It’s the usual mess, defining “assault weapons” as semi-autos that use detachable magazines and have one of the same ol’ same ol other characteristics: pistol grip, adjustable or detachable stock, grenade launcher, barrel shroud, threaded barrel.
Presumably grenade launchers on pump action shotguns are still cool.
It also includes:
A semiautomatic rifle that has a fixed ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, except for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
Weirdly, despite that “semiautomatic, detachable magazine” definition, the idiot saw fit to include page after page of exempted weapons: lever actions, side by side and over and under shotguns, bolt actions, and assorted semi-autos with fixed magazines.
She’s never been noted for her cognitive acuity, even before her brain turned to jello.
As usual, Feinstein’s “ban” doesn’t actually ban any firearm. All those millions of existing AR- and AK-pattern firearms are grandfathered. Apparently at least one of the senile senator’s keepers still recalls this warning.
“The sheer immorality of victim disarmament aside, one would hope every law enforcement officer out there would stop to consider all the possible ramifications of kicking in several million doors because the occupants are well armed.”

Florida has a state preemption statute: firearms regulation is the provenance of the state, not lower level local jurisdictions. Even better, Florida law includes significant civil penalties for hopped up local politicians that try passing their own little gun control laws in their little ponds.
Naturally, they don’t like that. What? Hold us responsible for breaking the law? We have sovereign immunity!
The imposition of these civil statutory actions for violations of the Preemption Statute does not violate governmental function immunity. It is not a core municipal function to occupy an area that the Legislature has preempted, and local governments have no lawful discretion or authority to enact ordinances that violate state preemption. See Fla. Power Corp., 579 So. 2d at 107 (“While the authority given to cities and counties in Florida is broad, both the constitution and statutes recognize that cities and counties have no authority to act in areas that the legislature has preempted.”).
Accordingly, we conclude that the First District did not err in concluding that governmental function immunity does not prohibit the statutory actions in section 790.33(3)(f).
III. CONCLUSION
For the reasons explained above, we conclude that neither legislative immunity nor governmental function immunity prohibit the statutory actions and penalties in section 790.33(3)(c), (d), and (f). Accordingly, we approve the First District’s decision in City of Weston.
Anyone stupid enough to try passing local gun control laws in Florida now definitively faces fines up to $5,000, and damages up to $100,000.
Best of all:
public funds may not be used to defend or reimburse the unlawful conduct of any person found to have knowingly and willfully violated this section.
Violators are out of personal pocket for those bucks. Not the taxpayers, not the city’s insurance company.

Always read the fine print. I saw a report on a bill filed in Massachusetts, HD 353.
MA may now ban all semi-auto rifles and shotguns Virtually all semi-automatic firearms would be banned under a proposed Massachusetts law expanding the reach of its existing “assault weapons” ban.
[…]
The bill replaces the state’s lengthy definition of “assault weapon” with the phrase “any rifle or shotgun containing a semiautomatic mechanism.” Handguns are not mentioned in the bill.
Yes, and no. The bill does change some definitions in current law, specifically “Large capacity weapon”, any firearm, rifle or shotgun.” That would include assorted characteristics involving capacities and magazines.
“Large capacity weapon”, any firearm, rifle or shotgun: (i) that is semiautomatic with a fixed large capacity feeding device; (ii) that is semiautomatic and capable of accepting, or readily modifiable to accept, any detachable large capacity feeding device; (iii) that employs a rotating cylinder capable of accepting more than ten rounds of ammunition in a rifle or firearm and more than five shotgun shells in the case of a shotgun or firearm; or (iv) any rifle or shotgun containing a semiautomatic mechanism. The term “large capacity weapon” shall be a secondary designation and shall apply to a weapon in addition to its primary designation as a firearm, rifle or shotgun
MA Gen L ch 140 § 121, which the bill in question is modifying, already defines “firearm” as “a pistol, revolver or other weapon of any description, loaded or unloaded, from which a shot or bullet can be discharged.”
