I seem to be re-using that quote a lot lately; here we go again. A few days ago, I wrote about a New Mexico bill to ban “assault pistols” (and other things). That bill would ban future transfers, but leave currently possessed items alone. Clearly state Rep. Andrea Romero and her co-conspirators couldn’t settle for that. (There are actually several bills, but I’ll focus on one.)
This would be an outright ban (for civilians) of “large-capacity” magazines and “assault weapons;” no grandfathering whatsoever.
A person shall not possess, manufacture, purchase, sell or transfer any large-capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm. This section shall not apply to magazines originally designed to accept more than ten rounds of ammunition that have been modified to accept no more than ten rounds and that are not capable of being readily restored to a capacity of more than ten rounds.
B. For the purposes of this section, “large-capacity ammunition feeding device” means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition.
A person shall not manufacture, import, possess, purchase, sell or transfer any assault weapon.
So, Ms. Romero: How many doors? How many doors are you willing to kick in solely because the residents are well armed? Have you asked that question of the street level cops who would be enforcing your diktat, or are you going to lead the stacks personally, as an inspiration for them?
Have you even heard of NYSRP v. Bruen?
And I see that while you would ban possession of these… evil weapons of mass destruction designed to kill as many people as possible, as many of your political persuasion describe them, you’re just fine with government agents (your door-kicking cops/enforcers) having them and obtaining more. Why is that?
C. Subsection B of this section shall not apply to:
(1) any government officer, agent or employee, a member of the armed forces of the United States or a peace officer to the extent that such person is otherwise authorized to acquire or possess an assault weapon and does so while acting within the scope of that person’s duties;
Why do your favored cops need the capability to kill as many of us as possible?
Why do you want them to be able to kill us?
These are not rhetorical questions, and I have asked them of Romero directly. She has not responded.

The editorial board of the Dallas Morning News published an opinion piece on why those nasty pistol braces need to be banned. Their… reasoning stops short of informed rationality. For instance:
There’s no difference between the business end of a rifle and a handgun of the same caliber.
Perhaps they’d consider changing that to “cartridge” instead of “caliber.” Otherwise — and ignoring the effect of barrel length on ballistics — they’re saying that a little .22LR revolver is the same as a AR-pattern rifle chambered for 5.56 NATO. They’re both .22 caliber, after all.
But this one…
But shorter barrels make guns less accurate and easier to conceal. They also make them easier to maneuver in crowded places, which may be why shooters in at least two mass murders — at a grocery store in Boulder in 2021, and a busy street in Dayton in 2019 — used handgun braces.
This first part is a gross over-simplification. Assuming either pistol or rifle has enough barrel length for the bullet to spin stabilize, and not so much length as to sap energy through friction, inherent accuracy isn’t that different. If one is using iron sights, the difference in sight radius can make longer barrel eaiser to fire accurately; but that’s an issue with the shooter, not the firearm.
The second part, regarding concealability and maneuverability is hilarious.
Take a pistol, say an AR-pattern pistol with a ten inch barrel. Now add a stabilizing brace to it — making it longer — and now it’s more concealable?
Since the board is concerned with accuracy, you might even think they’s approve of a braced pistol, said brace making it easier for the shooter to fire accurately.
But do you know what is even more concealable, and “maneuverable in crowded spaces,” than a short-barrel rifle or a braced pistol? Basically any conventional unbraced handgun in the world. Could that be why those are used in the vast majority of shootings, mass or otherwise?

I saw this article recently about a feral 13 year old attacking a teacher in Georgia and breaking her leg. This really is unbelievable to someone like me who was raised with “If you get in trouble at school? You’re in way more trouble when you get home!” And they weren’t kidding. My parents weren’t cruel, if something happened they would give a chance to explain your side of what happened, but they were not the parents that showed up to school saying “My little Princess would never….so fire the teacher”. Not them.
Today’s schools are the biggest hot mess of chaos, there are almost no words. This is one of two videos with the feral 13 year old
Public School teacher does her best to keep her composure while being assaulted by a Student… pic.twitter.com/mYpyhezBQG
Who let a child grow up to be like that? The feral animal obviously has no moral compass, no intellectual curiosity for learning and is going to be nothing but a drain on society at this point. It will continue on to a career of smash and grab probably culminating in murder before too long, because what will be done to change the trajectory?
Another very disturbing part of that video, among many disturbing parts, is the rest of the “students” in the class sit there and laugh, or film it, not on of them goes up and tries to help the teacher. I realize, not a kids job, but in the past decency would have required one step in to help someone in authority who is currently getting beaten to a pulp.
Schools are no longer readin’, writin’ and rythmatic. Who’s got time for that when there is CRT and sexual grooming to be done? Not to mention many of the teachers must live in a liberal lack of knowledge bubble considering some of their actions. Take for example the vice- principal, no mere teacher, but the assistant principal at Mount Pleasant High School in Providence, Rhode Island who likes to also volunteer in illegal child trafficking. Her explanation of a coyote is just adorable.
