Half-Witt or Full Liar?

Oregon Rep. Brad Witt has a little accuracy problem.

Rep. Witt advocates for new gun legislation in Oregon
The state representative for District 31 confirmed Wednesday that he’s considering a package of bills that would, among other things, raise the age for purchasing semiautomatic weapons.

What about raising the age for other constitutionally guaranteed rights?

He’d also like to see bump stocks outlawed. Bump stocks — devices that can be attached to a semiautomatic weapons to increase their firing speed

That again. Ignorance, or deception?

“Bump stocks elevate the level of fire on a firearm to something very close and akin to an automatic weapon that was outlawed many decades ago during prohibition,” Witt said.

I emailed Witt to point out that he doesn’t understand bump-fire stocks, and to tell him automatic weapons are not “outlawed” federally or in Oregon. His reply:

Hey Carl…..absent a federal stamp, it’s illegal to carry a full auto in Oregon. You might want to check into the federal law.

Brad

He knows about tax stamps? Oh ho. So he knows about the NFA. That means he knows darned well that automatic weapons are regulated, not outlawed.

I haven’t determined if he’s a half-wit, but he just proved himself a liar.

March of the Mad Munchkins

The Mad Munchkins

Demonstrating brainwashing works if captured early enough, Trotskyite Munchkin victims of educational malpractice, surrounded by a sea of bitter angry middle-aged women, descended on the nation’s capital like flying malefactors from the Land Oz. Their demand? A federal Congress pound a “national” stake through the heart of an already liberal trampled Bill of Rights. Munchkin March observers reported crowds so tightly packed movement was all but impossible and Porta-Potties an unreachable oasis. Perhaps it wasn’t numbers causing kids to huddle so closely together but rather, fear. Among the March’s backers was Planned [un]Parenthood, you know, those reconstructed Josef Mengele organ harvesters, brain blenders in one hand, suction hoses in the other, ensuring as many unwanted kids as possible not survive the womb. Some of the marchers were young, very young. Considering on average abortionists take more lives weekly (21,069.484)1 than all school shootings combined, will marchers be protesting outside the doors of Planned [un]Parenthood?

An ecstatic liberal media heralded the March of the Mad Munchkins as a student-led protest, organized by Marjory Stoneman-Douglas High School survivors [I thought more than 10 survived]. In “cooperation,” of course, with Everytown For Gun Safety, a radical anti-2nd Amendment Michael Bloomberg front group.2 Was the March really a student-led grassroots movement?

March organizers, and liberal media cheerleaders, claimed attendance swelled to 850,000 including many high school teenagers. But Alex Pappas, writing for FOX News, reported only 10 percent of the marchers were teens, 90 percent were adults, the average age was just under 49, and the real attendance number was only 202,796,3 about the same number of people camping out at Walmart waiting to claw and tear out each other’s hair and eyes come Black Friday. Notions of unemployed high school kids organizing this gala event are preposterous. Instead, Hollywood actors and directors, pro-athletes, a motley crew of extremist leftwing organizations, and the Democrat Party elite organized and bankrolled the March. Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, using tax-payer dollars from a city sliding into decrepitude,4 bussed students, truant Monday through Friday, to D.C., that Saturday. The Marjory Stoneman-Douglas Duped Ten were merely props in a staged drama.5 Just like my lefty colleagues in public education, some will chortle you can’t trust statistics and reporting from FOX News. Well, let’s see what the Washington Post, daily talking points for liberals, had to say.

University of Maryland Professor of Sociology, Dana R. Fisher, writing for the Washington Post, conducted thorough research as to who, why, and how many attended the March. Relying on camera and satellite imagery, reports from police and other official authorities, and interviews with Marchers, she concluded most (70%) were women, educated, and slightly under 49 years old. Gun control was the driving issue for only 12% of Marchers. Peace causes drew 56%, hatred of trump brought out 42%, and 79% self-identified as “left-leaning” [Marxists]. As can be expected, 89% voted for Hillary Clinton.6 In order to transport, house, and provide nourishing earth-friendly food for the Mad Munchkins and Leftist rabble going to Washington, logistical and financial support was required. They had plenty.

For transportation, the New England [un]Patriots and owner Robert Kraft provided team Boeing 767s. Kraft even wrote a letter of support for the Duped Ten vindicating my rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Apparently abandoning any connection with the NRA wasn’t enough for Delta Airlines. Flaunting their recent self-castration, Delta also provided free flights to the nation’s capital and back for the Stoneman Ten and their handlers.7 In order to induce people to congregate in close proximity with so many raging feminists, a carrot was needed. It came in the form of celebrity appearances. Model Chrissy Teigen and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon8 were joined by comedians Amy Shumer and Jason Sudeikis as well as singers Paul Simon, Willow Smith, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Vic Mensa, Disney’s Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), Demi Lavato, Paul McCartney formerly of the Beatles (a group I liked before their Hash-and-Hindu days), and a slew of actors, including Reese Witherspoon,9 all calling for an end to your 2nd Amendment rights. But it had to be paid for.