So while HD 353 doesn’t use the words “handgun” or “pistol,” it does include “firearm,” which does include them.
With this bill any fixed mag or revolving pistol holding more than 10 rounds would be banned. And any detachable magazine autoloader would be banned because if it takes a detachable mag, it’s “capable” of taking a large capacity mag.
Between state permits to purchase and transfer registration, all those would-be banned autoloading pistols are effectively registered. So the cops will know whose doors to knock on down.
As for semiauto rifles and and shotguns…
(iv) any rifle or shotgun containing a semiautomatic mechanism.
And reinforced in…
SECTION 4. Section 123 of said chapter 140, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “assault weapon”, in lines 146 and 147, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- any rifle or shotgun containing a semiautomatic mechanism.
This would effectively ban virtually all semiautomatic handguns, rifles, and shotguns currently lawfully possessed in Massachusetts. But, as always, those unlawfully possessed by bad guys?
Not so much. Theirs probably aren’t registered.
Nor would this ban on evil, nasty weapons of mass death apply to cops.
Odd, that.

I had occasion to look over the definitions section of Illinois’ new assault weapon ban bill, and I noticed some odd stuff.
First, Illinois achieved a first-in-the-world prize: semiautomatic “assault rifles.”
Knowledgeable types understand that “assault rifle” has long had a specific meaning: a shoulder-fired, selective-fire weapon chambered for an intermediate power cartridge.
Not in Illinois now.
“Assault shotgun or rifle” means any of the following or a copy, regardless of the producer or manufacturer:
The “following is a long list of specific manufacturers’ firearms. It does include “AR15,” but…
“AR-15” (note the dash) is a registered trademark held by Colt. The patents expired, but the trademark lives on. That’s why other companies tend to call their AR variants “XXX-15” or the like. So any AR-pattern firearm made by a company not on that list would appear to have dodged a bullet, and would seem to be still legal in the state (not really, but I’ll get to that).
Some notable AR-pattern manufacturers didn’t make the list. Daniel Defense, for instance.
Farther down in the bill, “assault weapon” gets defined. That’s an “assault pistol” (similarly defined as assault rifle), assault shotgun, assault rifle, and…
(C) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that can accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following:
The list of characteristics includes the usual: folding or telescoping stock, pistol grip, flash suppressor, and grenade launcher(?). It also lists certain types of grips. Read this very carefully.
Any grip of the weapon, including a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other stock, the use of which would allow an individual to grip the weapon, resulting in any finger on the trigger hand in addition to the trigger finger being directly below any portion of the action of the weapon when firing.
That’s any stock — pistol grip or no pistol grip — that lets you grip the rifle and still reach the trigger. Should any sheriff other than Cook County try enforcing this monstrosity, I think some hunters will be very surprised to learn their hunting rifles are now assault weapons, which must be registered.
Y’all have fun with that.
Here’s a puzzler. The law has an overly inclusive definition of “assault weapon” which includes “A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that can accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following.”
But it also has that separate and — overly — specific definition of “assault rifle”: “”Assault shotgun or rifle” means any of the following or a copy, regardless of the producer or manufacturer.” Every firearm listed in that section would already qualify as an “assault weapon” under the broader definition.
Why the two definitions? Did the idiot legislators (or whoever drafted the bill for them) think they were banning actual automatic assault rifles, in addition to darned near every other semiauto rifle, despite the fact that 720 ILCS 5/24-1 already banned automatic weapons?
I’ve asked Rep. Bob Morgan about this. We’ll see if I get a coherent response.

The ATF’s final rule on whether pistol braces magically turn pistols into short-barreled rifles was signed on January 13, 2023.
Most of the document is rationalization of why they believe they can get away with this, and explaining away NPRM commenters’ objections. They did agree that the proposed form 4999 — which used an arbitrary point system to differentiate between pistols and short-barrel rifles — was flawed. They decided that was sufficiently flawed that they abandoned it.
