Why even watch the video?

I ran across this story: Former CDC Doc: You Can Reduce Gun Deaths Without Restricting Guns. I was going to watch the video, but after reading the intro..

Why bother?

“More people die from gun deaths than from car accidents every year in the United States.”

Not according to the CDC’s WISQARS.

Year MVA Firearms
2016 40,528 38,658
2015 38,022 36,252
2014 35,647 33,594
2013 35,612 33,636
2012 36,654 33,563

“However, while research-based policies have reduced motor vehicle deaths, federal research on firearm deaths is nearly non-existent.”

“Nearly” is such a useful term when you want to lie without… quite lying. The federal government does fund research into firearms-related deaths. It’s difficult to find a summary of such funding, but from checking individual papers (just where the funding is explicitly listed) it appears that the feds fund it to the tune of several hundred thousands of dollar per year. At least.

“That’s due to the Dickey Amendment, which says Centers for Disease Control funding cannot be used to promote gun control.”

The Dickey Amendment only addressed CDC operations, because it was caught diverting research funds to gun control advocacy; i.e.- they weren’t researching. Other organizations like the NIH have been free to study firearms, and do.

“Soledad O’Brien sits down with Dr. Mark Rosenberg, who formerly oversaw gun violence research at the CDC”

In fact, Rosenberg was the victim-disarming gun control promoter at the CDC who caused the passage of the Dickey Amendment, largely with this statement: “We need to revolutionize the way we look at guns, like we did with cigarettes. Now it [sic] is dirty, deadly and banned.”

That’s right; he’s the one who was diverting money away from real research, and to — very likely illegal — political activism.

I did try to watch the video, though. And stopped when O’Brien flat out stated that the Dickey Amendment was passed to stop research.

Don’t bother; it’s just biased media lying to push its agenda again. Still. Constantly.

A-CLUe-less: “A Pro-Liberty Case for Gun Restrictions”

They lost me at:

Overall, the ACLU does not generally engage in either side of the gun control issue.

Except when they do.

“Pro-liberty.” Someone is in dire need of a dictionary.

In particular, those who support expansive gun rights as a protection against excessive government power should strongly consider how much government intrusion and expanded power they’re willing to trade for those rights.

And what kinds of intrusions might those be?

  • Increased physical searches, including ever-expanding checkpoints, bag searches, magnetometers, body scanners, pat downs, and more. Call it the “airportization of American life.”
  • More surveillance.
  • A growth in databases, watch lists, investigations, and background checks that set the government rummaging around in our personal lives.
  • More armed police and guards at more and more civilian gatherings, potentially down to every Little League game and church picnic…
  • More police shootings.

Oh. Wait. That’s exactly what would be needed to enforcement the sort of “pro-liberty” infringements the American Criminal Life Union wants. You know: NYC stop&frisk, which they hated. FISA warrants, which they hated. Armed guards… well, the ACLU like “gun-free” zones. And do you suppose armed criminals avoiding arrest under the ACLU’s new “pro-liberty” victim disarmament laws might be involved in the occasional police shooting?

Idiots.

Cautiously Dubious: SCOTUS Nominee Brett Kavanaugh

I’m still researching this guy. I’m not overly thrilled with some political stuff in his background. On the other hand, the LA Times says this:

Kavanaugh appears to support broader gun rights under the 2nd Amendment. In 2011, he filed a 52-page dissent when the appeals court, by a 2-1 vote, upheld a District of Columbia ordinance that prohibited semiautomatic rifles Kavanaughand magazines holding more than 10 rounds. The judges in the majority, both Republican appointees, noted that several large states, including California and New York, enforced similar laws.

But Kavanaugh said the ban on semiautomatic rifles was unconstitutional because the weapons are in common use in this country. “As one who was born here, grew up in this community in the late 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and has lived and worked in this area almost all of his life, I am acutely aware of the gun, drug and gang violence that has plagued all of us…. But our task is to apply the Constitution and the precedents of the Supreme Court, regardless of whether the result is one we agree with as a matter of first principles or policy,” he wrote.

Maybe. But to the LAT, anything short of full support for outlawing all firearms (except, somehow, the criminals’) looks like a rabid, pro-RKBA radical.

Then there’s this line from the National Review

“Brett Kavanaugh is basically John Roberts 2.0, a product of the Bush Administration and the conservative legal elite,” says Dan McLaughlin of the conservative “National Review.”

Joy. Another “conservative” who, once on the bench, acts as if wholely owned by the Democrats?

On RKBA, Kavanaugh appears to be acceptably constitutionally-minded. On other issues, like taxes, he’s weaker in terms of individual rights. We’ll simply have to wait out the confirmation process (which will be quite a circus; possibly even more so than the usual SCOTUS nomination).