Stepping into the financial breach with cash swollen wallets bigger than most people’s homes were the glitterati. Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, and Jeffrey Katzenberg each ponied up $500,000 dollars with Taylor Swift donating an undisclosed amount toward abolishing the Bill of Rights.10 They were joined by Eli Broad, wealthy businessman who donated $1 million dollars to Bloomberg’s front group, Everytown For Gun Safety. Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff donated $1 million dollars, Italian fashion house Gucci coughed up $500,000, the Miami Dolphins tossed in $100,000, and Joshua Kushner, brother of presidential adviser and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, gave $50,000 dollars. AT&T, Office Depot, Ultimate Software, and Starbucks donated to a student victim’s fund.11 Not to be left out, support poured in from jocks including basketball stars, past and present, LeBron James, Bill Russell, Dwayne Wade (who donated $200,000 dollars), Chris Paul, Caron Butler, Dennis Rodman, and Carmello Anthony who helped bus the Baltimore kids to Washington. Moral support came from Golden State Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr, L.A. Lakers president Jeanie Buss, baseball player Anthony Rizzo, soccer player Kyle Martino, and football player DeMarcus Ware.12 Actors, singers, and athletes typically have large followings on social media. It seems Americans determine the veracity of what stars say based on how much they like them. If not for huge amounts of money stars derive from those patronizing their careers, they’d have no platform. Stop patronizing them. Boycott.

Students did not plan, organize, or coordinate the March of the Mad Munchkins. Instead it was done by March for Our Lives (sic) an umbrella organization created by Everytown For Gun Safety, itself a Bloomberg front group with assistance from the Joyce Foundation. Everytown collected and disbursed cash and arranged for statements and appearances by stars. Everytown’s webpage answers the question the liberal media failed to ask; what specifically would you do to end “gun-violence?” Their answer; Congress should end the federal government’s ban on gun-violence research at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta.13 Like mosquitos that won’t go away, Liberals incessantly claim the CDC is banned from studying “gun-violence” (sic) which is a lie. In 1996, following publication of a CDC funded controversial study on so-called gun-violence, in reality political advocacy masquerading as science paid for with tax payer’s dollars, Arkansas Republican Jay Dickey attached an amendment to a CDC funding bill prohibiting studies done to “promote or advocate gun control.” It was signed into law by Democrat President Bill Clinton. The CDC could continue to study “gun-violence” but research couldn’t be tailored to achieve a political outcome. Like other “federal” agencies, CDC research is at times farmed out to universities which, in turn, are dominated by Leftist professors whose careers depend upon receiving federal grants. Grants are dependent on “finding” what benefactors are paying for. In 1996, CDC researchers wanted to declare “gun-violence” a “public health crisis” a designation which, to some degree, empowers the CDC to impose rules, regulations, and direct action to deal with a health crisis.14 Treating biological causes of epidemics and disease outbreaks means neutralizing the bacterial, viral, and other causes. In this case, the viral agent was firearms.15 Bill of Rights Tramplers also demand ending “absurd” restrictions on the BATF to “digitize records for all guns sales.” This would constitute gun-owner registration which is illegal under federal law. Rights are not registered with governments. Registration transforms rights to privileges dispensed by government. In addition, the Tramplers demand universal background checks meaning the .22 rifle parents give to sons or daughters as Christmas gifts would be illegal. It would have to go through government becoming part of an already existing (form 4473) registration list. Gun and gun owner registration has always been THE prerequisite to government confiscation. Ten-round magazine capacity limits are also part of their shopping list. Apparently it’s okay to shoot 10 but not 11 people. The Tramplers damn semiautomatic rifles as “weapons of war” and “assault weapons” (sic) declaring they have no place in any community and must be banned. At first, gun buy backs would be used to convince people to voluntarily hand them over. How can government buy back what it never owned? To maintain legal possession, gun-owners would have to register semiautomatic rifles with the government and transfers to anyone other than authorities prohibited.16 Why would they be allowed to keep “weapons of war” having no place in any community? They wouldn’t. Once registration was deemed complete, they would be banned. Turn them in or go to prison. During the colonial era, Great Britain never possessed the largest of armies but they were sufficient to execute what amounted to door to door searches for weapons in their colonies including Scotland, Ireland, North America, and later Asia and India. It’s necessary to point this out because anti-2nd Amendment organizations and activists deny they want registration and confiscation. History is the first to call them liars. I’m following suit.

Stoneman Ten students Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, are too egocentric and full of youthful ignorance and hubris to disguise what they really want. Interviewed by Alisyn Camerota, a conservative before moving from FOX to CNN, she began with a question judges would throw out in a trial as “leading” to wit; could anything be done about gun-violence when needy politicians have no choice but to take campaign donations from the NRA? For some reason Camerota failed to put her question in perspective by noting the NRA has donated $3,533,294 dollars to current members of Congress since 1998, equivalent to Democrat comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s salary for three months.17 Labor Unions, including the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association, two of the most virulently Leftwing unions in existence, donated $1.7 billion dollars in 2016 alone, and almost all went to liberal Democrat candidates who want to ban and confiscate firearms and abolish the 2nd Amendment.18 Neither did Camerota note the NRA’s source of funds for campaign donations comes in small dollar amounts from members while unions typically confiscate their huge haul from the paychecks of workers voluntarily or not. It’s no surprise liberals lie, statists have done this throughout history. It’s alarming how easily they get away with it.