Nothing in the Supreme Court’s recent decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n v. Bruen, 142 S. Ct. 2111 (2022), changes this analysis. See id at 2162 (Kavanaugh, J. concurring) (reiterating Heller’s finding that “dangerous and
unusual weapons” are outside of the Second Amendment’s protections).
That presupposes that braces inherently make a perfectly acceptable firearm into a “dangerous” device without actually changing the firearm’s function. It assumes that “1.4 million” braced pistols (the ATF’s own estimate of the number extant) are “unusual.” It also completely ignores the “general historical tradition” test laid out in the main decision.
If you scroll down to page 268, you’ll find the actual final rule, and see that they opted for a evaluation system even more “arbitrary, capricious, and incoherent” than the 4999.
The short form now is that a firearm with a pistol brace is a short-barrel rifled if it is:
“a weapon that is equipped with an accessory, component, or other rearward attachment (e.g., a “stabilizing brace”) that provides surface area that allows the weapon to be fired from the shoulder”
How much surface area does it take to create a rifle? The rule doesn’t say, leaving it up to “”arbitrary, capricious, and incoherent” FTB evaluators. Just think: the more firearms they can declare short-barrel rifles, the more tax money they can collect. No perverse incentive there, eh?
And has arbitrary “other factors,” which are:
“a weight or length consistent with the weight or length of similarly designed rifles”
In a saner world, I could almost let that one slide.
“s a length of pull […] consistent with similarly designed rifles”
Length of pull, as The Zelman Partisans has noted, “presupposes that all braced pistols are SBRs until proven otherwise.” Guilty and taxable until proven innocent. It is the ATF after all.
“equipped with sights or a scope with eye relief that require the weapon to be fired from the shoulder in order to be used as designed”
That one is also almost reasonable, if it weren’t for the rest of the BS.
“Whether the surface area that allows the weapon to be fired from the shoulder is created by a buffer tube, receiver extension, or any other accessory, component, or other rearward attachment that is necessary for the cycle of operation”
Since “surface area” is purely arbitrary and undefined, I don’t see how this clarifies anything. But just wait…
“manufacturer’s direct and indirect marketing and promotional materials”
Now company advertising flacks can inadvertently turn pistols into rifles, and it has nothing to do with the physical characteristics of the firearm or brace. It gets worse, though…
“the likely use of the weapon in the general community.”
If the brace has some undefined amount of surface area, the ATF can still declare anything a short-barrel rifle simply by deciding that it’s likely some idiot somewhere will use his firearm incorrectly.
We would have been better off with the 4999, which at least didn’t test advertising fliers and ATF agents’ purported precognitive powers.
The rule gives those currently in possession of braced firearms a few options.
Send it to the ATF for evaluation, so see if it can make ot past the magic test and remain a pistol.
Destroy the firearm.
Remove the brace and destroy that.
Replace the firearm barrel with a 16 inch (or more) barrel.
Turn the firearm in to law enforcement or the ATF.
Go to prison on an NFA violation even if you have a letter from the ATF saying your braced pistol isn’t a rifle.
Or you can apply to register it. If you do so through the E-Form system within 120 days of the rules Federal Register publication, the ATF will generously waive the usual tax stamp fee.

Illinois now has an “assault weapon” ban, complete with registration for “grandfathered” firearms.
Wiser sheriffs says they will not enforce the blatantly unconstitutional law. I would guess they are the ones aware of the SCOTUS decision in BRUEN. Or possibly they recall an observation I made in the 1990s, when California was prepping its own outright ban.
“As are all law enforcement all across our state and they will in fact do their job or they won’t be in their job,” Pritzker said.
Well, he’s a Dim; it’s not like he really wants cops anyway.
