the alter in Modiin since Matthias Maccabee refused to do so? Matthias killed the corrupted Jew, and then the King’s officer that was commanding such a thing. There would be no pigs sacrificed on alters in the Maccabee name. The Hellenized Jews were trying to corrupt the pure ones. They’re still active today.

America’s Jewish left endorses anti-Jewish discrimination

American Jewish peace activists who have spent much of their lives fighting discrimination against ethnic minorities, have decided there is one form of discrimination they support: discrimination against Jews who reside in Judea-Samaria.

Angry At Airbnb For Boycotting The Settlements? Birthright Does The Same Thing.

According to the leftist Jews, that most likely do celebrate Hanukkah, as most all Jews do celebrate Hanukkah, Modiin, land of the Maccabees, IS NOT IN ISRAEL. Nope. Who knew?

I think Daniel Pipes of the Middle-East Forum has the answer to this one. ‘It’s time for Israel to declare victory’

Daniel Pipes is determined to make it clear to the Arabs in Judea and Samaria that in order to survive they must recognize Israel.

The Maccabeean revolt was a two fold war. One, it was incredible military victories, G-d gave many many miracles over the years the battles were fought. The other was the war of faith, religion or culture. However you choose to look at it.

I think I’m going to have to disagree with Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks this time. In his Hanukkah message this year he seems to me at least, to believe the great battle was for education, not military battles. I believe without the military battle of G-d through the Maccabees, there would have been no educational victories. To quote Dinesh D’Souza yesterday, he was discussing the difference between George H.W. Bush and President Trump. He said “sometimes you need Mother Teresa, and sometimes you need Dirty Harry”. I would add and sometimes, no one less than Judah Maccabee will do.

Self Defense notions from a Patriarch

So this last week the Parasha was Vayishlach. This is an exciting portion. It’s when Jacob/Yakov/Israel returns home from his exile working for his crooked uncle Laban. Yakov had fled his brother Esav’s murderous rage after Esav regretted having sold his birthright for a bowl of beans, lentils. Esav didn’t value his birthright in the least. Probably a message in there for those that would pressure Israel to give up land for peace. It never works, because like Esav, they just always want more and don’t keep their end of the bargain. So, Yakov is returning home with his wives, their handmaidens and 12 children, a passel of camels, donkeys, sheep, goats and some servants. Yakov has done well, he is a very successful shepherd. But, he is in a quandary, what will his meeting with his brother be like? Will Esav still want to kill him, or will time have mellowed him. Yakov sends angels to ascertain his intentions. Turns out Esav hasn’t changed a bit. He’s heading towards Yakov with 400 men. Yakov is way outnumbered.

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed (Gen. 32:8)

From Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks:

The fear is understandable, but his response contains an enigma. Why the duplication of verbs? What is the difference between fear and distress? To this a Midrash gives a profound answer:

Rabbi Judah bar Ilai said: Are not fear and distress identical? The meaning, however, is that “he was afraid” that he might be killed; “he was distressed” that he might kill. For Jacob thought: If he prevails against me, will he not kill me; while if I prevail against him, will I not kill him? That is the meaning of “he was afraid” – lest he should be killed; “and distressed” – lest he should kill.

And this brings us to self-defense.

One might argue that Jacob should surely not be distressed about the possibility of killing Esau, for there is an explicit rule: “If someone comes to kill you, forestall it by killing him.” Nonetheless, Jacob did have qualms, fearing that in the course of the fight he might kill some of Esau’s men, who were not themselves intent on killing him but merely on fighting his men. And even though Esau’s men were pursuing Jacob’s men, and every person has the right to save the life of the pursued at the cost of the life of the pursuer, nonetheless there is a condition: “If the pursued could have been saved by maiming a limb of the pursuer, but instead the rescuer killed the pursuer, the rescuer is liable to capital punishment on that account.” Hence Jacob feared that, in the confusion of battle, he might kill some of Esau’s men when he might have restrained them by merely inflicting injury on them.

Self defense is very definitely a Jewish concept, but unlike his brother Esav who delights in it, Yakov will do so if required, but he wants to avoid it. The taking of a life is not something to be done lightly. So what did he do to try to prevent needless loss of life?

He had a three pronged approach. Prayer, he threw himself on G-d’s mercy, he sent lavish tribute female and male goats, sheep, donkeys, camels all with the proper proportion for the most effective breeding program. Sort of a gift that keeps on giving. But then he prepared for battle. He divided his people into camps, his thinking was that if one camp was attacked the other might escape. Then he had the children with each of their mothers. Yakov knew the four women would fight for their children, so he left the children with their mothers, then he placed himself in front of them. Esav would have to go through Yakov to get to his family.

I’ve heard the opinion that if Yakov had really trusted G-d there would have been none of this battle preparation business. He would have just gone and met his brother. I don’t agree with this opinion. I think people are people and they have plans of their own. Plans I may not appreciate or agree with. I think if their plans concern me, I want a say in how they turn out. As Esav’s plans would have included Yakov’s family, I figure he felt the same way. There are cemeteries with those that refused to believe anything bad would happen to them. I’ve heard that there were Jews in the Warsaw ghetto that refused the chance to escape because they didn’t really think the nazis wanted to annihilate them, and perhaps, because they expected a miracle. I heard Rabbi Tovia Singer say in a lecture that while the Jewish nation will always be preserved, that promise does not extend to individuals. I’ve also heard it said that when you pray for help, you usually have to do something, expend some kind of effort for him to have something to help you with. And so, Yakov had his three pronged approach, which ultimately was successful. There was no battle between brothers, only a brotherly meeting, with quite possibly temporary brotherly feelings judging from Yakov’s refusal of Esav’s offer to escort them. It’s like having a black snake to guard your chicken house from mice. Yeah….the snake may eat the mice, but more than likely it is eating the chicken eggs, and/or baby chicks. I’ll pass, and Yakov did as well.