Seething with anger, Gonzalez replied to Camerota declaring: “The NRA should be disbanded and dismantled. Don’t you make a new organization under a different name. Don’t you dare come back here. We need to fix our country. Gun control is just the first thing. We keep telling them [politicians] that if you accept this blood money [from the NRA], you’re against the children. They are against the people who are dying. You are funding the killers [NRA] or you’re standing with the children.” Wow, if you belong to the NRA, and by extension, any similar civil rights organization like the WMSA, you’re a killer. You’re the ones shooting and killing kids! Gonzalez’s thinking is not merely an immature and grossly ignorant misunderstanding of history and the Constitution (she’s an Advanced Placement student, too), it is deranged, totally divorced from reality. Her partner in historical illiteracy, a constantly glowering angry pinch-faced almost trembling with rage David Hogg, made even more bizarre and irrational claims saying politicians took money from the NRA to “make it easier for these horrifying people to get guns. If you can’t get elected without taking money from these child murderers [the NRA], why are you running?”19 What are they teaching kids in public schools today? Emma Gonzalez, sporting a Cuban flag on her clothing, a communist dictatorship that tramples the rights of Cubans, starves kids, and murders people young and old, and David Hogg, who calls for revolution, damns the NRA as baby killers? The Left, which has schooled these sock-puppets, and once called American boys serving in Vietnam “baby killers,” now hangs this appellation around the necks of NRA members? Mental health officials, take note.

Piling on the NRA, Huggies Pull-Ups wetting Washington Post “journalist” (sic) Adam Weinstein complains the NRA are big mean bullies because they insist those writing about “gun-control” issues know something about the subject including use of proper terminology. Whimpering Weinstein condemns this as “Gun-splaining” adapting the term “man-splaining” invented by radical feminist college professors outraged by any hint of DNA dictated masculinity. Broadcasting from behind enemy lines (Washington, D.C.), radio talk show host Chris Plante wondered if, while other little boys were off playing the games little boys play, Weinstein was in his backyard playing with his Easy Bake Oven.20

Instead of indoctrinating American kids into a Leftist social, political, and economic worldview, instead of confusing them about the purpose of biological genitalia, instead of demonizing masculinity and traits like self-reliance and rugged individualism, principals should ensure kids are being taught every sentence doesn’t begin with “so” and the Constitution and history of our founders. Teaching for decades in a public high school socialIST studies department, I know it ain’t happening.

One cannot lend support or donate to a movement without also embracing its cause and the cause of gun control organizations is banning private possession of semiautomatic rifles. Handguns come next. Once ownership is no longer a right, its turn them in or go to prison. CVS, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Krogers’ are among those aiding and abetting the demonization of gun-owners. The following is a letter I sent to CVS Pharmacies:

Dear Mr. Merlo, CEO, CVS Pharmacies

I’ve been a CVS customer 20+ years. Near the end of December, 2017, I noticed the usual wide variety of firearm related magazines had disappeared from your stores. I thought perhaps magazines were discarded at year’s end. Several weeks later a pharmacy employee told me CVS’s corporate office had decided to remove all such magazines. I confirmed this with Kristen, CVS Customer Relations, at your corporate office.

I am both a retired police officer and public high school teacher with an extensive background in firearms. As a member of the 2nd Amendment and sports shooting communities, I was chagrined by your decision. By removing these magazines, you deem something is wrong with them, that they are socially unacceptable. If true based on content, logic dictates the same be true of those who read them. In deciding to slander and discriminate against millions of law-abiding Americans and CVS customers, you have moved from the commercial to the political realm. In so doing, you have de facto allied yourselves with those whose political agenda is abolition of the 2nd Amendment and the individual right to keep and bear arms. If you were in my shoes, would you remain a customer?

To offer as a defense, striving for social responsibility, begs several questions; are you going to remove the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue featuring scantily clad girls? Women displayed in sexually provocative poses perpetuate notions that our wives, daughters, and sisters are sex objects playing a role in sexual harassment and rape. Considering negligent drivers murder 37,000-40,000 people each year and injure, main, and cripple 2-million more, will you remove car, truck, and ATV magazines? Since beer, wine, and liquor appear to be staples at your pharmacies, (is a statistical recitation of the misery and death caused by their misuse necessary?), will you remove alcoholic beverages from your shelves?”

In addition, I announced unless CVS changed their policy, I was initiating a boycott and transferring my accounts to Walgreens, which I did. Executive Support Coordinator Waldemar Kepa responded thanking me for my letter writing he would share my concerns with the merchandising team responsible for magazine selection. He didn’t answer any of my questions or address the boycott. Unless you fight back, gun owners will become as demonized as political conservatives and Christians holding to traditional morality; deemed socially unacceptable, marginalized, pariahs, and driven from the public square.21 “Ho ho, liberal indoctrination has got to go.”

David Codrea addresses the recent minor furor over the lack of prosecutions for NICS denials.

