My apologies for being a bit late with this week’s poll. Sometimes life just makes you crazy.
Today, we want to talk about “smart” guns. Would you ever buy one? Under what conditions? Why? Do you consider them risky? Do you think they’re cool?
Assume it’s a voluntary thing. No one is forcing you. They’re just something that is available on the market.
Enjoy, and feel free to comment.

It’s interesting that so far no one would even buy one as a curiosity. I have a POS Jennings (the one that was sued out of existence) just because it’s a POS and the company has an interesting history.
I think that’s an artifact of the poll type. If it was ‘choose all that apply’ you’d probably see a few votes for novelty by people who would never dream of using it for EDC.
SMART = Tracking you.
My “other” answer is NO. Plain old no. Don’t need any reason.
I wouldn’t own one on a bet. Technology is subject to failure, whereas century old mechanically tech is dependable as the ability to find sinners in church. Second, the technology used can be ‘shut down’ readily with an RFID interrupter – and you can find plans for them on the web and even videos on YouTube. I’ve seen one you can hide in your ball cap (just wait until the bad guys build these hats to disarm cops….). The range isn’t great, but you can disable any handgun within range. I also saw an RFID reader that can be converted to broadcast a simple Java command to shut down. Booyah! Your gun is now a hammer. Last, I doubt parts will be readily available since control of the armed citizens is the entire point.
And then there’s the whole ‘control by the authority monkeys’ thing….
My “other” vote was like Mama Liberty’s.
“No. Just No.”
My “Other” vote was: Maybe, IF I win the lottery, and ONLY to show others how “dumb” they really are.
IOW, as a curiosity, or a bad (perfect?) example of market/government overreach.