Yakov and concealed carry holders face a moral dilemma. More from Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks.

Moral dilemmas are situations in which doing the right thing is not the end of the matter. The conflict may be inherently tragic. Jacob, in this parsha, finds himself trapped in such a conflict: on the one hand, he ought not allow himself to be killed; on the other, he ought not kill someone else; but he must do one or the other. The fact that one principle (self-defence) overrides another (the prohibition against killing) does not mean that, faced with such a choice, he is without qualms, especially given the fact that Esau is his twin brother. Despite their differences, they grew up together. They were kin. This intensifies the dilemma yet more. Sometimes being moral means that one experiences distress at having to make such a choice. Doing the right thing may mean that one does not feel remorse or guilt, but one still feels regret or grief about the action that needs to be taken.

Even people of great faith, realize that there is a time to “Praise the L-rd and pass the ammunition”.

There is nothing about being prepared with a gun, a concealed carry endorsement if your state requires it, that says you don’t believe that G-d can and will keep you safe. We have fire extinguishers and spare tires, right? We have generators for bad weather, and carry an umbrella. The right tool for the right time.

That I think, is one of the things about concealed carry holders that leftists, politicians and the #FakeNews (sometimes one in the same) don’t understand about “gun nuts”. We are not anxious to kill, we don’t want to do that. What we do want is for us and our families to be safe.

Heat seeking bullets, who knew? Did BassPro have these listed in the Black Friday flier?

Self defense is not a spur of the minute deal. We put thought into what gun, training tactics, classes and tests to be able to live as free citizens. Just like Yakov had his three pronged approach for meeting Esav, we too plan our defenses.

These mixed feelings were born thousands of years earlier, when Jacob, father of the Jewish people, experienced not only the physical fear of defeat but the moral distress of victory. Only those who are capable of feeling both, can defend their bodies without endangering their souls.

Because like Yakov facing Esav, there can be bigger, stronger, mightier evil that hates us.

Signs of Hope

I get a weekly newsletter from Rabbi Johnathan Sacks called Covenant and Conversation, this week’s edition is about The Courage of Persistence. It’s always about the Parashat for the week. This week is Toldot. In this newsletter he talks about anti-semitic attacks in the Parashat. When the Philistines filled in the wells of Avraham for example. But a lot of it talks about the dichotomy of antisemitism.

As he points out in Amy Chau’s book World on Fire

Her thesis is that any conspicuously successful minority will attract envy that may deepen into hate and provoke violence. All three conditions are essential. The hated group must be conspicuous, for otherwise it would not be singled out. It must be successful, for otherwise it would not be envied. And it must be a minority, for otherwise it would not be attacked.

He further points out: Hostility to Jews becomes dangerous, she argued, not when Jews are strong, but when they are weak. This is along the lines of what Moshe Feiglin said in his column after the Synagogue shooting in Squirrel Hill.

But there is something more, deeper than the economic factor, which makes us partially responsible for what happened in Pittsburgh. Jewish history is being written today in the Land of Israel. It is clear to all of us that anti-Israel sentiments are the new expression of Anti-Semitism. When Israel is sure of itself, strikes its enemies as it did in the Six Day War, eliminates the hijackers as in Entebbe – the level of anti-Semitism decreases!!! And when Israel displays lack of self-assurance, temporariness, moral flaccidity – a feeling that we are not really on the map, that we are nothing more than colonialists acting only for the sake of self-defense, begging the Hamas for a cease-fire – then our enemies feel that they are just and anti-Semitism flourishes.

Rabbi Sacks continues on,

Antisemitism is a complex, protean phenomenon because antisemites must be able to hold together two beliefs that seem to contradict one another: Jews are so powerful that they should be feared, and at the same time so powerless that they can be attacked without fear.

It would seem that no one could be so irrational as to believe both of these things simultaneously. But emotions are not rational, despite the fact that they are often rationalised, for there is a world of difference between rationality and rationalisation (the attempt to give rational justification for irrational beliefs).

So, for example, in the twenty-first century we can find that (a) Western media are almost universally hostile to Israel, and (b) otherwise intelligent people claim that the media are controlled by Jews who support Israel: the same inner contradiction of perceived powerlessness and ascribed power.

He shows another way that the current situation in Gaza where the peaceful Falestinians so love the land of Israel and long to return to it that they are bombing, setting fire and trying to destroy it.

There is a second aspect of our passage that has had reverberations through the centuries: the self-destructive nature of hate. The Philistines did not ask Isaac to share his water with them. They did not ask him to teach them how he (and his father) had discovered a source of water that they – residents of the place – had not. They did not even simply ask him to move on. They “stopped up” the wells, “filling them with earth.” This act harmed them more than it harmed Isaac. It robbed them of a resource that would, in any case, have become theirs, once the famine had ended and Isaac had returned home.

But in the wake of the shooting at Squirrel Hill, I’ve been hopeful. Why? Because some are beginning to see that self-defense, and defense of others is necessary and right.

As Dave Kopel points out in his excellent paper on The Torah And Self-Defense

This last sentence is sometimes translated as “If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first.”

This final sentence does not delegate discretion; it is a positive command. A Jew has a duty to use deadly force to defend herself against murderous attack.

Emphasis mine. It is our duty and a positive mitzvah to defend ourselves!

Returning to something in Rabbi Sack’s newsletter, “Jews are so powerful that they should be feared, and at the same time so powerless that they can be attacked without fear.”

Ahh, but these times they are a changing.