Gun Groups and Grabbers Find Common Ground on NICS Denial Prosecutions
That mass roundups of the scofflaws haven’t begun has got gun-grabbers – and some gun groups – in a lather. Lost in much of the noise is economist and author John Lott’s contention that a “high percentage” of “false positives” wrongly deny purchases. Not that due process is a concern when there are guns to be “taken off the street”…

I was a bit concerned where Codrea was going with this initially, since I’m not one of those in a lather over lackadaisical enforcement. My take differs that; and it certainly doesn’t share common ground with human/civil rights violating victim-disarmers.

Let me spell it out for those who have not yet caught on:

We now have 20 years of data that clearly establishes that preemptively-prove-your-innocence (PPYI) prior restraint on Second Amendment-guaranteed (not “protected,” sadly) human/civil rights is a complete failure as “gun safety.”

1. Roughly 96% of the denials proved to be false positives. As David notes, there were a mere 12 referrals for prosecution in 2017. The last time I checked the total number since it began, it was…

140. In two decades. Out of tens of millions of NICS transactions.

When the Bradys et al proudly point at three million denials, they are gleefully bragging on violating constitutionally guaranteed (not “protected,” damnit) rights of 2,880,000 innocent people.

Almost three million people that they have successfully — at least for a time — rendered into helpless targets for criminal predators. And they’re happy about it. If you hadn’t before, think about that now.

That’s false positives, which brings us to…

2. False Negatives. Almost every week, I come across a news story about a felon (or other prohibited person) who got a gun by passing the NICS check. No one seems to track false negatives, so I don’t know how common it is. And I’m not speaking of cases like the DC Navy Yard or Sutherland Springs shooters, whom the “authorities” never entered into the NICS databases. I’m speaking of those who are in the databases, who pass by misspelling a name, changing their name, or just giving the wrong birth date.

And those are just the few felons who bother gaming NICS. Roughly 94% of firearms used in crimes were obtained through unlawful channels, completely bypassing NICS.

NICS doesn’t have a bloody thing to do with most criminals; those who do submit to checks can easily spoof it.

The only thing NICS is good for is delaying rights, and completely denying them, for honest folks.

And that is precisely the point.

I have heard well-meaning people call for 18 U.S. Code § 242 – Deprivation of rights under color of law charges for those responsible for the violation of rights through improper denials, or for deaths when a sale is improperly allowed. In fact, survivors of Sutherland Springs (where the Air Force failed to report a felony-equivalent conviction, a domestic violence conviction, and an involuntary committal) trying to sue over it.

I wish them luck, but I’m astonished that the judge hasn’t dismissed the case already. There’s something in 18 U.S. Code § 922 that many people don’t seems to know about.

18 U.S. Code § 922(t):

(6) Neither a local government nor an employee of the Federal Government or of any State or local government, responsible for providing information to the national instant criminal background check system shall be liable in an action at law for damages—
(A) for failure to prevent the sale or transfer of a firearm to a person whose receipt or possession of the firearm is unlawful under this section; or
(B) for preventing such a sale or transfer to a person who may lawfully receive or possess a firearm.

Bureaucratese Translator: We can directly violate your rights — even get you killed — and you cannot hold us responsible for our failures, sucker!

That was built into the Brady Bill. Its original intent was to rape human/civil rights with total impunity.

And the Bradys brag.

As I said, I was briefly concerned about Codrea’s direction, which seemed odd for someone with whom I’ve been somewhat acquainted for years. My confidence in his respect for rights was rewarded.

Enforce existing “Intolerable Acts?”

The people who have been complaining consistently are the NRA’s “leaders.” They’ve made “enforce existing gun laws” a mantra many gun owners repeat unthinkingly, as if ceding to the status quo of infringements will dissuade the totalitarian lobby from enacting any new citizen disarmament edicts.

Substitute “Intolerable Acts” for “gun laws” and see how much amplification that gets from members and supporters. Instead, we got “bipartisan” kabuki.

Intolerable Acts, indeed. Any supposed “pro-gun” group or person in a “lather” over the lack of enforcement of a law meant to violate rights, is supporting exactly the same disarmament which sparked the American Revolution.

Is it any wonder the field of pro-PPYI NRA’s logo is red?

I Support Liberal Gun Control

I think I need to reconsider my stance on gun control. I had an interesting conversation with Professor Yitzhak Goldstein this evening. We were lamenting the decreasing number of young people that seem to be involved in Second Amendment rights groups. We then began to discuss possible reasons, which got me to thinking about things I’ve read recently. I think I see a pattern here.

Let’s just briefly touch on a not that long ago incident. A liberal college professor was so unfamiliar with his students and so distrusted them, that when the Kansas legislature began to allow students to have the means to defend themselves as hundreds of other college campuses have, he was so scared he wet his depends and then wrote out his letter of resignation, or it could have been the other way round, who knows. He was soon followed by a female college professor with the same lack of knowledge of her students. So, if you didn’t remember this, there is a backstory.

Around 11th September a group of students at the fine institution of Goldsmith’s University in London decided to showcase their fantastic knowledge of history by replying to a teacher they disagreed with that they would send her to the “gulag”. The teacher I think, understandably took offense. The students then “enlightened” the poor misguided uninformed teacher about gulags.