Just remember that Kavanaugh has been nominated by a man who ran on a pro-RKBA platform, then directed the DOJ to regulate/ban inert plastic accessories as machine guns in crazed contrast to reality, opening the door to a “machine gun” ban on virtually every repeating firearm in existence.

If only I could ask questions of Kavanaugh in confirmation hearings.

  • Do words have meaning?
  • Will your decisions be based on the constitution as written, or as interpreted under the latest fad for imagined fairness in outcomes?
  • If one must demonstrate “standing” by being damaged by a law before filing suit against it, must one wait to be shot before exercising self-defense?
  • Does due process matter? Does due process still matter in ERPOs”?

That’s a start.

What questions would you like to hear during the confirmation?

Chicago Car Violence Protest

This past Saturday, Rev. “Snuffy” Pfleger (so named for calling for gun store owners to be “snuffed out,” a crime by anyone else) led thousands in a protest of the Interstate highways in Chicago to protest violence. Car violence, one might assume from the location.

You’d be mistaken. They were protesting “gun violence.” And the drug war, for jobs, for free money, and “a plan to improve schools.” I suspect culling the stupid by wandering into expressway traffic will do more to improve schools in the long run, than any formal “plan.”

But, basically, they were protesting “gun violence” by inconveniencing folks who aren’t committing it, in an area where it doesn’t much happen compared to certain, specific neighborhoods. Go figure.

Perhaps they were merely “raising awareness” of gun violence. So they have to bring it to the attention of those not committing it; the criminals already know.

Or maybe they’re cowards.

If Father Snuffy wants to impress me, he should organize a march into the neighborhoods infested by the gangs and drug criminals who are committing the “gun violence” (mostly against each other, their competitors). They can walk arm in arm and protest the Adidas Boys, Black Disciples, Crazy Gangsters, Latin Stones, assorted Vice Lords, and a few dozen other known gangs. Inconvenience those people, Pfleger. If you have the guts.

Go for it, Rev. March into those neighborhoods and call out the armed gangbangers. Threaten to “snuff out” a few of them and see what happens. Experience the violence inherent in the system first hand. You might want to leave your wallet at home.

Ah, but maybe Snuffleupagus doesn’t know where to find them. After all, his fellow marcher Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson (and why is the PD participating in — endorsing — an unlawful act?) doesn’t seem to be able to locate the bad guys.

Allow me to assist you, Snuffer. Or, more specifically, let ChicagoGangs.org do the cops’ job: names, locations, descriptions. Everything you need to identify the violence-prone neighborhoods and responsible gangs.

Go tell the violent criminals to stop the violence, and let the innocent be.

It’s time for Pfleger to put up, or shut up.

The Thunder Rolls

A few years ago Garth Brooks did a song called The Thunder Rolls, the song opens with the sound of rumbling thunder. Actually a lot like what I’ve been hearing lately. And I don’t just mean the weather, I mean the nation.

Crap. What could go wrong.

So, a couple of questions. Maxine Waters is now concerned about children and, G-d in on their side? Since when does the rabid left care about G-d, and I’d be interested to see Maxine’s voting record on a couple of funding issues. I’d also point out while Maxine is in full bray about children being separated from their parents in detention centers that under George Bush there were family detention centers. The left did away with them. Brandon Darby has been covering this issue for a long time. A nine minute video worth watching. You’ll possibly learn some interesting things. I know I did. For the left the answer is let everyone in, open borders. Doing the jobs fewer Americans are willing to do, namely vote Demoncrat.

https://www.crtv.com/video/ep-192–why-didnt-liberals-care-about-kids-at-the-border-under-obamas-watch–white-house-brief

Pro-tip: When you hear the media obsessing about something, and Rachel Madcow or some of them sobbing hysterically, that’s a good time to really pay close attention to some more conservative news outlets, because there is more than likely a good reason for the full throated bray coming from the liberal mouth, and it’s usually distraction from something rather important. Media Turning Trump Voters into Public Enemy No. 1

Unreliable Sources

What mad Maxine is referring to is an incident that took place recently, actually more than one.

Twice in the past week, activists have posted information on employees of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the agency that carried out Trump’s policy that required children to be separated from their parents who were arrested for crossing the U.S. border illegally. Amid national bipartisan outrage, Trump abruptly reversed course last week.

…..

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielson was met with protesters when she dined at a Mexican restaurant in Washington, DC, last week, as was Stephen Miller, a senior adviser to Trump on immigration policy and architect of the “zero tolerance” policy that led to the family separations, at another Mexican restaurant.

…..

And on Friday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant in rural Lexingron, Va., because the staff and owners disagreed with Trump’s policies.

Actually, based on President Trump’s tweet about the incident, she and her family probably got off lucky.