“We have a student who came to America with ‘Coyote,’ which is a group that helps people. This group gives you a time frame to make a payment of $5,000 to those, who bring them to the states. Our student needs our urgent support to raise another $2,000 to reach his goal of $5,000 by February 1, 2023.
Please consider helping if you can by donating on Friday. Melanea will be around to collect money”
Sounds like no one has yet disturbed vice-principal Stefani Harvey’s leftist bubble with explanations of “rape tree” yet.
Now imagine you have kids that go to school there, now imagine the coyote that “helps people” comes to repossess the illegal aliens that didn’t make the payment and your kid goes with them as an “late fee”. Or maybe a little gang war, as obviously there is money to be made by collecting at schools.
I guess that’s one way to learn world geography.
What I believe we’re seeing is another manifestation of the breakdown of society that Barry Sotero was trying to bring about when he talked about a national police force better trained and equipped than the local police. And shortly after that began the attacks on policing, the police acting stupidly, and calls to de-fund the police. I think I did a column pointing out if you run all the decent candidates out of policing, all you’re going to be left with are the jackboots that you are accusing them all of being. And that is what we saw play out in Memphis. The black police chief Cerelyn “CJ” Davis,
According to the report, two detectives claimed Davis instructed them to not investigate the suspected predator, Terrill Marion “TC” Crane, after police discovered sexually explicit images of him with minor girls.
According to the report, two of the officers, Tadarrius Bean and Demetrius Haley, both joined in August 2020, which was over two years after the department loosened education qualifications to become an officer. Among such loosened requirements included no longer needing an associate’s degree or 54 college credit hours to join the force. Officers could also get hired with five years of work experience.
Predictably, experts believe that this led to “less desirable” candidates. “They’re desperate. They want police officers,” Mike Alcazar, an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a retired NYPD detective, told The Post. “They’re going through it, they check off some boxes, saying, ‘Ok, they’re good enough, get them on.'”
When you don’t back good officers, and they have to deal with things like the rabid animal that’s thirteen at the start of the story, you’ve got to figure that law-enforcement at a time when good officers are desperately needed are going to be in shorter supply than a good eHarmony match.
So many positions, not just law-enforcement, are now based on skin color, gender, and gender perceived (by them), and a host of things other than job qualifications and experience that we now understand why there are things like baby formula shortages, unexplained food supply chain attacks with apparently no interest from the federal government and a pharmaceutical industry that now controls the Mainstream media (propaganda wing of the demoncrat party). Because performance, quality and result don’t matter, only equity does.
In addition to dealing with feral unwanted 13 year olds, and antifa the spawn of rich white demoncrat parents, the police also have to deal with Joe Biden’s (I’m sorry, I didn’t have a chance to see what stock in Biden is going for today before I started this column, but keep an eye on his stock value, it may be changing) millions of illegal aliens.
Yes, the illegal aliens that broke into the country who demoncrats assure us just want a job and to work and pay their own way are refusing to the leave one of the taxpayer funded hotels. Some hotels they’ve already ruined, they throw out the free taxpayer supplied food, have sex in the halls, assault women, etc etc. They get free transport cards, free obamaphones and somehow they all seem to have really nice clothes and shoes. Really nice. I guess the NGOs are taking really good care of them, and we’re of course paying for it. And when the peaceful criminal illegal aliens who aren’t working don’t want to move? The poor over-worked and understaffed cops get sent.
Law enforcement is far from the only branch of the law that suffers from low standards due to poor quality in education. Remember the part about “wise judges?” Well, Joe BidenTM hasn’t met a stupid judge he doesn’t love and want to nominate to a position where they can further destroy some part of America. This nominee for “Judge” can’t say what Article V and Article II of the Constitution are. Yep, this is who Joe BidenTM nominated this time. It’s like a game to them. G-d bless Senator John Kennedy, he didn’t laugh or cry, which I see as pretty commendable at this point. The comments under the video are a bit of a bright spot though.
This is actually not so much a pro-law-enforcement column as it is column on the state of the legal system really. So let’s take a look at what happens when you have crappy cogs in the wheel. Do you remember this from August 2021, a 15 year old in Venice Kalifornia stole a car, was driving down an ally the wrong way and intentionally ran over a young mother out walking her baby in a stroller, and then drove off. Mercifully he was caught but only because an absolute knight in a pickup truck saw the whole thing, realized what was happening an in a sweet spot of timing, put the stolen car into a light pole an then pinned it, so they caught the criminal.
And so, George Gascon, a Soros bought DA rather than sending him to prison, even kiddy prison, sent him to juvenile camp, for 3-5 months. No word if George kissed him on his widdle head or packed his socks for him before he sent him off to camp for his “soft on crime” sentence.
