This week’s TZP poll asks “What’s the most effective way to stop mass public shootings?”
I should add that in coming up with that question I have no expectation (unlike our starry-eyed anti-gunner “friends”) that we can prevent all violent, crazy jerks from being violent, crazy jerks. Feel free to interpret “stop” to mean either “discourage creeps from even trying it” or “end it — NOW.”
You can only choose one option in this poll, but I know your thoughts are likely to be much more nuanced. So as always feel free to comment away!
You’re right Claire, can’t stop the psychos and sickies, but it would go a long, long way if every single GUN FREE ZONE is eliminated, NOW. IMHO, as always. 🙂
I feel that we need to get rid of ALL GUN FREE ZONES. Because they are not doing what they were set up to do. in fact they are doing the exact opposite. And if we look back at the most recent mass shootings all of them except the one where Rep. Gifford was shoot were ALL IN GUN FREE ZONES. Gun Free Zones are nothing more that KILLING ZONES that criminals and crazy people go to, to do their dirty deeds. And they go to these Gun Free Zones knowing that there will be no one thin them that will be able to shoot back and defend themselves because THEY OBEY THE LAW. Whereas the criminals and crazy people don’t. So I say GET RID OF ALL GUN FREE ZONES AND START LETTING LAW ABIDING CITIZENS DEFEND THEMSELVES BY ANY MEANS THAT THEY CHOOSE. And if they choose a gun then so be it.

After the Paris train incident and a few others — where unarmed people fought back and ended the attack and/or subdued the suspect — I believe that ending the infamy, notoriety, and (dare I say?) glory the media heaps onto Society’s Perpetual Losers in the aftermath has edged itself into the “single most effective action” slot. Ending “gun free zones” is a close second.
But ending the infamy will probably never happen, or won’t happen anytime soon. So I’d take my second option, too. 😉
Require small arms training for all teachers, k-12, and college, and require them to be armed.
Do away with gun free zones
Repeal all laws against owning and carrying guns.
Repeal all license requirements for carrying a weapon- including knives.
Require firearms training in school “Eddie Eagle” style for younger kids, safe handling and use for older