But since I mentioned California’s ’90s ban and registration, they saw a remarkable 2.33% compliance rate with registration (by their own estimates). The NY SAFE Act did a little betterworse 4.45%. Connecticut rather optimistically claimed to have achieved 13.44% complaince rate. But CT’s numbers are somewhat questionable, seeing as how one single individual “registered” 544,000 high capacity magazines.
Perhaps Illinois will see a similar outburst of malicious compliance and the overly compliant stuffing their database with BS. Could some enterprising freedom-lover register a few dozen evil black rifles at 410 E Jackson Street, Springfield, IL 62701?
Databases: Garbage in, garbage out.

After reading the comments on the last column, and different things I’ve listened to, or read the last couple of days, there is one more column left for Hannukah 2022. Again, I have no explanation, it’s just there and I’m sharing it. I promise, this is the last one (I’m pretty sure because this was the last day of Hannukah).
Before the actual battles of Hannukah, which attempted to eradicate the Jewish presence there was the spiritual battle to eradicate the Jewish presence. Not by killing the people, which came later, but by killing Judaism. I probably should have put a trigger warning on this column, so consider this it. Not the first time I’ve grabbed the 3rd rail.
This is where I think we are now. In the part where “The World” tries to eliminate religion, and this time it’s the presence of G-d. I would maintain the world has always tried to eliminate the Jews because they were the ones that were tasked with bringing the knowledge of G-d into the world. As people we have free choice, free will. We can choose to pick the things of pleasure and short term gratification in the world, or we can choose to follow the laws of G-d and his plan for a beautiful world. It’s like looking at architecture plans to me, I don’t read them so I can’t see how they work to make a beautiful building until much of it is in built and in place. But the plans were laid it out all along. Yes, that deck off the 2nd floor bed room sounds like a great idea and like lots of fun, especially when the hot tub was added in, but if the original plans didn’t account for it and the support for it wasn’t there in the plans, it won’t play out well. The same with how choosing what seems like a pleasurable choice at the time, may have consequences. Be it three pieces of fudge truffle cheesecake or a third beer or the junk Hollyweird puts out. But if only good is offered or available, how is that free will? Our fight with our more carnal desires allows us to sharpen our spiritual ones.
The battle today is “The World” against traditional families. A girlfriend and I were texting the other day and she made a comment of something her grandma used to say; as the family goes, so goes the country. I think it takes about 1 second to see that Hollyweird and mainstream media have had the traditional (according to G-d’s plan) family under attack for years. We’ve never had such gender confusion in our children, we’ve not seen women discriminated against openly for years until the trans-woman became far more important that stock from the factory woman. For evidence I only need point to the man swimming as a woman Lea Thomas because he’s such a loser he couldn’t succeed as man so he chose and easier way. When women have showed up to protest against things like men in women’s changing rooms they’ve been physically attacked by trans women. And apparently that’s fine because there is no outrage. But their fight isn’t with me, it’s with G-d.
I became suspicious of the sudden switch of the media from covid covid covid death death death vax vax vax to Ukraine Ukraine Ukraine very early on, because it was following the same pattern. As I’ve mentioned more than once, the citizens of the Donbas voted to rejoin Russia with darn good reason, more than once they’ve voted like that. And while “The World” and the U.S. media simper on about rigged elections I think the coverage of the faux elections in Arizona and the resulting lawsuits should pretty much stamped paid to any credibility to that claim. They could care less about the honesty of elections. The Donbas voted with paper ballots into clear cubes so people could see what was put in. I realize counting is a question, but monitors on the ground have said it was run better than U.S. elections. I know, that doesn’t take much these days. So is a first grade raffle. Run by the students. We’re coming back to this shortly.
And now Americans struggle to heat and eat and survive in the global warming ice freezer.
Princess Hokum thinks she is very powerful indeed.
Bob F., I’m trying to just put quotes in italics instead of labeling them as quotes, maybe the font won’t go grey.
For the moment 32 dead are to be deplored in 8 states and the authorities fear a heavier toll in the future.
Tens of thousands of Americans were without power this Christmas Eve weekend.
