Memorial Day and Yom Yerushalayim 2025

Today is both Memorial Day, and Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day.

This is not a “Happy” Memorial Day kind of holiday. Memorial Day should be dignified, it is about paying respects to those who sacrificed all, who served with honor. How it morphed into a “Memorial Day Sale” kind of holiday or worse “Happy Memorial Day” kind of holiday is baffling to me. But I suspect public (lack of) education plays a role.

So I will give you a couple of musical tributes.

First Trace Adkins with Arlington

Then the late Toby Keith with American Soldier

I’m in awe of these valiant warriors that G-d created. That something inside of them that compels them to fight to protect their hearth, home and family. And I’m filled with disgust for those that abuse that nature.

All gave some, some gave all.

Yom Yerushalayim was also a day of battle. It was a great miracle, if you need background or history on what happened that great day, and some video clips (great ones) you can check out these previous columns. It’s the 28th day of Iyar. There are others, this is just a couple of them.

The Power of One, Yom Yerushaylim and Memorial Day

The results of leftist thinking and policies haven’t improved any.

And because I’m writing this, you know you’re going to get a video clip with the words that always make me cry in awe and with joy. הר הבית בידינו

Har HaBeyit BeYadenu, The Temple Mount is in our hands.

This one has good footage, English subtitles over the Hebrew words, and of course Motta Gur’s famous declaration. Around a couple of minutes.

For my second clip, Jerusalem of Gold, it has English subtitles as well.

The two do go together. Memorial Day and Jerusalem day, despite being half a world apart. Freedom, liberty and joy as embodied in Jerusalem Day are made possible in societies that hold those things to be of value, and are fought for by the heroes honored on Memorial Day.

I’m grateful.