The Red Hen Restaurant should focus more on cleaning its filthy canopies, doors and windows (badly needs a paint job) rather than refusing to serve a fine person like Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I always had a rule, if a restaurant is dirty on the outside, it is dirty on the inside!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 25, 2018

In this case, I suspect he’s right because it seems the restaurant is far more concerned with virtue signaling and social justice than customer service, proper sweet tea, biscuits and black-eyed peas. Doubt me?

Wilkinson told the Washington Post that some of her LGBT employees were apparently triggered by the presence of a Trump administration official and suffered massive microaggressions.

…..

The Post reported that staffers “knew Sanders had defended Trump’s desire to bar transgender people from the military.”

Wilkinson said she gave staff members the final decision on whether or not to kick out the Sanders family.

“They said, yes,” she told the newspaper.

Wilkinson had been summoned to the restaurant by frightened staff members unsure of how to handle the situation.

I’m reading this and thinking you’ve got to be kidding. Did she throw a roll at them? Whack them with a dirty spoon? What? Unsure how to handle the situation? Did NO ONE train these people how to be waiters and waitresses? Hi, I’m Jenny, may I take your order? How’s about handling it like that? Summoned by frightened staffers, suffered massive microaggressions and I truly doubt in my deepest of occasionally present heart that any of her staffers had any plans of military enlistment, so I’m not sure at all how that figures in. But with all that trauma to the staff just by one middle age woman and her family eating there, when you think they even have time to care about clean tables, silver or floors? Let alone a clean kitchen. But did the fun stop there? Nope.

After they had been kicked out, Sanders and her husband left. However, the remainder of the party decided to eat at a restaurant across the street. That’s when Huckabee said the trouble continued.

“The owner of the Red Hen – who had just thrown Sarah out – organized a group of people to yell and scream at them at another restaurant,” he said.

The De-evolution of Civility and Manners

And to the left, this kind of behavior is not only acceptable, it’s encouraged.

And, there are those willing to rise to the challenge. Up next: 1970s-style bombings, warns progressive

Elaine Chao, wife of Mitch McConnell recently defended her husband from protesters who surrounded their vehicle and obviously hadn’t seen Brandon Darby’s video or they would have shut the heck up.

And then there’s this, Increasing threats to Homeland Security include burned animal carcass left on staffer’s porch. These are some seriously disturbed individuals.

The Politico’s take on it is typical left wing slant, to me. The left loses its cool but they did mention this incident.

Florida GOP Attorney General Pam Bondi required a police escort away from a movie about Mister Rogers after activists yelled at her in Tampa — where two other Republican lawmakers say they were also politically harassed last week, one of them with her kids in tow.

…..

According to Bondi, she and a friend were confronted at least four times — while buying tickets, entering the theater, standing in line at the concession stand and then on their way out — and that activists were aggressive in each instance, with one yelling so loudly at her that he spit in her hair, either unintentionally or because he meant to expectorate on her. She said they also taunted her friend as “blue eyes” and asked him in a threatening manner if he was going to protect her, as though they wanted to fight.

Shocking isn’t it? Thought they were concerned about women and their children? But here is how The Politico excuses and equates it.

Few disagree that Democrats are marching, protesting and confronting Republican officials with more intensity during the midterm elections than at any time in decades. The progressive fervor recalls conservative opposition to the previous president in his first midterm, when Democratic members of Congress were left running from disruptive town halls and ended up being crushed at the polls in November.

Shall I point out the difference in a politician at a political event like a townhall being called to account for their votes vs a government employee out to dinner with their family or a movie? I guess I should since The Politico sees no difference. Well, there is, it’s more of the later harassment that the left left by crazy Maxine is fomenting.

And where will this all lead? Trump aides urged to get a gun. Considering it is the left that is usually responsible for the majority of the attacks, it’s probably a good idea. It’s been about a year since Bernie supporter “Bucket-o-chum” shot Rep. Steve Scalise. I rather guess it will only be a matter of time before one of these mobs that loony Maxine is encouraging gets out of hand and violent. I mean just look at the rioting and arson we had with antifa and resist and and and. It should be no surprise, it’s where they go with this. Normal sane humans have no desire or intention to be targets or see their family beat up by nutty Maxine’s rent-a-thugs. They will plan and try their best to be prepared. Some politicians of course have paid security, or government provided security. But regular people, just going to work, doing their job, raising their family? We’re on our own.

I recently saw a new book has been released by Stephen P. Halbrook. Gun Control in Nazi-Occupied France. Stephen also recently did a column on Townhall on this very subject. Time for a History Lesson About Gun Control

Purportedly to fight violence in the streets, Germany’s Weimar Republic decreed gun registration in 1931, but warned that the records must not fall into the hands of radical elements. Hitler seized power in 1933 and used those very records to disarm political opponents and Jews in order to render them incapable of any form of resistance.