Then there is CAMP JABOTINSKY, they seem to have been around awhile. Just an FYI, my baby Shimshon’s middle name is Zev, after Zev Jabotinsky. It’s fitting, it means “Wolf”.

Rabbis offered free AR-15 rifles by Colorado gun shop. Four claimed them, owner says

This made me a little sad, as did this comment at the end of the article.

“I think he absolutely is generous in what he wants to do,” Ader said. “I think he wants to help and is very well intentioned. It just isn’t for us.”

Arming people, Ader told the TV station, “is a preventative measure, it is not part of the solution at all. The solution is civil discourse.”

I absolutely know he is entitled to his own opinion, but I don’t think he realizes yet that there are people out there that want to kill you, your congregation and there is not one thing civil or un that you are going to say to them to have a dialogue.

Some in Jewish Community Advocate Bearing Arms After Pittsburgh

Ahh, yes. These times they are a changing. It doesn’t matter how you want to dress that pig up.

Anti-Zionism IS Anti-Semitism

It’s still anti-semitism, it goes way back, it is unreasoning and it’s lethal. It is also much, much harder to implement if the target of your irrational hatred is armed and realizes they have a duty to protect themselves, their families and their community.

A friend of mine asked me after the shooting, “Why didn’t someone shoot the man? Why didn’t they stop him”? I pointed out I didn’t know the gun laws in Pittsburgh, but I rather suspected that being big city on the east coast perhaps they have pretty strict gun control and they had been legislated out of their right to self-defense, and therefore, their right to live. This is what happens when you elect big government, people controlling leftists.

Perhaps the new members of the Second Amendment community will begin to understand a big part of the Second Amendment is fighting to keep it because there are most certainly those that prefer an unarmed populace.

Should I mention the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht is tonight?

ZAKA is on the scene

זקא‎ is the abbreviation for Zihuy Korbanot Ason. זיהוי קרבנות אסון, literally: “Disaster Victim Identification”

And I’m very tired and sad to hear it, yet again. For those that don’t know, ZAKA is a volunteer group that comes to the scene of a terrorist attack or a car crash or any such tragedy and gathers the body parts, pieces and blood of the Jewish victims so that they may be buried in accordance with Halakha, Jewish law. They also help with search and rescue, but I think they are best known for working with law enforcement and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) units to ensure that the necessary things are done. ZAKA volunteers prefer the work be called חסד של אמת – “Grace of truth” because the kindness they are showing the dead can not be returned by them. I would translate it as “kindness of truth” myself.

And ZAKA was on the scene in Pittsburgh.

ZAKA was on the scene because a Bucket of Chum entered the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill on Saturday and opened fire during a Shabbat service. Eleven people lay dead. An elderly Holocaust survivor survived a maniac yelling all Jews must die by being late to the service.

‘It just never ends. It’s never completely safe for Jews. It’s in the DNA. Not just America’s DNA but the world’s.’

He’s right it doesn’t. And with that in mind, doing what we’ve been doing isn’t getting us anywhere.

I’m not really sure why anyone is surprised at the attack. The signs have been there for ages, I know TZP has certainly covered them. But there is a problem, it’s like taking your modern college snowflake leftist out to the woods and dropping them off in the middle of the woods with their $tarbuck$ double non-fat soy whatever and telling them there is a 300 pound grizzly bear in the woods, track it, or avoid it. Read the signs and you’ll be fine.

The snowflake doesn’t think it needs to read signs, it will be non-threatening to the grizzly and just drink it’s latte and it will all be fine. Yeah? Ignore some signs at your own peril. That’s not how life works, it can be how death works though.

Following the attacks what did we hear from the left, both Jewish and Goyim (the standard Hebrew biblical term for a nation)? Mostly what we heard was condemnation of President Trump, the anti-Semite, for the people on the right as “haters”, climate of hate, etc, etc.

I’m far from the only one who is appalled. Caroline Glick Left-Wing Jews Blaming Trump Are Dishonoring the Dead

Glick noted the prevalence of anti-Zionism on the left and within the Democrat Party. Marlow said, “[There is] a mainstreaming of anti-Zionism in the Democratic Party.”

“There is a huge problem with the empowerment of anti-Semites,” said Glick. “You have several Democratic nominees for Congress who are running on openly anti-Zionists platforms. Anti-Zionism is out-and-out anti-Semitism. It calls for the annihilation of the largest Jewish community on Earth, in Israel. … [Trump] is the most supportive president Israel has ever had, [and] they’re calling him an anti-Semite?”

Glick added, “There’s an insanity that’s infected the discourse inside of the Jewish community that doesn’t allow people to understand what the real threats are. Rather than deal with that, these radicals are making up stories. It does no service to the Jewish community in the United States to not pay attention [and] focus on actual anti-Semites who are actually involved in harming the position of Jews in American society, either politically or physically.”

….

Glick added, “A lot of people on the left in the Jewish community who are not seeing their interests because they’re blinded by ideology. Obviously, when you have congregants in a synagogue that are armed and capable of defending themselves and their fellow worshipers, you’re much safer than you would be with an alarm system or anything else in the face of somebody coming in and trying to massacre you.”

Glick observed, “People in general, in Israel, are better armed [than in America]. We have armed guards outside of every school. … It’s not considered to be a big deal. … This is just common sense.”

Glick concluded, “If you’re under threat, then you have to protect yourself. … It’s about life and death, and when you just concentrate on the fundamentals of the value of life and preserving the most precious thing in the world which is human life, then you come up with pragmatic ways of protecting it.”

Don’t Insult Me As a Rabbi by Blaming Your Political Enemies for Some Dirtbag Jew-Hater Rabbi Dov Fischer, you should really read the whole column.