Gulags, really? Who knew!

The reality?

Historians, however, have concluded that Stalin’s gulags were used to jail everyone from petty criminals to political opponents, including gay men and women.

The report said, “Soviet files show that 1,053,829 people died in the camps between 1934 and 1953, mostly as a result of deliberate starvation.”

The Christian Institute estimated that about 20 million people were incarcerated in the gulags, with “prisoners working up to 14 hours a day in extreme weather. Countless numbers died.”

Hmm, I’m continuing to wonder about the state of higher education. It seems that higher education has become the stronghold of the liberal left. Which makes one part of this article seem strange to me. I agree with most of it though. Who is pushing Jews out of academia in the US?

Dr. Sharona Aharoni-Goldenberg, an expert on the struggle against BDS, says that the Trump administration’s decision, according to which anti-Israel activity on college campuses will be defined as anti-Semitism, is a turning point in the fight against anti-Semitic activity on campuses.

“This is a very important decision. The BDS movement today, which really appears to be activated by an invisible hand – and the feeling is that it is funded by totalitarian elements – works to remove Jews from academia. There is real activity against Israeli lecturers, regardless of their position or opinion, but rather because they are Israelis,” Aharoni-Goldenberg said in an interview with Israel Hayom.

“The activity is not just against Israeli lecturers. If you are a Jewish professor who uploads a post for Israel, you will be fired,” she says. “It’s not a parable, US lecturers who worked against ‘Apartheid Week’ were fired from the institutions at which they taught. The same applies to many Jewish students who simply feel uncomfortable on campus.”

All spot on Dr. Sharona, except this part.

“This anti-Semitism is against Israelis and against Jews, regardless of their position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The boycott is also against people on the left,” she said. “The BDS position is that we have to bring 5 million Palestinians back into the Green Line and destroy Israel.”

No, no Dr. Sharona, the problem is coming from the left. Think about Jeremy Corbyn, the one in the UK that should he become Prime Minister about 40% of Britain’s Jews are planning to flee. You have to recognize your enemy or you will get blindsided every time.

The tolerant left, which tells us to celebrate diversity (as long as it is approved by them). Student allegedly rips MAGA hat off classmate’s head, slaps teacher

Little Miss Chumette Bucket decided that stealing private property from another student, assaulting them and then assaulting a teacher is an acceptable “political statement”.

In cellphone video, a teacher is seen trying to subdue fired-up 17-year-old senior Chumette Bucket after she became enraged at a classmate for wearing the MAGA hat.

She grabbed the hat off his head.

“That’s a racist and hateful symbol,” Bucket said.

……

“Maybe just wake people up in some type of way, because it’s not cool, the environment our classroom is in,” Bucket said.

EXCUSE ME????? The environment the classroom is in?? Who assaulted another student and a teacher because of a innocent hat?? Correct, the profanity spewing tolerant leftist which feels violence towards someone she disagrees with is acceptable.

Then there’s the interview with her Dad.

Doesn’t think she maybe should have handled it that way, but maybe it was a conversation that needed to happen.

YOU. IDIOT.

What conversation took place? What do you think was accomplished? You Mr. Bucket, are a part of this girls problem. And she does have problem, she assaulted a fellow student and a teacher and is standing there grinning like a possum and proud as can be of herself. Either she has no clue how to fit into polite society or she is on some sort of medication, and looking at her eyes, that might be it. Or maybe she is just not right in the head. As her parent? I’d give you an F-

So, I’m saying that educational institutions have a strong leftist bent, very strong, very bent. So bent we have a sociology professor in Las Vegas that carried a concealed pistol that the did not have a permit to carry, concealed into a gun free building on his campus and, shot himself in the arm. But hey, he’s thoughtful. Why?

Inside the bathroom, campus police found a $100 bill taped to a mirror along with a note that said, “For the janitor,” according to Bird’s arrest report. On the floor of the restroom was a black-and-white, .22-caliber pistol and one spent shell casing.

Why? Because he wanted to protest President Trump.

Nope, not making it up. So, I’m going to advise Professor Yitzhak that I think we need to revise our opinion of liberal gun control. I think liberals absolutely need to be thoroughly vetted before they are even allowed in the same room with a gun. And that is why liberals want gun control, they think we are like them, they think we think like they do. They have their isolated ivory tower and are turning out indoctrinated little Chumette Buckets. They teach them how evil the Zionist state is. The one Jewish state in the world, by the way, but don’t dare call them antisemitic. How bad guns are, people can’t be trusted with them, except of course for their paid bodyguards.

But here’s the deal. Ivory towers and schools most often these days, are not reality. Conservatives know this. We know life can be unpredictable, we choose responsibility, we choose preparedness. We know theory quite often, isn’t reality.

Thank you, Senator Feinstein

For making the pro-human/civil rights case for us, just this once. However inadvertently.

WATCH: Feinstein Tries To Nail Kavanaugh On Guns, Completely Fails
Feinstein continued by claiming that “assault weapons are not in common use.”

Kavanaugh responded by noting that “semiautomatic handguns and semiautomatic rifles are widely possessed in the United States” and that “there are millions and millions and millions of semiautomatic rifles that are possessed.”