Political protest in France prompted Prime Minister Pierre Laval in 1935 to decree firearm registration and repression of the right to assemble. What could possibly go wrong?

The registration records were critical to the Nazis who overran France in 1940, imposed the death penalty for not turning in guns, and conscripted the French police to ferret out violators. Despite the chance of being executed, numerous French citizens did not surrender their firearms.

Today I figure that number of brave French could be as high as 3. Back then, 20-50. Perhaps I’m still cranky about the number of collaborators.

Today the nazis would have help in the shape of the UN, lead by Antonio Guterres.

Small arms control is a prerequisite for stability and conflict prevention, which is critical to achieve the mutually reinforcing goals of sustaining peace and sustainable development.

Only through sustainable development will we be able to build just, peaceful and inclusive societies and to achieve lasting peace.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is our agreed roadmap for building peaceful, resilient and prosperous societies on a healthy planet. Among the 17 Goals, there is a specific target to reduce arms flows, based on improving the tracing of weapons.

….

When the UN says they have to use “grassroots organizations” they’re meaning gun control groups, like Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action. They’re utilizing Americans to fulfill their desire to push gun control. Their reason? It looks better if Americans are demanding we abolish the Second Amendment instead of other countries tying to pressure us.

The United Nations can’t say Agenda 2030 — their plan for global peace — is successful if Americans are still armed and if the Second Amendment still exists. They have to completely get rid of armed citizens in America and the way to go about that is using our peers against us.

It’s almost like fruity Maxine and her willing useful idiots are trying to foment a situation where more people will be willing to call for gun control. They are not realizing like the little money Hogg, they are being used as political pawns. Although since money Hogg now has armed guards, maybe he just figures he’ll be one of the elites. But when discussing the UN and guns, it’s always necessary to remember as far as the UN is concerned, There is no human right to self-defense.

And this will be ugly, very very ugly. It’s as though the UN and the liberal leftists in America and Israel are working together. I’m sure they have for ages, but it’s getting pretty open now. If psycho Maxine is going to be leading hunts and attacks against conservatives, I’m sure it’s easier if you ensure they are defenseless first.

I’m far from the only columnist that’s hearing thunder rolling. Kurt Schlichter has an excellent column, Liberals’ Hatred Will Inevitably Turn Into Violence

But there’s no sign of sanity. This week they turned the hate up to “11,” then cranked it to “17.” There are not many places to go once you reach “You are real live Nazis murdering children by not letting aspiring Democrat voters flow into the country at will!” At some point, instead of a few wild-eyed randos with crummy aim trying to off libs’ political/cultural opponents, they are going to start collectively going to go for the throat.

Our collective throat. Which I do not anticipate us Normals responding to in a huggy, loving kind of way.

The whole column is good, really good. There is a reason the progressives are trying so hard to de-humanize conservatives and some Republicans.

In the meantime, I’m feeling microaggressed, or whatever. I think I should go tear down a statue and make myself feel better.

THIS is an offensive statue that should come down.

If it’s the gun…

How many times have I heard that it’s not the gun, it’s the people? But it is the gun. Without the gun there would be no shooting. That’s such an obvious fact — why can’t people see that?
Al Duerig

Then why haven’t 55 million to 120 million gun owners with at least 400 million firearms depopulated the nation?

Tens of millions of gun owners with 40% of the world’s small arms didn’t kill anyone today. If it’s the gun, why not?

In 2016 11,004 people were murdered with firearms. 64% of the killers had prior felony convictions. 88-91% of the firearms used were stolen, which means as many as 91% of the killers were criminals before pulling the trigger.

Just 7% of convicted criminals obtained their firearms through lawful channels. The rest broke laws restricting the purchase and possession of firearms.

55-120 million honest gun owners did not. If it’s the gun, why not?

What gang’s colors does the governor wear?

About that Trenton, NJ art festival shooting…

Right off the bat, I assumed it was gang related. And that’s just what the cops are saying.

I figured the shooter(s) would be prohibited persons already. And, at least, the dead one was; felony manslaughter, shot a guy to death.

And I assumed guns would blamed. Yep.

So Gov. Murphy thinks criminals sentences are too long. The dead asshole had been sentenceed to 18 years on the manslaughter charge. He picked up an additional 6 years for helping run a gang inside the prison. 2004 (year sentenced) + 18 + 6 = 2028.

Under ol’ Murph’s new policies, the scumbag got an early release in February of this year. Whereupon he apparently went right out and got another gun, somehow bypassing as those New Jersey laws that apply to the honest, non-criminal folks.