So I respond: Don’t you dare insult me as a rabbi by blaming your perceived political enemies for some dirtbag Jew-hater. This President could not be a better friend of Jewish concerns and causes. He supports Israel and moved America’s Israel embassy to Jerusalem. His daughter and son-in-law are Orthodox Jews, and he treats them lovingly and respectfully, as he does their Orthodox Jewish children, his grandchildren. He ended Obama’s vicious anti-Israel animus, and he has supported Israel strongly in the United Nations. No wonder that Jews throughout the world love him, support him. In Israel, among Israeli Jews, he is wildly popular with a 67% approval rating. They hated Obama — and for great reason.

Some have become so caught up in the media lies and propaganda they can no longer see the truth of who is their enemy and who is their friend. They call what is good bad, and what is bad, good. The left wing of Judaism appears to me, to be more concerned with the worship of liberalism than Torah. Well, what do you call it when Jews daven Kaddish for the arabs that tried to infiltrate Israel from Gaza with the openly expressed purpose of ripping Jewish hearts from their chests? When they burn the land and shoot rockets into schools and homes? When they openly state they want to kill the Jews, and Jews in the diaspora daven Kaddish.

Synagogue shooter hated Donald Trump and shows what real hatred, anti-Semitism looks like

Donald Trump is often blamed by the media as inspiring attacks and violence, but he is not anti-Semitic. The synagogue shooter shows what hate is.

Dr. Tsvi Sadan points out Pittsburgh Massacre is Splitting the Jewish World this is not a long column, and well worth reading.

Jewish lives need to matter to Jews everywhere. Moshe Feiglin did a column on the massacre in Squirrel Hill.

At a political event in Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn asked for a moment of silence for the victims. That lasted a few seconds when leftists interrupted heckling the Representative. Wow.

The world is not worried about Jews being attacked, and the left is not our friend, and has not been for a long time. These are a couple of the observations that showed up on a Zehut list I’m fortunate enough to belong to.

Whatever happens to Israel happens to the rest of the world! A world that insists Israel not fight back, that insists Israel make peace with murderous infiltrators who came across our borders as economic immigrants who slaughter us at will at our Shabbat tables and our infants in our cribs. Who curse us with the worst kind of racist invective if we don’t allow violent, Jew hating infiltrators into our communities. What happens to us will happen to you– mida kneged mida. I’m not hating I’m explaining how justice works. This is not just aimed at Pennsylvania. This is aimed at the world. What happens here will happen there. Just ask Germany, France and the UK. Remember Genesis 12:3..Those who bless Israel are blessed, and those who curse Israel are cursed. If only you feared G*d you’d know it’s true.

And

My wife was pointing out how silent social media has been since yesterday’s attack. No viral hashtags of solidarity. No “je suis juif”. No black armbands worn by team athletes in national leagues (which they wear for the smallest of thing, find an excuse almost weekly). But spilled Jewish blood is not worthy of sympathy. It’s not notesworthy, and it’s to be expected. I’m sure there’s millions of people that, underneath their mask of politically correct niceties are pretty happy about this. What I keep wondering is: if I had lived in Austria in the early 30s, and had known what was coming, what kind of a life would I live? What choices would I make for myself and my family? This is a sobering moment. Jews have always been and will always be alone. We may buy our way to the top of the pyramid in gentile society (like Yosef also did) but sooner or later the weight of the entire pyramid is unleashed against us. Jews are the one single “other” capable to unite in hatred Islamic Jihadists, crazy SJWs and white supremacists.

The signs of danger are not what the media and those on the left say they are. The signs of growing anti-Semitism are the plethora of BDS and Free Falestine groups that abound on college campuses. They are professors refusing to write letters of recommendation for students that want to study in Israel, and they get by with it more than once. They are the embracing of Farafreak who compares Jews to termites with no denouncement. What? The View went full out nuts over that statement? No. They are the constant attacks on Israel in the U.N. The signs may be called “Anti-Zionism” or “Anti-Israel” as they call the only democratic state in the middle east an “apartheid” state, but it is anti-Semitism and that’s all it is. The same dirty thing recycled with a new brand label. It’s Jew hatred, period.

Below is a list of columns I’ve done for TZP and a general idea of what they dealt with.

Enough Only Mourning—The death of the most wonderful Ari Fuld

LETS GO FLY A KITE—blame Israel

BUT HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN—The history of gun control and Judaism

The Double Edged Standard Sword—hypocrisy, the BS- BDS

#Neve Tzuf Halamish— The slaughter of the Solomon family in their home as they celebrated Shabbat and a new baby.

Hate in America—the SPLC which spreads disinformation and lies.

The Disconnect—Disgraced Harvey Weinstein called on Jews to be disarmed for things like a Synagogue attack.

Tisha B’Av. From Within—Liberal vs Judaism

We’ve been showing the warning signs for what they are. As I said, I’m not really all that surprised. People may not think President Trump condemned it in a way to suit them, but radio host Mark Levin called it the strongest condemnation of anti-Semitism by any president, ever.

So, what’s the answer? Bear dealt with this beautifully. I want to go a little further down the trail though.

I have never made any secret of the fact I greatly admire Judah Maccabee, and from the book of The Maccabees

Ch. 2 ; Ver. 39-49 ^ First Book

Victory of Now when Mattathias and his friends understood hereof, they mourned for them right sore. And one Mattathias of them said to another, If we all do as our brethren have done, and fight not for our lives and laws against the heathen, they will now quickly root us out of the earth. At that time therefore they decreed, saying. Whosoever shall come to make battle with us on the sabbath day, we will fight against him ; neither will we die all, as our brethren lo that were murdered in the secret places.

Fight, on Shabbat. Neither will we die all.

Nechemiah Chapter 4

10And it was from that day on, half of my youths did work and half of them held spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail, and the rulers were behind the entire House of Judah.

