New Poll: Ammo Purchases

bulletsWe are wondering if current events are having an impact on how much ammunition you purchase.

Are you stocking up, because you have some bucks to burn?

Are you buying less, because you’re out of room?

Are you going to be getting to the range more often this year?

Tell us what’s up, and let us know in comments!

  1. None of the above. I have a good supply, purchased when prices were more reasonable. I make the best use possible of every round fired in practice. There is no rational reason to fire thousands or even hundreds of rounds at a time for practice. Fun if you can afford it, of course. 🙂

    1. I do tend to do that. I get so excited, that before you know it, I’m through like 500 rounds in one sitting. LOL It’s just fun. Not that I can afford it!

      1. I’ve always been entirely too “scotch” for that. I consider I’ve gotten carried away a few times when I empty two magazines in a single session. (They each hold 16 rounds)

Dry fire, of many kinds, is the logical answer. I include all sorts of role playing, imagining potential situations, movement while shooting (snap caps) and shooting from every position I’m capable of getting into. I do point and shoot, draw and fire, and everything else I can think of. Then I go to the range to recreate as much as possible of that, with a loaded gun and as much live fire as seems good.

I introduce my students to this program too, in small numbers and with even greater safety measures, of course.

That’s a tall order for a partly disabled, 70 year old lady, but I think I’m about as ready for self defense as I’m going to get.

  2. Dry fire is the best practice because of the cost of it!

There may be a day where a brick of 22lr will feed a family for months.

  3. My “Other” answer: Less. The applauded “economic recovery” is costing me a fortune!

Hard to buy ammo when you can barely pay the essentials. Our budget’s “food” line item has nearly doubled in cost despite our shopping list remaining virtually unchanged, and the “lower-cost renewable energy solutions” from the power company increased our bill by 50%. I just got a raise with the new year, and the second it kicked in the “extra” was ear-marked to cover the price increases on the same level of service we bought last year. We’re no better off for it.

ammo is cheap and plenty now

whenever what is going to happen happens one of the first things they will do is start pulling the ammo off the shelves like they did in baltimore:

if youre not already prepared for whats coming times running out…

“The winning stock market strategy right now”

5 to 10 acres in a defensible place with an off the grid water source. Greenhouse. Fractional precious metals in .223, .40, .45, .22LR, etc. Some stock like chickens, a pig or two, beef on the hoof. Hunting skills. Stashed starches in enough quantity to live for at least two years. Heirloom seeds.

Hard times are coming. Harder than most Americans can even imagine. Harder even than The Great Depression. Root, hog, or die, and the weakest go to the wall. Those who survive the culling will create a society with a *low tolerance for bullshit* and *high expectations* of the people it accepts as full fledged members.