Seems Murph also defunded a post-release employment assistance program that supposedly helped reduce the recidivsm rate. Murph apparently thinks a life of crime is dandy.

Now, Jersey already had some of the toughest victim disarmament laws in the country, and the gov signed 6 more gun control bills into law shortly before this shooting. It makes it even tougher to be a law-abiding gun owner, yet somehow doesn’t stop early-released thugs.

Did Murphy suddenly see the error of his ways? Of course not. He’s calling for more victim disarmament laws.

So he lets violent criminals out, limits their non-criminal employment options…

And disarms their prey. How helpful.

Is it bribery, or is he a member of one of those gangs?

When the world goes crazy

I don’t think there is anyway to say it that makes it better. I’ve just seen one too many things recently that just makes it seems like there is a competition for the “Most insane or hypocritical” category. Though perhaps those two should each have their own category.

Let’s start with Israel. She is still under attack from the pieceful Falestinians. They are flying fire kites in an attempt to burn crops, vineyards, wildlife, domestic animals, people and anything else they can reach. This is because they love the land so deeply. Sort of like the abusive spouse that says they love you so much that if you ever try to leave they will either kill you and take everything. Yeah, boy howdy, if that doesn’t say true love I don’t know what does. L-O-V-E, like OJ loved Nicole. We want to return to the land we love so much, we’re going to burn it down, break through this security fence, invade a sovereign country and rip the Jews hearts from their chest. Nope, not hyperbole, that’s actually a quote.

So, you have the arabs of Gaza trying to throw the Jews off the land and out of their homes.

And, in the Nativ Ha’avot neighborhood of Elazar in Gush Etzion which is about 11 miles South of Jerusalem, the Capitol of Israel, it’s working!! Jews are being thrown off their lands and out of their homes! No no, not by the Falestinians or Abu Mazen, but instead by the Israeli (way less than) Supreme Court. Yes, once again the liberal Jew hating left has submitted a claim that one meter, one flipping meter of land that runs through the neighborhood is arab. Mind you, they can’t prove it, or haven’t yet. The homes were ordered destroyed in September 2016, and this overrode a State of Israel assertion that they homes were/are legal. Israeli politicians showed up, I guess to talk, because they certainly didn’t do anything useful, like stopping it! Judge Ayelet Shaked was there and has said it’s unnecessary. You see, when those homes were built 15-20 years ago, the state certified that the land was all-cool and fine to build on. Now because of a leftist group fifteen homes are going to be destroyed. I watched Ari Fuld live stream from the scene of the impending crime and he nailed it as self-hating Jews on the Supreme court. Mind you they still haven’t proved the arab claim on the one meter. But, the homes are being destroyed. After Amona, I’m so ticked I’m not using any of the words that I think apply. A group of young Israelis circulated a petition to stop it. That didn’t work either. I watched the people singing and dancing in one of the beautiful homes, it’s heartbreaking especially after Amona.

I think someone needs to have a serious talk with the Jewish Agency and tell them this sort of thing really puts a damper on people wanting to move to a country that will throw you out of the home you’ve lived in for 20 years on the whim of some left-wing group or a spurious claim of an arab that may not have even known he “owned” the land until two weeks before. And, quite possibly found out through the efforts of the aforementioned left-wing group.

And since under Bibi Netanyahu this keeps happening, I sincerely, most sincerely hope that Israelis will begin to listen to the message of Moshe Feiglin and Zehut. If this is breaking my heart, I can only imagine the pain of those going through it.

But this leftist hatred of Jews goes way back. I read an interesting article by Stephen Schecter of Zehut. He was talking history, specifically the Dreyfus affair. And he nails it.

The Dreyfus Affair unleashed a torrent of anti-Semitism in French society at the time, an anti-Semitism which proved to be European when it culminated in the Nazi pan-European program to incinerate its Jewish population. Today, Israel’s very existence has unleashed a torrent of anti-Jewish vitriol whose ultimate denouement remains to be seen.

It is in that sense that one can simply state that Israel is a reincarnation of the Dreyfus Affair, but one which goes on and on, and which will only end when Israel, and the Jews themselves, decide to put an end to it. Unfortunately, there are today too many Jews who place themselves on the side that vilifies Israel, without even the decency of the French Jews of Dreyfus’ time who simply kept a low profile. Their excuse was most likely they felt vulnerable as a minority in a country that was not their own. Today they have no such excuse. Israel exists as a Jewish state. In working to destroy it, however, these latter-day Jews will reproduce the helplessness of their French co-religionists of a hundred years ago, and thus bequeath to history the ironic footnote of Jewish complicity in their own demise.