11The builders of the wall and the carriers of the loads were loading, with one hand doing the work and one holding the sword.

12And the builders, each one with his sword bound to his waist, and [they were] building, and the one who sounded the shofar was beside me.

There have absolutely been times in our history when our wise leaders knew we needed to be armed, ready and willing to defend our lives, even on Shabbat.

Robert Harris makes the point in his column Only fellow Jews can protect their brothers in shul

If G-d forbid there is more to come – that hired guard standing in front of shul will be the first victim of an anti-Semitic gunman, guaranteeing another synagogue massacre

If a taboo was broken on Saturday and American synagogues are going to become magnets for violent anti-Semites, then American Jews will have to protect themselves.

We saw in Pittsburgh that it is not possible to save Jewish lives by waiting for the police to come and do so. For within minutes on Saturday, 11 Jews had been shot down and killed by a single gunman.

As we have heard since the massacre, the response among many Jews will be to hire armed guards to stand in front of synagogue buildings.

However, if an anti-Semite plans an attack on a synagogue, the first bullet must be for that bored and surprised guard standing by the front door.

We can choose how we stand

And that is exactly how it played out in the Kirkwood city hall massacre in 2008. The police were easily identified. The predator know they need to remove the sheepdog before they can kill the sheep. It is why concealed carry is effective. If you don’t know if people are armed, and you don’t know who is armed it sure changes the game.

A gunman went on a shooting rampage at a public meeting in the city hall, leaving six people dead and two others injured. Bucket O’Chum, 52, shot one police officer with a revolver across the side street from city hall and took the officer’s handgun before entering city hall. Bucket O’Chum reached council chambers with these two pistols shortly after the meeting began. There, he shot a police officer, the public works director, two council members, the mayor, and a reporter. In total, the gunman killed five and wounded two others; one of the two wounded victims, the mayor, later died. The gunman was then shot and killed by police

The answer is for us to be armed. If someone wants to walk into our Shul, and try to open up the response needs to be more like the bar scene from Code of Silence. Minus the language.

But I will leave you with thoughts from Rabbi Zev Weinberg. I’ve been fortunate enough to take a class from the Rabbi that I owe much to, and very much admire. There is much wisdom in what he has to share.

Tikkun Olam? Try preventive maintenance.

In the wake of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, I was horrified to find this blog post from the past summer.

We Deserve Better
How insightful was he, that he really understood an essential truth about the government. Despite continuous calls for sensible gun control and mental health care, our elected leaders in Washington knew that it would fade away in time. Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in the mid-term elections, I fear that that the status quo will remain unchanged, and school shootings will resume. I shouldn’t have to include in my daily morning prayers that God should watch over my wife and daughter, both teachers, and keep them safe. Where are our leaders?

Where are our teachers?

Who is that calling for more victim disarmament? Rabbi Jeffrey Myers… of the Tree of Life Synagogue. Their teacher.

Tikkun olam: “repair of the world”

It sounds nice. In theory, it is; though the concept has been corrupted. But, as a technician with decades of life experience, I can offer an improvement on the concept.

Fixing problems is good. It’s necessary from time to time. But I learned a long time ago that a little basic maintenance prevents the need for a lot of repairs.

Since gun-controlling victim disarmers often resort to a cars:guns analogy, let me preempt that.

In calling for gun control to fix the problem of violent crime, Rabbi Myers does the equivalent of “fixing” the problem of flat tires by encouraging everyone to remove them from their vehicles. True, one won’t have much of a flat-and-I-left-the-jack-in-the-garage problem, but you still aren’t going anywhere.

And you’re left at the mercy of those who didn’t give up their tires. With luck, you’ll only encounter good-spirited types who’ll offer you — stranded at the side of the road — a ride.

Or you might meet with those who’ll extort you for a ride, or worse.

Did Rabbi Myers teach his people to “fix” violence by ridding themselves of the tools to deal with it? Did he point out that evil bastards, who’d happily reenact the Shoah, still exist and aren’t surrendering their weapons?

Let me address something else. Shannon Watts whines that someone will say those people should have been armed.

Yes. I do. A history of armed defenders in places of worship does show they can save lives.

And then there’s this idiot.

Trump kept saying in his chat with reporters that if there was an armed guard inside the synagogue that the “numbers” would have been a lot lower . The fact is if there was no guns at all , there wouldn’t have been a shooter in the first place. Get a grip

Get a grip on reality, Horan. Guns exist. Anti-semitic lunatics exist. For that matter, Knife-wielding lunatics exist, as well bombers.

Armed defenders should have existed.

There would be a lot less grief, rage, pain, and fear to “repair” if someone had done some preventive maintenance.

Maccabees or Basel

Warsaw Uprising or Auschwitz?

Youth With a Mission or Tree of Life Synagogue?

Any rational person should understand the value of preemptive protection — preventive maintenance, but Jews have thousands of years of experience from which they should have learned.

Teach, rabbis.

Enough Only Mourning

On the morning of 18th November 2014, two POS*i from Jerusalem entered a synagogue, in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem, Israel, and attacked the praying congregants with axes, knives, and a gun. They killed four worshipers, critically wounded a responding Druze Israeli police officer, who later died of his wounds. They also injured seven male worshipers, one of whom never woke up from a coma and died 11 months later. The two POS were then shot dead by the police.

And all Israel mourned.

In January of 2016 a POS stabbed 38 year old Dafna Meir to death in front of some of her children. Dafna, a small woman worked as a nurse at Soroka Medical Center in my beloved Be’er Sheva. She fought with him to keep him from killing her children. Dafna lived in Otniel, a town in Judea. She feared for those who worked on the emergency squads, usually volunteers.