But you know, sometimes, some things are just so outrageous that forces beyond the norm intervene. I realize I should probably try to sound sad about this, but we’d all know I was being dishonest. The kid tried to kill that woman and that innocent little baby.
Rachel had hoped for a harsher initial sentence for Baca, who had no driver’s license and was already on probation for felony poisoning after he allegedly spiked a high school girl’s drink. She had expected that any hearing for the teenager would come near the end of his probation in early November.
Had Gascon done his job, sent the kid to prison, he’d probably be alive. But, he didn’t, and he’s not.
Baca had been seen at a fast food restaurant attempting to “get with a girl,” then walked toward home. As he walked home alone, a car stopped by him and an argument ensued before someone in the vehicle fired at Baca before fleeing.
Apparently another one it’s parents didn’t want, as nothing changed since summer camp.
Oh, why am I using “it” on some of these? Because I know we can’t assume gender.
But we can’t rely on divine justice to make everything right. I mean G-d did give us a pattern to live good, productive lives in harmony with him and each other and we just keep ignoring those patterns and demoncrats keep trying to keep kids from even learning about them.
A friend of mine in Nicaragua sent me a delightful little article this evening. A tip of the Stetson to Steve for these next couple…
It’s reminding me of that part in the movie The Mummy II where the special warriors that were to keep the Mummy from coming back to life now have to fight the army of the un-dead and they are completely outnumbered. Side note, did you know Oded Fehr that played Ardeth Bay in the movie is Israeli? Yup.
Anyway, the illegals just keep coming and coming and bleeding U.S. dry.
The welcome wagon for New York City migrants is reported to include free food, free cell phones, free transportation as well as free healthcare.
According to an article in the New York Post, thousands of migrants who illegally crossed the US and are seeking asylum have been given freebies.
Free lodging includes $300 to $500 a night rooms in New York City hotels located in the heart of Manhattan. Some of the rooms come with private bathrooms and showers.
There’s more than that listed in the article. Also what I’ve been unable to find listed anywhere is where veterans go to avail themselves of these services they’ve actually earned.
So, what to do?
Professor Yitzhak has mentioned to me some of the best students he had for History were the English as Second language type, they really wanted to learn. Ok. So one possible solution is for U.S. to begin right now, to keep contained somewhere every antifa caught looting a store, attacking people at a political rally or public meeting they’re disrupting. Every feral animal that is keeping an actual class from learning also goes into the holding area. Every illegal immigrant caught committing a crime, into the holding area. Every illegal immigrant when they apply for free public benefits, into the holding area. Every week, we look at which countries have sent U.S. the largest number of illegals we have to educate, we have to feed, house and provide healthcare for and that country wins the lotto for that period. We’re flying low and dropping that weeks worth batch into their country. No, they didn’t ask us before their citizens came, we returning the party favors. Seems fair.
If you think this presents some legal challenges, I would just refer to to Judge Brown-Jackson for a ruling. I hear she is almost done with her See Dick and Jane book on biology.
But let me take you back to the 90s. Does the name Michael Fay ring a bell? Does the term “caning”? I was listening to an episode of Human Events and Jack Posobiec was talking about the case from the 90s. He said the guy now owns a successful food service company so he went on to make something of himself.
The story in a nutshell:
Fay was living with his Mom and Step-father in Singapore when he stole some street signs and either did or didn’t vandalize eighteen cars. Eighteen. And he got caught, Singapore has laws against vandalism and theft. Fay knew that, he just didn’t think they applied to him apparently. He was sentenced to some jail time and 6 cane swats. The media in America became outraged that a country was going to actually execute the prescribed sentence that their law calls for. Bill Clinton got involved, Singapore who must have been being polite to the draft-dodging serial sex-crime president as they dropped the caning sentence by two. After Fay came back he didn’t exactly straighten up and fly right, so they probably should have given him the whole six, who knows? But eventually he did get his act together. Now not everyone in the media was on the kids side, back then there were even people in Chicago that thought citizens had a right to own property safe from thugs. MICHAEL FAY GOT WHAT HE DESERVED
And maybe that is the answer. Raising the cane. But we can’t continue like this. These feral animals are not safe for law-abiding citizens to have to deal with. If they will assault armed police officers like antifa, if they have no fear of teachers, then they have no fear of Aunt Chaya walking home with groceries for Shabbat. Joe BidenTM is going to keep importing them as fast as the crime regime can, so I’m guessing the states need to be coming up with some pretty strong state sovereignty legislation and ways of deporting them, or dealing with them, because ordinary American citizens are going to be facing enough trouble as it is.