Not that Franceistan is far better today. Macron’s Overt Antisemitism

Macron’s logic and morality run along the same lines. If the move of the American embassy to Jerusalem breeds violence in Gaza, it is morally and politically imperative not to do it. Peace above all, even if it means the clogging of the arteries of Israel’s heart, is good for Israel, and for the world, according to this moral anti-Semitic argument. To balance it off, Macron draws moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas by refusing to address this entity’s expressed supreme goal of destroying Israel. Peace, the anti-Semites will argue, is more important than Israel.

Somehow it always seems to be Israel that the nations are willing to lead to the alter for sacrifice. Even the left-wing Jews, maybe even especially the left-wing Jews. For instance, crazy Bernie Sanders

Bernie’s smear pushes the Democrats further away from Israel

He has adopted the Palestinian narrative about the “Great March of Return” in total. He not only accepts the blatantly false claim that it is “non-violent,” thereby ignoring the use of Molotov cocktails, stones, firearms and incendiaries that have laid waste to swaths of Israeli fields. He also claims that Hamas wasn’t involved despite the fact that it has already claimed responsibility and admitted that most of those killed while attempting to breach Israel’s border fence were members of the terror group.

What a hateful, horrible lying man. He also lied about the number of deaths during the 2014 Gaza war, he gave even higher figures than those Hamass fabricated. How pathetic is that? He needs his meds/adjusted/started/re-evaluated/whatever.

But Bernie is a elitist. No matter what happens to the little people, he’s above it all.

No armed teachers in schools? No worries, Illinois Demoncrats hates the kids so much they are getting rid of the armed guards. Illinois House approves measure to replace armed school guards with mental health professionals Because obviously Demoncrats recognize having armed guards or armed teachers will do nothing to help. Unless of course you are an elitist. Like for example obama Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, one of those responsible for Common (rotten to the) Core failing program.

Anti-Gun Arne Duncan Sends His Children to School with Armed Security

On May 20 Breitbart News reported that Duncan suggested Americans ought to pull their kids from school until Congress passes more gun control. He said he and his family would even be willing to take part in the school boycott if it were done “at scale,” i.e., if there were broad-based participation in such a boycott.

……

Jewish World Review reports that Duncan’s children “attend the exclusive, private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in tony Hyde Park, which a Lab Schools brochure brags is ‘patrolled by the University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) and private security.’”

So, as long as we are discussing elitist hypocrisy and the resultant craziness, let’s take a look back at a well remembered and despised catholic priest known as Father Michael Pfleger. Don’t recall the name? He’s the priest that threatened to “snuff out” the owner of Chuck’s gun shop. Actually he threatened to “hunt him down and snuff him out”. For some reason I would take that as a threat. Maybe I’m just sensitive? Not content to let it go with merely threatening one man, the good father then threatened to “snuff out” legislators that didn’t vote the way he told them. Ahh yes, Chicago mob politics. Oops, sorry, Chicago Church politics. That was back in May of 2007. And yes, he is still the priest at St. Sabina’s. Well, it seems the anti-gun priest who goes around threatening to murder, not kill, murder people has armed bodyguards, one of whom was arrested on 27th May 2018. Yep, police showed up and found the “bodyguard” holding a gun. I use quotes because it seems there is some discussion as to if he really is a bodyguard.

Records with the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation show that Hale’s FOID card expired in December 2017. Records also show that he is certified to work in Illinois as a security guard, and that he was once disciplined but it doesn’t explain why.

A May 29 blog post on “Second City Cop” referred to Hale as “Pfleger’s security” and said that “Pfleger and his minions called 006th dist (sic) nonstop to try to get the guy out of arrest.”

How elitist and entitled. There was also discussion as to whether or not St. Sabina’s priest has armed guards.

When asked about Hale’s relationship with the 68-year-old Pfleger, a church secretary told Chicago City Wire only that Hale was not a bodyguard. He deferred further questions to Pfleger, who did not return a call to clarify whether he employed Hale as private security and whether he called CPD asking for Hale’s release.

Susan Thomas, a spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Chicago, wrote in an email that “Fr. Pfleger does not have armed security and to our knowledge, neither does any other priest.”

Well, Susan Thomas, you’re in for a real shock. The people at Guns Save Lives have a delightful collection of pictures of St. Sabina’s father with his armed “bodyguards”, and they are printing. Discretion must not be their forte, just as sanity or decency is not Father Phlegm’s of St. Sabina’s.

But, when you’re an elitist hypocrite, that’s just how you roll.

And since Chicago is so concerned with guns, gun owners and gun crime I’m sure their court system is set up to handle things in a swift and just manner, right?

I know, I crack myself up too. It’s Chicago.

Prosecutors: Gun Offender Was Free On Recognizance Bond When He Got Another Gun And Killed A Man

(Judge Stephanie) Miller—a champion of the county’s “affordable bail” movement—let Williams go free on a recognizance bond after he was charged with possessing a stolen handgun on the South Side.