And, she said, she feared for emergency medical crews from Otniel who rush out to help those who are hurt nearby.

“Maybe there are traps” waiting for the rescue teams, she worries. “It’s frightening! And when they go out, in the first minutes before they arrive, maybe they have time to think, ‘Who will I meet this time? Maybe a neighbor, a friend, a wife?’ That’s the horrible reality.”

As it turns out, the terrorist was employed in Otniel, he just walked right in the front gate. People that had been good to the POS and given him a job, let a terrorist in to kill their neighbor.

And all Israel mourned.

On March 8th, 2016 a POS* from Qalqilya in Samaria stabbed 28 year old Taylor Force in my beloved Yafo, along with several others. Taylor died and several others were seriously wounded. The attack was stopped when the POS was shot and killed by police. In 2016 the US put forth the Taylor Force act, and it was signed into law on 23rd March of this year by President Trump. The law is simple, the Taylor Force Act would cut U.S. funding to the Falestinian Authority until it ends its policy which distributes $300 million to terrorists and their families annually.

From Arutz Sheva

A recent report found that more than half of the PA’s yearly budget goes to terrorists, with more than $1 billion having been dedicated for such purposes in the last four years alone.

Despite pressure to end the policy of paying the families of terrorists who murdered Jews, PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas reportedly told the United States last month that he has no intention of doing so.

“I do not intend to cease paying salaries to the families of prisoners and martyrs, even if it means I lose my position. I will continue paying their salaries until my dying day,” he said.

That can’t come soon enough. That is money that is suppose to be helping the “poor suffering falestinians”, it never has.

Many Israelis expressed their sorrow and condolences to the Force family.

And all Israel mourned.

On the 21st of June 2017 a POS broke into a home in N’vei Tzuf and butchered 3 people. The family had gathered to celebrate Shabbat and the birth of a new grandchild. A neighbor in the IDF was home on leave and shot the terrorist, who did not die. He will now be supported by Israeli taxpayers in an Israeli jail where he can gain weight like Shirley Temper and go to school.

For a list of recent murders and how much the murderer gets paid, you can look here

For a good article on the history of the land ownership, since that is the excuse given.

I do think this group, Otzma Yehudit, are on the right track.

“The only way to curb the ongoing terror threat facing Israel is by creating true deterrence that will convince potential terrorists that they have more to lose than to gain. Therefore, it is necessary to implement the death penalty for convicted terrorists, facilitate the expulsion of their families to Gaza and greenlight home demolitions.”

It was a horrific and bloody attack.

And all Israel mourned.

This is only a tiny fraction of the atrocities. Sunday when I was at work I got a message that Ari Fuld had been killed. Ari Fuld was a lion, yes, that was a play on his name, meaning lion.

Ari moved to Israel in the 90s. He served in the IDF in the Golani Infantry Brigade. He had a miraculous story from his time in the service. He spoke out tirelessly for Israel and the truth. He broadcast live on Facebook during the forced evacuation of Netiv Ha’avot, he debated liberals on ILTV, he had a radio show on Israel Newtalk Radio. Podcasts of Bulletproof available here. He had a YouTube channel, he was involved in Standing Together which supported the IDF soldiers, Ari’s latest project was Cool-A-Chayal providing cooling collars for the soldiers who often worked in 100 degree or more heat. He was active on Facebook, Twitter and MeWe. He was put in Facebook jail a few times, which is when he went to MeWe. I know this, because we talked about it.

I first became aware of Ari when I saw him on ILTV and he literally kicked butt and took names. He just smoked the liberals. I found him on Twitter, read through some of his tweets and sent him a message that he had done a fantastic job, and where I had seen him. Probably one of thousands of messages he got like that. I listened to Ari’s views of ILTV and his YouTube Channel, read him on Twitter and sometimes Facebook, but he was starting his own website in English because Facebook was too censoring. Note how he has to write muslims. Facebook has a real aversion to the truth. And Ari told the truth, bluntly without political correctness, straight up. I tried more than once to get him to join Zehut, his views certainly lined up with ours. In fairness of disclosure I am a card carrying member of Zehut. Zehut actually has a workable win-win plan to deal with the Falestinians in Israel. Where are they going to go? I wish it had been implemented 5 years ago. Or in 1948, or 1929, or. Any of those would have been good with me.

But Ari was famous for his man on the street conversations.

You didn’t get one by on Ari, he knew his facts.

On Sunday 16th of September 2018 Ari went to the market to do some shopping for his wife Miriam. The 45 year old Ari and Miriam had 4 children. He was at a shopping center that had a mix of arab and Israeli shoppers. A 17 year old POS from Yatta had been inspired by Abu Mazen. Abu Mazen’s latest lies. From an article I found on Elder of Ziyon, which originated at The Gatestone Institute,

In a speech before the PLO Executive Committee in Ramallah on September 15, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas repeated the old libel that Israel was planning to establish special Jewish prayer zones inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Abbas claimed that Israel was seeking to copy the example of the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, where Jews and Muslims pray in different sections.

Abbas did not say what his lie was based on. He also did not provide any evidence of Israel’s ostensible plot against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He said, nevertheless, that the Palestinians, together with Jordan, were planning to bring this issue before the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.

I don’t know of one Jew that wants to go to the Alka Seltzer mollusk. I however, would like to go pray on Har HaBayet, Temple Mount but I can’t because I’m not muslim. How messed up is that? But the Falestinians are so stupid, they keep falling for the lies over and over and go forth to wreck lives based on Abu Mazen’s (sponsor of the Munich massacre) lies.

So the 17 year old POS set out with a knife. He bravely stood behind Ari in line at the shopping center and then stabbed him in the back. Being a brave arab and all, that brings him great acclaim. Hamass openly praises murder of Ari Fuld Apparently what passes for “bravery” in some arab circles has a very low bar.