Rescuers fear that some may be trapped in their vehicle.
The Governor of New York State compared the climatic situation in which the country finds itself with that experienced during the devastating “Blizzard” of 1977. In her speech, Kathy Hochul called on her citizens to fight one more day against this cold mortal.
“We are at war.
It’s a war with mother nature,” insisted the Governor.
A number of U.S. utility companies called on customers to conserve electricity due to frigid weather on Saturday and Sunday.
Con Edison, which serves the New York City metropolitan area, asked its 1.1 million natural gas, 3.5 million electric, and other customers in New York City to conserve power. Temperatures in the Big Apple plunged to about 15 degrees F overnight on Saturday and Sunday morning.
So, how are those windmills and solar panels from China that the Biden crime regime are trying to force us into working out? Oh, it says, 32 dead, so far. I’m truly fearful for working families, commuters, the elderly and people on fixed income. And obviously, don’t travel in bad weather without extra warm gear in the car.
People freezing to death in their cars. NEVER drive in places like this without trunk gear that includes serious wool from head to toe, and serious sleeping bags in the trunk. For every person we read about who died, a lot more will have lost body-parts to frostbite. Slowly freezing to death is one of the worst ways to go.
War with Mother Nature? I’ll pass. Live with Mother Nature — get 100% wool, and down sleeping bags if you can afford. The best warm-gear is still made by Mother Nature and cannot be mass produced so costs a little more, but is worth it.~~ Michael Yon
The other thing that I think is going to come into play as well as the frigid weather, and decreased fuel availability and purposefully damaged supply chain (Pete Butt-edge-edge’s racist highways are being destroyed along with his other policies) that will lead to a shortage of needed medicine, fuel and food, is people’s immune systems.
The more you’ve been injected, the weaker your immune system is. But that’s not the only threat our specie faces from this military project called the experimental gene therapy injections.
VAERS Shows a 4070% Increase in Miscarriages and Stillbirths Since mRNA Roll-out.
As the Greek-Syrian empire forbid the teaching of Judaism, circumcision and observance of Shabbat and festivals so it couldn’t be passed on to the children of the next generation, today’s Greek-Syrians are preventing children. Another way of winning the war without firing a shot, just injecting one. It’s “safe and effective”. Their lord and savior Fauxci says so.
Which brings me to my next point. Religion. As we discussed in my last column, there are woke in every brand of religion, and we discussed Judaism’s. But Christianity has their woke pastors as well. Someone sent me a meme of a “Woke Pastor” costume for halloween with white skinny jeans, I think a gold chain and maybe some CDs and a Starbucks cup with a picture of some kind of goddess on the front. I don’t think I saved the meme though. In the war for Independence, it was the Black Robe regiment that helped win the war. This is well worth listening to at about 10 minutes long.
Many of our nation’s laws came from G-d’s law, and woke spiritual leaders of every brand ignore and dismiss that. How are they fit to lead and teach? Our rights come from G-d, the politicians are to follow the Constitution which enumerates them and is to protect them, it doesn’t bestow them. G-d did. How are there to be good, healthy and moral families when the spiritual leaders as well as elected ones let us down and in fact attempt to deceive?
So back to Ukraine and Russia. My heart hurts for the Ukrainian people. They have been betrayed in the deepest sense of the word by so many.
Ukraine has been a money laundering operation for demoncrats and corrupt republican politicians for years. The CIA arranged regime change in Ukraine under Barry Sotero, and the U.S. has bio-weapons labs there that are funded by taxpayer dollars while they most assuredly do not want taxpayers to know what is going on in them. Zelensky is locking up political opponents, shutting down news media critical of him, shutting down and banning churches and their leaders and seizing their properties and demoncrats and worthless republicans jump for joy and call this democracy. Tells you about their mindset. All done with out tax money no less. The politicians of all nations and brands are more than willing to fight to the last drop of Ukrainian blood.