You know, come to think of it…to sweeten the deal when we get ready to drop the first batch into the first country, we should thrown in Tony Fauxci, the entire NIH, CDC, FDA, ATF, FIB, CNN and MSNBC, heads of all the Pharmaceutical companies and the entire board of directors, Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta censors, Google and their censors and old Twitter and their censors. Yep, the first country? Ukraine, I’ve heard they’ve got a help wanted sign out for their tank unit. We throw them in for free. Literally.
Ok, so I can see where this might work. The other option is we deploy the entire ATF, FIB and all of DOJ to the border to back up customs and border patrol. All the FIB, ATF and DOJ already have guns, we know they have lots of guns. CNN shows us every time they go after some poor law abiding family that was just praying in public, at a school board meeting or some such Merrick Garland didn’t like because it threatens his son in law’s income. So the agents are lined up and told “No migrant gets past YOU” Simple rule, not one migrant gets in. The first migrant that gets past you? You’re in the next airdrop to the Ukraine. I mean our federal debt will never recover from what Joe BidenTM and the demoncrats have spent the last few years, we’ve got to cut expenses somewhere. Maybe some of these creative ideas can help trim the budget, lower crime and help undo some of the illegal alien invasion were enduring. Next week maybe I’ll cover coupon clipping!
But I’m pretty sure the answer involves raising cane, one way or another.
State Rep. Sandra Scott, Dim-Rex, previously told The Center Square she plans to file several pieces of legislation, including a measure to prevent Glock owners from turning the guns into automatic weapons.
As of this writing, I do not see a Scott bill to ban the manufacture of automatic weapons. I have emailed Scott to see if she can provide advance text, or at least a bill number when filed.
Because — as the clued-in probably guessed — it sounds a bit redundant. After all, the National Firearms Act of 1934, as mended by the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986, already makes the manufacture of machine guns, by anyone other than an FFL who has paid the SOT, unlawful. And those machine guns aren’t generally transferable to us common, little people.
Georgia law, specifically § 16-11-122, makes possession of machine guns illegal. There are lawful exceptions in § 16-11-124; most notably if the firearm is properly registered under the aforementioned NFA.
True, Georgia law doesn’t seem to specifically ban the manufacture, but once to add the conversion device to the handgun, you’re in possession (see above paragraph).
For that matter, a conversion device is itself a “machinegun” as defined in 26 U.S. Code § 5845.
The term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun
Possession of the device is possession of a machinegun under federal and state law. Just ask the folks the ATF has charged with felony possession of unregistered machinguns for giggle switches, lightning links, flat pieces of metal, and wall-hooks.
I strongly suspect that urban gangbangers putting giggle switches on their Glocks are not FFL/SOTs, nor did they register their giggle switches by the 1986 deadline for lawful possession (I don’t know how many Glocks were even in US non-government hands in ’86).

The probable cause statement for Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter charges is available.
For those with an unfortunate interest in law, it’s very interesting. For those convinced that Baldwin shouldn’t have been charged because he’s just a stupid actor, and you can’t expect actors to show any sense, and the Four Rules aren’t law…
…it will be infuriating.
In Baldwin’s case: They have video and photos of him fingering the trigger. He skipped safety training. When the armorer roped him into training, he spent the whole time on the phone.
A forensic report that says the handgun was functioning correctly. The trigger had to be pulled.
Baldwin changing his story.
The document describes film industry standards and protocols, and describes how Baldwin — as the primary producer — actively and willfully blew them off.
Aesop might as well claim that Baldwin shouldn’t be charged because § 30-2-3 doesn’t specifically say not to point a load gun at people and pull the trigger when you don’t even know if it’s loaded. Those words aren’t there either.
“Without due caution and circumspection” are, and the Rules illustrate what due caution and circumspection look like.
The probable cause statement — using different phrasing — says precisely that. Because…
One more time; if I were the prosecutor, I’d present clips from interviews, and social media post of Baldwin telling everyone else how to do it right, and ask him, “Mr. Baldwin, for years you’ve claimed you know better on firearm safety than everyone else. Why are you now claiming to be dumber than a six year-old in need of constant adult supervision?”
And that’s exactly what the prosecution has done in the probable cause statement: You know this stuff. Why didn’t you do it?
Negligence is when you know better, but do it anyway. This document establishes that Baldwin did it, should have known better, and has repeatedly claimed to know better.
On the armorer front, Gutierrez-Reed will need to do some serious explaining. Per the statement, law enforcement found — this is addition to the expended round used to kill Hutchins — six live rounds on set. Including a live round on Baldwin’s holster.
And forensics indicates those live rounds did not come from the movie’s supplier as she had once tried to imply.
So, little miss armorer, why were live rounds on set at all, and where did they come from? Why did you never notice live rounds mixed in with your equipment?
I recall early claims that she had been letting people use prop guns for recreational plinking. I think those claims just became a lot more credible.