“You’re saying the numbers determine common use?” Feinstein replied. “Common use is an activity. It’s not common storage or possession, it’s use. So what you said is that these weapons are commonly used. They’re not.”

“They’re widely possessed in the United States, senator,” Kavanaugh replied. “And they are, they are used and possessed.”

That’s mildly amusing, since Feinstein has spent decades insisting that “assault weapons” must be banned because they are so commonly used.

“And the numbers continue to grow. Between 1988 and 1997, 125 were killed in 18 mass shootings. The next decade, 1998 to 2007, 171 were killed in 21 mass shootings. And over the last 10 years, 2008 to 2017, 437 were killed in 50 mass shootings.

“That’s 89 mass shootings in the last 30 years that snuffed out the lives of more than 700 people. Additionally, many police officers killed in the line of duty are killed by assault weapons, including 1 in 5 officers killed in 2014.

But now she admits that semiautomatic firearms are not so commonly used in crime. And that’s true, looking at the firearms used in crime as a percentage of all guns, “crime guns” are perhaps just 0.0307%. The rest are used for lawful purposes like defense, hunting, target-shooting, or simply collecting.

Clearly there’s no need for a ban of devices so rarely used criminally. Thanks for noting that, Senator Feinstein.

For those unsure why “common use” is a big deal (none of my regular readers, I’m sure), it’s from the 1939 SCOTUS decision in MILLER.

“The signification attributed to the term Militia appears from the debates in the Convention, the history and legislation of Colonies and States, and the writings of approved commentators. These show plainly enough that the Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. “A body of citizens enrolled for military discipline.” And further, that ordinarily, when called for service these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time.

Feinstein knows that and is trying to get around it. Too bad she didn’t read the 2008 HELLER decision

“(f) None of the Court’s precedents forecloses the Court’s interpretation. Neither United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U. S. 542, nor Presser v. Illinois, 116 U. S. 252, refutes the individual-rights interpretation. United States v. Miller, 307 U. S. 174, does not limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes. Pp. 47–54. ”

“3. The handgun ban and the trigger-lock requirement (as applied to self-defense) violate the Second Amendment. The District’s total ban on handgun possession in the home amounts to a prohibition on an entire class of “arms” that Americans overwhelmingly choose for the lawful purpose of self-defense.

And

“The traditional militia was formed from a pool of men bringing arms “in common use at the time” for lawful purposes like self-defense. “In the colonial and revolutionary war era, [small-arms] weapons used by militiamen and weapons used in defense of person and home were one and the same.” “

Under any of the standards of scrutiny that we have applied to enumerated constitutional rights, 27 banning from the home “the most preferred firearm in the nation to ‘keep’ and use for protection of one’s home and family,” 478 F. 3d, at 400, would fail constitutional muster.”

The Supreme Court made it rather clear that common possession for lawful purpose is common use, Constitutionally speaking, Senator.

So there we have it, by Feinstein’s admission, semiautomatic firearms are rarely used in crime (as a percentage of firearms), but they are protected by the Second Amendment as interpreted bt the Supreme Court. There’s no reason to ban them, and trying would violate the Constitution. Case closed.

But the reality is that firearms are commonly used: defensively. Even the anti-rights Violence Policy Center admits to 338,700 defensive gun uses in 2007-2011, 11,690/year. Other estimates go as high as 2.5 million. Perhaps those are the uses Feinstein wants to end.

Amazon vs. the Constitution

And losing.

3-D-printed gun blueprint was uploaded in book form to Amazon as a ‘free speech exercise.’ Amazon removed it.
The free speech exercise didn’t last long. Amazon removed the book Wednesday for “violating our content guidelines,” a spokesman confirmed to The Washington Post. He declined to elaborate on exactly what guidelines the book violated or whether the decision to remove it was related to the temporary restraining order.

Of course, the restraining order was against Cody Wilson and DefDist, not everyone on the planet, which isn’t exactly one WA district judge’s jurisdiction (not that he cares about fine legal points). Which is exactly why CodeIsFreeSpeech.com could and did post the files.

Meanwhile — as of this writing — Amazon is still selling:

Huh. I wonder what “content guideline” applied to The Liberator Code Book that doesn’t apply to those books, mostly listed on Amazon for years.

Maybe it’s the plastic?

Nope (and some of that stuff is more dangerous than the Liberator).

Hand ‘em out like candy

Is there perhaps a positive change in the wind for beleaguered Israeli citizens? For several months now they have endured rockets being shot at them from the “two state solution” known as Gaza. Gaza was a fairly prosperous area prior to Israel withdrawing from the area and the citizens of Gaza electing hamass. They’ve endure rockets, bombs, firebombs, rocks, snipers, falcons being murdered by having devices attached to them so they could set more of Israel on fire than they could reach with a fire kite. All because they love the land so much they feel compelled to burn it all. There was recently a demonstration in Tel Aviv by the citizens of communities located near Gaza. They feel the government is doing enough/much/anything (circle the correct answer) to protect them.