I find I often get news that is pertinent from other countries rather than American sources, so these next couple of sound clips come from Israel.
First, Zelenksy doesn’t take this “war” seriously. Oh yes, he takes the money, seriously, he takes lots and lots of American taxpayer dollars shelled out by human pieces of excrement like the murder turtle, Roy Blunt and Jerry Moron. Money taxpayers won’t have to pay for heat, food, or fuel. Money we won’t be spending on our border, because we are spending in Ukraine. Money we don’t have to pay our National Guard soldiers, because we are giving it to Ukraine. This war time situation is so serious, that Zelensky did an episode of Letterman, in Ukraine. But I’ll let you listen to part of this episode of “Lighten Up”. I’m trying to start it at 18:50 seconds into the show. The relevant part only goes to about 23:30, so not that long. But worth listening to their take.
So, how’s Ukraine handling their war? And this is just till November of last year.
Chronicle of undeclared Ukrainian aggression against NATO.
1. March 2 – Ukrainian S-300 air defense system destroyed a Romanian MiG-21 fighter. The pilot is dead.
2. March 2 – Ukrainian air defense shot down a Romanian military transport helicopter Mi-8, which flew out to look for a MiG-21 fighter shot down by Ukraine.
3. March 3 – Estonian bulk carrier Helt was blown up by a Ukrainian naval mine off the coast of Odessa. Four people are missing.
4. March 10 – Ukrainian UAV Tu-141 “Swift” attacked Zagreb. Luckily, no one died.
5. March 13 – Ukrainian Volkssturm shot down the car of an American journalist from the New York Times, Brent Reno, in the Irpen region, who, according to Iranian intelligence services, worked as a CIA officer in Iraq.
6. September 9 – a Romanian minesweeper was blown up by a Ukrainian naval mine near Constanta. Luckily, there were no fatalities.
7. November 9 – A Turkish boat was blown up by a Ukrainian naval mine off the coast of Turkey. Luckily, no one died.
8. November 15 – The Ukrainian S-300 air defense system attacked Poland, destroying 2 Polish citizens and a tractor trailer.
Under the guise of a war with Russia, Ukraine is waging a hybrid war against NATO!
Which bring us to my distrust of the attacks on Russia and Putin early on. For one, I’ve heard from more than one person that Putin has been decent (the comment good was used a couple of time) for the Jews. I have no personal knowledge, so that’s hearsay, but it’s hearsay from people that personally know. Human piece of excrement Lindsey Graham came flat out and said the war in Ukraine is about deposing Putin and regime change in Russia. No mention of what happens when someone else, and possibly less stable than Putin gains control of all those nukes.
But why? Why these attacks on Russia? Again, another Israeli podcast. This one covers some Hanukkah history you may (or not) have heard before, and of course it’s fascinating. But I especially think one of the comments made in the podcast have the answer to my question. It involves Christianity more than Judaism really, and Russia.
I’m trying to start this at 42:46 into the show.
This actually makes sense in a way to me. There has to be another reason other than “Putin bad”. Look, there’s lots of bad rulers out there. I’m sure many of them are supported by U.S. and put in place by the FIB and the CIA. But apparently, Russia is Christian, at least more so than many other nations. Is this what’s behind “The World” turning against Russia? We are in the spiritual battle of Hanukkah where the general shows up in Modi’in and demands they sacrifice an unclean animal on their alter. The spiritual battle before Mattias picks up his sword and says “Oh HELLinized NO”. The Judah battle came after.
REBEL! Fight back! Have strong, healthy loving families. Raise them with the principles of your faith, raise them to understand, not just recite strong conservative values. Think twice before you send them off to the communist creation centers known as college and university. Observe and love your family Shabbat/Sabbath. Pigpen, I have thought much about your comments on my last column. My idea of marriage was always a partnership. Someone with whom you had common goals, beliefs and principles, a moral compass if you will. Someone who picks up your weak points and you shore up theirs. Someone who can (though I’m sure it doesn’t always work out this way) be a safe port in the storm called life. Someone you want at your back. Your message was so beautiful, inspiring and clear. May G-d bless you and your family, even more. The dating advice my cousin gave me was “Pick someone you want at your back during the zombie apocalypse.” He said after seeing his wife at the range, he was convinced he had chosen well. Actually his advice isn’t far off or bad.