Haaretz cited a source close to the Jabarin family as saying that the teen informed his parents that he planned to carry out an attack at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. He was not found near the tomb, and then carried out the attack near Efrat.

Other sources say the FA says the parents reported nothing.

Ari drew his pistol, gave chase, jumped over a stone wall and with another armed bystander shot the POS who has been taken to an Israeli hospital to be treated at Israeli taxpayer expense. Ari was taken to a hospital as well, where he was pronounced dead.

Woman Says Ari Fuld Shot Terrorist as He Tried to Stab Her

An employee of a West Bank falafel shop said the Palestinian teen who stabbed Ari Fuld was running at her brandishing his knife when Fuld shot him.

…..

She said that after the teen stabbed Fuld, he began running toward her brandishing the knife. Peretz said she started running away from him shouting terrorist.

…..

I started running down the stairs but [Jabarin] jumped to try to get in front of me. The man that was killed really saved my life, she said of Fuld. He s not just a hero. He gave his life for me.

Captured by surveillance cameras, which did nothing to stop the attack, or apprehend POS. Ari is in the blue shirt. Just by the by? The woman he saved is Falestinian.

This good brave decent man is dead because of lies told to arabs, because of a culture that celebrates the death of such good men. A 17 year old POS educated with UNRWA hate filled text books, a culture of hatred and a diet of lies.

Oslo has claimed another victim.

And all Israel mourns.

I mourn, I respected an admired Ari. He fought and didn’t back down, he knew his stuff and worked tirelessly around the world to help Israel, as well as his community and family.

Oh, you will hear on the media that the IDF will destroy the terrorists home. They won’t. They will destroy the terrorists room in the house, and the FA, Falestinian Authority will build a newer nice room, they will pay the POS money for the rest of his life, may it be short and unpleasant.

You know what? Enough. Enough with the mourning. I.AM.TIRED.OF.IT.

I don’t want a terrorist’s room destroyed. I don’t want foundations left, I want a smoking hole in the ground. I don’t want a POS in jail getting chubby and educated by the Israeli taxpayers. I want the death penalty. The POS was shot by Ari and a armed bystander. There shouldn’t be a moderately wounded terrorist. There should be a dead terrorist. I want Israel to lift ammunition restrictions and limits. The citizens need more ammo to practice. Get shot while committing a terrorist act in Israel? You won’t be getting treated in an Israel hospital from now on. The IDF will load you up in a Jeep and drop you off at a FA hospital or the Gaza border. They can treat your sorry self with their state of the art medical expertise. I want the terrorist’s whole family deported to Jordan, Iran, Syria, Iraq, I don’t care where, one of those should work well, and I want it done by next week. Israel was going to pay Uganda to take the illegal immigrants, fine. Pay Uganda 5 grand to take the whole miserable family. But remove them from Israel, follow the Zehut plan, send the family to Saudi Arabia. The terrorist won’t be going cause he’ll be dead because the death penalty will be reinstated. So, no FA money is going to reach anyone. The US has been cutting funding to the FA, and while many claim the money was going to “help” if you read the link about how much Abu Mazen pays the terrorists, I think it’s obvious that wasn’t happening. Gaza? Come on, that war could be finished in a day, if Israel would fight to win. Enough, just enough, too much. How many thousands of acres burned? How many families live in terror of the arabs getting through the security fence? It’s like some weird kind of Stockholm Syndrome or battered spouse mindset. No matter what they do to you, you accept their accusations against you and try to behave differently so they won’t find more fault with you. That isn’t going to happen. Nothing short of annihilation will suit them. “From the river to the sea”.

“All who are merciful to the cruel in the end become cruel to the merciful” (Qohelet Rabbah on 7:16, cf. Midrash Zuta; Tanḥuma, Mezora 1; Yalkut Shimoni, 1 Samuel, 121).

We’re there, we’ve done passed that marker. In the effort to be politically correct, to win the world and the U.N.’s acceptance and approval, or at least less condemnation, there is cruelty to the merciful. In this case Ari’s family. The terrorists really don’t fear what will happen to them, they’ll be in a comfy jail, eating and learning, they or their families will be raking in big bucks, and the FA and Hamass have no reason to change anything. There needs to be a reason to want to make peace and get along.

What laws have changed since the Har Nof massacre until Ari’s murder? None really. This isn’t working. America put forth the Taylor Force act, can Israel please come up with the Ari Fuld act? I’m tired of seeing “All Israel mourned” in the news.

Ari Fuld’s Parents door

A friend from Zehut sent this picture tonight of the front door of the Fuld home, thank you Aryeh.

This was Ari’s last video. It was on the Parsha from last week.

It’s short, as is the Parsha. In it he stops teaching at one point because his daughter is getting ready to go out and he stops to give her a blessing. But the topic is handing over the reins of leadership because Moshe couldn’t continue on with them. Poignant or what? So Ari has done amazing prep work, but now others must pick up the torch and carry on. In doing so, the 17 year old waste of oxygen may have killed his body, but Ari’s spirit and work will live on. I’m angry, I’m very angry. Mourning is not changing anything, it’s not stopping anything, they kill on, undeterred. We need to deter them.

Ari Fuld, HY”D, Hashem yinkom domo, השם ינקום דמו May G-d avenge his blood. And I, I mean every single word of that.

I Support Liberal Gun Control

I think I need to reconsider my stance on gun control. I had an interesting conversation with Professor Yitzhak Goldstein this evening. We were lamenting the decreasing number of young people that seem to be involved in Second Amendment rights groups. We then began to discuss possible reasons, which got me to thinking about things I’ve read recently. I think I see a pattern here.