The protesters shouted “the government must wake up – the south is burning” and “we are not cannon fodder.” They carried signs reading “the south is burning” and “we are tired of burned fields, we are tired of our children crying.”

They have darn good reason to think this way. In Orwellian double speak worthy of Yasser Arafat’s taqiyya of saying he wanted peace then explaining to the ticked off arabs he was just saying that for political reason we have this

After 250 rockets from Gaza hit Israeli locations, one a heavy Grad, Israel’s security cabinet meeting Thursday, Aug. 9, directed the IDF to continue to pursue “powerful action against terrorist forces.” This was tantamount to a decision against a major Israeli military campaign against Hamas at this time, while instead carrying on with tit-for-tat air strikes as before, and leaving the targeted communities to their despair. Some 19 people were injured in the last two days. Hamas is therefore still allowed to call the shots, exactly as it has done in the last four months, while inflicting in Israel diverse brands of terror.

The daily attacks by other arabs continue with stabbings, pro-tip, quit giving the bodies back. They don’t give Israelis back their slain. Arabs hold a big funeral, and a bunch more of them crawl out from under rocks and come into Israel to try to get money and fame by killing Israelis.

Chum Bucket, 31, approached several police officers near the Temple Mount on Friday afternoon. He tried to stab one of them with a knife before being shot dead by the officers who were at the scene.

If he’s going to attack armed police do you think he will hesitate to attack who he thinks is an unarmed vulnerable Israeli?

And he’s not the only one.

Israel Police on Wednesday said that a terror attack in Jerusalem was foiled last week.

In a statement, Israel Police said that officers operating in Jerusalem’s Old CIty noticed a suspicious individual and detained him. Upon searching the suspect, the officers found a knife and tear gas.

The suspect is a 26-year-old Arab resident of Hevron. He was immediately arrested and taken to the police station, where he was interrogated.

The criminals of course are armed, so gun control is working great there.

Police suspect the target of this morning’s shooting at a vehicle in Tel Aviv’s Kikar Hamedina Square was Ben Cohen, a criminal known to police.

Shots were fired from a scooter passing the vehicle where Cohen sat. No one was hurt and massive police forces were called to the scene.

Things are getting so serious the UN, which does not believe in the human right to self-defense, is thinking about getting involved. United Nations: Peacekeeping could protect Gazans from Israel

Are you kidding me?? Forget about Israel and the IDF you ignorant blow-hards. How about doing something about this? NIS 1 million deducted from PA transfers over torture. Need I mention they are torturing their own people. Or this little detail IDF foils Gazan infiltration attempt. Dead Jews do not concern the UN. Remember that, plan accordingly.

So, for the good news.

Public Safety Minister Gilead Erdan eased gun restrictions since armed civilians on the scene often help the police contain terrorist attacks and reduce casualties – especially in “lone wolf” incidents.”

But wait, what if your government doesn’t think your life is worth what you and your family think you life is worth. What if for example you were Elor Azariya? This case has been well covered on TZP if you have any questions just search using the little search tool on the right.

Well, we don’t have to “what if”. He applied, he was denied and the injustice continues. Apparently a James Comey (Israel version) works in the Police Department. The media knew Elor had been denied before he did. The man applied because his life was in danger, and it was in danger originally because of the liberal left being in full control of the legal process.

Terrorists do not hesitate to attack armed soldiers, police or guards. They most certainly will not hesitate to attack presumably disarmed Israeli citizens.

Palestinian youth on a stabbing rampage murders an Israeli man, injures two

A 17-year old terrorist climbed the security fence into the Adam community north of Jerusalem Thursday night, July 26, and slashed one victim after another.  Yotam Ovadia, an Israeli man of 31, whom he repeatedly stabbed, died soon after from multiple wounds, a second man, aged 58, was badly hurt and a third though injured managed to pull his gun and shoot the killer dead. The terrorist came from the nearby Palestinian village of Kobar. He must have studied the electronic fence in advance, because he was able to climb over without triggering the sensors for an alarm.

And in the end, it was a good guy with a gun that stopped the carnage. The security fence didn’t stop them, guards didn’t stop them, patrols didn’t stop them. A good guy with a gun stopped him.

Don’t be stingy Erdan, hand those gun permits out like candy.

Prescience?

While looking up some old writings, on a mostly unrelated subject, I happened across this old column:

Lacking new legislation to authorize this, the FAA simply, and arbitrarily, redefined toys to be aircraft requiring registration. [ding ding]
[…]
President Barrycade has stated his intent to issue executive orders to implement gun control, since he lacks legislation to do so.
[…]
Since Obama and other blood-dancers have stated publicly that they wish to crack down on private sales, it seems safe to assume this will be in one EO or another. But what if he emulates the FAA a little more closely?

Imagine “redefining” all firearms as NFA items. Just like toys became airplanes. Or how atmospheric plant food became a pollutant.

That was December 21,2015; one of my first columns for The Zelman Partisans. Fast forward to…

  • October 5, 2017

Basically this Constitution-shredding Senator wants to redefine “machine gun” by how fast you can make something fire, rather than being designed to fire automatically as long as the trigger is depressed.