……

On February 9, Williams hit the trifecta, according to police and prosecutors: He stayed out after his unenforced curfew; he got a gun, and he shot someone to death.

……..

On February 21—the very day that Williams first failed to appear in court—Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart sent a letter to county leaders including Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. Dart was concerned about the “alarming” number of people charged with illegally possessing handguns who were being released on electronic monitoring.

But the terms of Williams’ release were so loose, he wasn’t even on electronic monitoring, according to court records.

Preckwinkle responded a few days later, accusing Dart of “sensationalizing” the issue.

Pat Milhizer, a spokesman for Chief Judge Timothy Evans, also fired back at Dart: “The types of cases addressed by Sheriff Dart are gun cases — but they are gun cases in which nobody was shot or killed. That means the charge is not an inherently violent charge.”

YOU’VE.GOT.TO.BE.KIDDING.ME!! This is Corrupt Chicago where priests go around threatening to “snuff out” law-abiding citizens and legislators, which I get, given Chicago may not be the same things. You are living in high crime gun control central, and they have a man who was released on a recognizance bond after possessing a stolen gun, no monitoring. He gets another gun a few months later and kills someone and the county board President accuses the Sheriff who is concerned, with sensationalizing the issue. So, if a criminal has a gun that’s not “inherently a violent charge”. Wow. Wow. But a law-abiding citizen with a gun to protect themselves or their families from Judge Stephanie Miller’s release on recognizance bail. Oh HECK no! They don’t know what they are doing, Father Phlegm will show up and threaten to “snuff them out” and the go back to St. Sabina’s to preach whatever it is he preaches at the Roman Catholic Church. I’m guessing it’s more along the lines of social justice than anything Moshe brought down from Mt. Sinai.

And for the cherry on top of the crazy. There is a Muslim Imam, Imam Mohammad Tawhidi that I admire. He is very strong and brave, very brave. He follows us on Twitter. That alone isn’t remarkable, we have Israeli followers, Iranian followers, Kurdish followers, all kinds of followers. But Imam Tawhidi is very unique. He speaks out against radical Islam, vocally, forcefully and often. Often as in daily. He’s known as the Imam of Peace. He calls Hamass a terrorist organization. People want to hear what he has to say, it’s an important message in this day and age of the UN siding with terrorists, Franceistan, Germany, and Englandistan all harboring, aiding and encouraging terrorism of innocent Israelis and the Jews in their countries as well. Social media has been a big part of spreading Imam Tawhidi’s message.

And so, Facebook banned him. Yep, Facebook, with it’s well know bias against Jews and Israel, banned a peaceful, decent, brave Imam.

Is Facebook Biased Against Jews?

When it comes to incitement, is Facebook biased against Israel?

Is Facebook Biased Against Israel and Jews?

Perhaps stung by that criticism, mere days after two Muslims murdered fourteen people in San Bernardino, California, CEO Mark Zuckerberg vowed that Facebook would “create a peaceful and safe environment” for Muslim users.

Oy. Vey. Vay.

A friend once told me some stories, or jokes I suppose about the wise men of Chelm. It was a town of fools in the stories. First, Chelm is real and second, the people were not fools. But, for the purpose of this column, let’s go with the joke part.

One day a hole opened up on the bridge to the city of Chelm, and every day people crossing the bridge fell through the hole and were injured. So the wise men of Chelm, instead of repairing the ruined bridge, decided to build the hospital under it…

The whole column is very good.

So much is inverted and crazy. Terrorists are labeled as peaceful marchers, Priests are using armed guards while threatening to “snuff out” law-abiding citizens and preventing them from being able to defend themselves from Judges who release murders on recognizance and county presidents that say it’s just gun crime, not always a big deal, self-hating Jews doing everything they can to destroy the one Jewish state, and helping the arabs who are trying to burn it to the ground. The solutions being proposed might as well have come from Chelm for all the sense they make.

In spite of all this, יש תקוה There is hope.

For the ignorance and stupidity of the enemy

… let us give thanks.

Warren J. Blumenfeld, Ed.D has a plan.

“Gun violence could be stopped with some simple measures
While no single or a combination of measures will completely eliminate firearms deaths and injuries, I have constructed a list of proposals to buck the current deregulation trend, intended to substantially diminish the plague of violence:

I read that column with amused fascination; his list of proposals shows that his knowledge of the subject is rather limited. Just for example, those with domestic violence convictions, or those subject to restraining orders are already prohibited from buying firearms. And there is no federal “ban on the purchase of firearms and ammunition on the internet” to strengthen. Nor is there a federal waiting period to lengthen. It is already a felony to sell armor-piercing ammunition to civilians. A person with “a history of serious mental illness” is not not necessariy a prohibited person; one who been adjudicated to be mentally deficient already is.