Let’s just briefly touch on a not that long ago incident. A liberal college professor was so unfamiliar with his students and so distrusted them, that when the Kansas legislature began to allow students to have the means to defend themselves as hundreds of other college campuses have, he was so scared he wet his depends and then wrote out his letter of resignation, or it could have been the other way round, who knows. He was soon followed by a female college professor with the same lack of knowledge of her students. So, if you didn’t remember this, there is a backstory.

Around 11th September a group of students at the fine institution of Goldsmith’s University in London decided to showcase their fantastic knowledge of history by replying to a teacher they disagreed with that they would send her to the “gulag”. The teacher I think, understandably took offense. The students then “enlightened” the poor misguided uninformed teacher about gulags.

Gulags, really? Who knew!

The reality?

Historians, however, have concluded that Stalin’s gulags were used to jail everyone from petty criminals to political opponents, including gay men and women.

The report said, “Soviet files show that 1,053,829 people died in the camps between 1934 and 1953, mostly as a result of deliberate starvation.”

The Christian Institute estimated that about 20 million people were incarcerated in the gulags, with “prisoners working up to 14 hours a day in extreme weather. Countless numbers died.”

Hmm, I’m continuing to wonder about the state of higher education. It seems that higher education has become the stronghold of the liberal left. Which makes one part of this article seem strange to me. I agree with most of it though. Who is pushing Jews out of academia in the US?

Dr. Sharona Aharoni-Goldenberg, an expert on the struggle against BDS, says that the Trump administration’s decision, according to which anti-Israel activity on college campuses will be defined as anti-Semitism, is a turning point in the fight against anti-Semitic activity on campuses.

“This is a very important decision. The BDS movement today, which really appears to be activated by an invisible hand – and the feeling is that it is funded by totalitarian elements – works to remove Jews from academia. There is real activity against Israeli lecturers, regardless of their position or opinion, but rather because they are Israelis,” Aharoni-Goldenberg said in an interview with Israel Hayom.

“The activity is not just against Israeli lecturers. If you are a Jewish professor who uploads a post for Israel, you will be fired,” she says. “It’s not a parable, US lecturers who worked against ‘Apartheid Week’ were fired from the institutions at which they taught. The same applies to many Jewish students who simply feel uncomfortable on campus.”

All spot on Dr. Sharona, except this part.

“This anti-Semitism is against Israelis and against Jews, regardless of their position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The boycott is also against people on the left,” she said. “The BDS position is that we have to bring 5 million Palestinians back into the Green Line and destroy Israel.”

No, no Dr. Sharona, the problem is coming from the left. Think about Jeremy Corbyn, the one in the UK that should he become Prime Minister about 40% of Britain’s Jews are planning to flee. You have to recognize your enemy or you will get blindsided every time.

The tolerant left, which tells us to celebrate diversity (as long as it is approved by them). Student allegedly rips MAGA hat off classmate’s head, slaps teacher

Little Miss Chumette Bucket decided that stealing private property from another student, assaulting them and then assaulting a teacher is an acceptable “political statement”.

In cellphone video, a teacher is seen trying to subdue fired-up 17-year-old senior Chumette Bucket after she became enraged at a classmate for wearing the MAGA hat.

She grabbed the hat off his head.

“That’s a racist and hateful symbol,” Bucket said.

……

“Maybe just wake people up in some type of way, because it’s not cool, the environment our classroom is in,” Bucket said.

EXCUSE ME????? The environment the classroom is in?? Who assaulted another student and a teacher because of a innocent hat?? Correct, the profanity spewing tolerant leftist which feels violence towards someone she disagrees with is acceptable.

Then there’s the interview with her Dad.

Doesn’t think she maybe should have handled it that way, but maybe it was a conversation that needed to happen.

YOU. IDIOT.

What conversation took place? What do you think was accomplished? You Mr. Bucket, are a part of this girls problem. And she does have problem, she assaulted a fellow student and a teacher and is standing there grinning like a possum and proud as can be of herself. Either she has no clue how to fit into polite society or she is on some sort of medication, and looking at her eyes, that might be it. Or maybe she is just not right in the head. As her parent? I’d give you an F-

So, I’m saying that educational institutions have a strong leftist bent, very strong, very bent. So bent we have a sociology professor in Las Vegas that carried a concealed pistol that the did not have a permit to carry, concealed into a gun free building on his campus and, shot himself in the arm. But hey, he’s thoughtful. Why?

Inside the bathroom, campus police found a $100 bill taped to a mirror along with a note that said, “For the janitor,” according to Bird’s arrest report. On the floor of the restroom was a black-and-white, .22-caliber pistol and one spent shell casing.

Why? Because he wanted to protest President Trump.

Nope, not making it up. So, I’m going to advise Professor Yitzhak that I think we need to revise our opinion of liberal gun control. I think liberals absolutely need to be thoroughly vetted before they are even allowed in the same room with a gun. And that is why liberals want gun control, they think we are like them, they think we think like they do. They have their isolated ivory tower and are turning out indoctrinated little Chumette Buckets. They teach them how evil the Zionist state is. The one Jewish state in the world, by the way, but don’t dare call them antisemitic. How bad guns are, people can’t be trusted with them, except of course for their paid bodyguards.

But here’s the deal. Ivory towers and schools most often these days, are not reality. Conservatives know this. We know life can be unpredictable, we choose responsibility, we choose preparedness. We know theory quite often, isn’t reality.

Munich 1972

I’ve been watching all the memes and the news about some spoiled overpaid, loser becoming a model for what I feel is an over-rated shoe. If that’s what passes for an athlete and man of valor these days we’ve sunk quite a bit.

Munich, 1972 Athletes

If you want a refresher on what happened,