  • February 26, 2018

“Machinegun” is defined in statutory law. Short form: a firearm that fires more than one round per trigger operation. If that can be changed by executive order, instead of congressional legislation, then everything is a machinegun waiting for the pen-stroke.

Department of Justice Submits Notice of Proposed Regulation Banning Bump Stocks

  • April 2, 2018

In short, this NPRM, and the intent of the gun controllers, is a camouflaged ban on semiautomatic firearms. Doubt it? Read the NPRM language, and ask yourself how “President Hillary Clinton” would read and apply the rule.

  • April 27, 2018

Gun Owners of America finally notices the semiauto problem with bump-fire bans, and the crowd — finally — goes wild.*

  • Las Vegas Bump Stock FOIA Claims ATF Not Allowed to Examine Weapons
“ATF did not disclose that they had not examined the firearms prior to promulgating the rule,” firearms designer and Historic Arms, LLC President Len Savage notes. “And now that the comment period is closed should they go forward with this rule under the Administrative Procedure Act that information can not be used in a court challenge because it was not submitted prior to closing of comments.

They are doing exactly what I warned of almost three years ago. My only error was in expecting it from Obama rather than dubiously “pro-2A” Trump.

You’re welcome.

* I’d like to think that had something to do with the multiple emails — and my columns — on the semi-auto problem, which I sent to GOA before they finally spoke up.

Horses, cats, and ships

I’ve noted before that 3D-printed plastic guns are impractical.

So why the emphasis on stopping them?

To suppress the technology

The Darkly Twisted Logic Behind The NRA’s Support For 3D-Printed Guns
“You go down six months, two years, five years, when these things do start to appear, and then they sort of shrug their shoulders and say you can’t regulate these things, the horse is out of the barn,” said Spitzer. “The public policy question is are these worthy of regulation or even prohibition or restriction in the first place, and if they are, what better time to do it than before they become widely in circulation?”
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/nra-3d-printed-guns-gun-control_us_5b633bcce4b0fd5c73d762b2

The cat is out of the bag, the horse has left, the barn, that ship sailed, [insert your favored metaphor].

People have been hand-making gun for centuries. 3D printing does make it easier for the unskilled to start from scratch. But you know what? There’s another grand invention that already did that.

Pipe.

Once you could go down to the hardware store and pick up iron pipe in various sizes, anybody could make a gun. And a lot of people did. And do.

Shall we ban indoor plumbing? If it saves just one life?

Political Polling

Did you ever wonder how pollsters can keep coming up with claims that 90+% of Americans want universal background checks preemptively-prove-your-innocence prior restraint on rights when every time it goes to the voters actual results never come within 30 points of the claim?

Poll: Vermonters strongly support new gun-control measures
More than two of every three Vermonters say they support the new gun-control measures signed into law by Gov. Phil Scott this year, according to the results of a poll conducted by Vermont Public Radio and Vermont PBS.

Vermont is pretty liberal, so maybe that shouldn’t be a surprise. But it’s a bit of a strange state when it comes to RKBA. When I lived in New England, I often heard how much Vermonters like their guns; libertarian types would note it with approval, liberals with befuddlement, and conservatives made jokes about “heavily armed hippies.” But everyone knew it.

So how did VPR/VPBS come up with results indicating such heavy approval of gun control? The secret is in the polling methodology, something I like to look at nearly as much as alleged results. In this case, the clue is:

“For the landline sample, interviewers requested to speak with the youngest male member of the household who is at least 18 years of age; if there was no male in the household, interviewers requested the youngest female.”

They actively screened for the youngest voting-eligible demographic. The group which most strongly leans liberal, statistically speaking. That accounts for the liberal skew in the results.

I mentioned this to someone, as an example of the worst built-in survey bias methodology I’d ever seen. And that person told me something of which I was unaware: that most phone poll calls she’s gotten do the same thing. It’s been years since I participated in a phone poll,* so I hadn’t realized this. It’s the first time I spotted that selection criteria in methodology notes (usually I see a pro-urban selection bias, and over-representation of Democrats compared to the general population).

Those young adults also tends to have the lowest voter turnout, which accounts for the fact that polls rarely match voting reality.

That age selection game is particularly problematic for Vermont.

“Vermont faces a demographic challenge. Our population is stagnant and getting older. We have fewer school-age kids, which drives up the per-pupil cost. We have fewer young adults to invigorate the workforce and pay forward the costs of retirement and health care for older Vermonters.”
The Mass Exodux Myth

But VPR and VPBS think that comparatively tiny group speaks for the older folks — gun-toting hippies — who greatly outnumber them.

So when you hear that “95% of Americans want to a$$-rape the Constitution,” remember that it really means “95% of millenials who probably aren’t going to vote, and think the Army carries semi-auto AR-15s, believe bump-fire stocks are machineguns, and expect blackmarket arms dealers to conduct universal background checks, want to bend you over the table and have their way with you. Without vaseline.”

* That’s because I don’t answer calls with blocked caller ID, or unrecognized numbers. If Pew, Gallup, or whoever wants to poll me, their caller ID should say Pew, Gallup, or whoever. And the last few poll calls I did take (years ago) turned out to be push polls, and I hung up on them.