And banning semiautomatic firearms, then banning bump-fire stocks? Perhaps he thinks they can turn bolt-action rifles into machineguns.

To go forward effectively, you need to understand where you are starting from. I would have thought they’d cover that in the Education department, but I studied engineering, so what do I know?

Fortunately for the doctor, The Zelman Partisans have prepared a “Gun Culture Primer” to assist those newly come to the field. It summarizes various federal laws and applicable court decisions, and history. You will also find helpful definitions and explanations of firearms terminology, and other useful bits of knowledge complete with links to more detailed source material. It’s written in language simple enough for even an Ed.D to comprehend.

Additionally, I would like to present Blumenfeld with a little three step thought experiment, which might be useful as a test of a proposal’s effectiveness.

Convicted felons are prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms. Yet 64% of those who commit murder using a firearm have prior felony convictions. Nearly 91% of firearms used in crime are stolen. Multiple federal studies have shown that no more than 7% of criminals obtained their firearms through lawful channels.

The first experiment/test is to ask how a proposal would impact felons who already evade laws like licensing or background checks.

The second experiment/test is to ask how such a law could be effectively imposed on those same criminals in compliance with the Supreme Court’s HAYNES decision.

The third step is to consider your first results, applied to a comparatively small group (11,004 murders in 2016 implies no more than 11,004 murderers) of known, registered felons, and figure out how to apply them to honest gun owners of unknown numbers (estimates range from 55 million to 120+ million) when you don’t who or where they are. Nor do you know how many firearms there are (estimates range from 265 million to 750 million).

If you cannot successfully gain compliance from a small known group, then exacting compliance from an unknown group several thousands of time larger may be problematical.

But so long as the victim disarmers concentrate on dreaming up new redundant laws, they probably won’t ever get around to coming up with real ways and means of enforcing their little 18 U.S. Code § 241 & 242 violations.

ERPOs: Everyone is STASI now

Sane people already know that so-called “extreme risk protective rights violating orders” are… insane.

  • Not a single bill I’ve read actually requires taking into the custody the allegedly “dangerous” person. Just one type of weapon. Just make him angry, and leaves him free to act on it, with something else.
  • None include — by deliberate design — anything approaching due process meeting federal legal standards. The accused is specifically excluded from any chance of defending or explaining himself before his property is stolen. Which, of course, is why he’ll be angry.
  • Few, if any bills, include penalties for someone filing a false report. At least one state specifically legislature voted down an amendment to add penalties for false reporting. A no-cost way to screw with one’s enemies.
  • By design, these bills allow petitions from people with minimal contact with the accused.
  • ERPOs require a standard of “evidence” for depriving someone of rights far below that of even a misdemeanor conviction. The standards are well below that of ordinary civil lawsuits. No evidence; just an unsubstantiated claim good enough for a judge who hates guns.

So how can they possibly get any worse?

What? You never heard of New York, or Gov. Cuomo?

Cuomo: Allow teachers to petition judges to seize guns
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to allow teachers to ask a judge to remove guns from the homes of troubled students.

The Democrat said on Tuesday that he will introduce the idea as legislation. He acknowledged it will face criticism from Republicans.

Under the measure, teachers and school administrators would have legal standing to petition a court to remove any firearms from the homes of students considered a threat to themselves or others.

This would allow teachers to obtain rights-violating orders against not the student, but anyone and everyone in the student’s home. Whom the teacher may have never met. Whom — supposedly — isn’t even the alleged “dangerous” person.

Don’t like guns? Start reporting students and get entire families of innocent people disarmed, without any pesky need for evidence. This being New York, I’ll guarantee they’ll find oath-breaking judges who’ll sign victim disarmament orders. I can see NYS school districts sending out memos to teachers to start collating lists of students/families to target, based on known/suspect gun wnership by a family member. Probably starting with those whose parents demand parent-teacher conferences; the damned uppity troublemakers who dare question the faculty’s authority.

I don’t live in New York (and you would have enjoyed the discussion the time a boss tried to talk me into relocating to New York City), so this wouldn’t affect me.

Yet.

The problem is that, like “standard” extreme rights violating order legislation, the gun people controllers will take any legislation Cuomo comes up with and use it as a model in other states. I can make some good guesses as to which legislators in Atlanta would leap at the chance to sponsor it here.

I have a disturbed niece who has publicly stated that she hates guns, and wants everyone over the age of 55 eliminated. What happens when she realizes she can start filing no-evidence ERPOs to fulfill her genocidal dream?

What happens when anyone having a lawncare dispute with a neighbor can send the confiscation cops out to screw him over?

What happens when ERPO legislation makes everyone a STASI informer?