In these times, when we’ve been betrayed by so many institutions that should have had our backs, I just think about this meme I got this morning. A tip of my Stetson to Mike.
When the government says you don’t need a gun….
Y.B., you’re more than welcome, it is my honor and pleasure. Just know that there will never be enough words or emotion to express the gratitude I have for you and your family.
Sorry folks, I don’t know what’s come over me, but it just seems like there are tons of thoughts to share. Must be the candles. So, here goes tonight’s; marriage, children and the continuation of Judaism. Although I also maintain that what I have to say about the continuation of Judaism also applies equally to the continuation of our country or even conservatism. After this I’ll probably knock it off.
What set me off this time? Shimshon and I watched Fiddler on the Roof the other night. I hadn’t seen it for a few years, and still remember the first time I ever saw it. I was of course, much younger than. The first time I ever saw it, I couldn’t understand Tevye being so hard with his daughters. How could he be so stiff as to deny them the chance to marry who they wished. They wanted to marry for love, as I’m sure everyone does desire to have love in their marriage. But I thought wow, I’m glad those days are gone. And in the end, the girls got to marry who they chose. However, I’m old now, and as my Dad promised when I was young, I begin to see things differently, it’s as though the lens of life shifts a bit. It brings other things into focus, while dimming others. I was texting with a girlfriend a few days ago and we talked about it. Here’s the conclusions I reached during our conversation.
Thinking about Fiddler on the roof today after Menorah lighting last night and have a very different perspective than when I first saw it years ago or even the last time I watched it here about 4 or 5 years ago.
Back then of course my sympathies were with the daughters. How could Tevye be so rigid?
The oldest married an observant Jew, just poor and they continued the Jewish line. Judaism will continue through them.
The middle married a non-observant who’s religion is communism and revolution. They will have children who join Peace Now where female Rabbis use Jewish prayers to publicly pray for the souls of the arabs killed by the IDF in the act of trying to murder Jews.
The youngest? She got married in a Christian church.. She and Fyedka will have children that will work for the ADL and anti-Jewish organization or will end up like Kamel-toe’s husband. Jewish in name but in observance no.
I judge none of the 3. We all want to marry for love. Everyone dreams of that. But I do have a much deeper understanding of Tevye.
Now this is a good night to talk about it, because it’s the 5th night of Hannukah. This is an especially propitious time for single who want to get married and those that are so inclined to pray for them to find their soul mate. If you want more information about this, here is one of my favorite Rabbis, Rabbi Alon Anava.
Ok, back to our regularly scheduled message.
The abomination called the omnibus bill passed. Full List: How Senators Voted on the $1.8 Trillion Omnibus Package. What is in it? It’s over 4,000 pages. What with time spent trying to impress a comedian who showed up in a jogging outfit demanding money, who had time to read it? Probably no one voting for it. But Zero Hedge is able to clue you in. The short summation, it will fund more tyranny to be exerted on law-abiding American citizens. And it will give plenty of money to the tyrants to do just that. Anything about securing our border from the current invasion? Nope, not really. But Ukraine’s of course. So while Zelenksy is locking up opposing political parties, locking up religious leaders and seizing their buildings, we are paying for that because it’s regime change in Russia, full steam ahead. Many of them have openly said that. I’ve really got to see if Vlad will text me how long we’ve got before we’ve pushed him past this red line, because unlike Barry Sotero with his red lines, Vlad doesn’t seem to ignore them. What is in all this mess for U.S.? The average American citizen? More tyranny tied up with a nice bow by the Murder Turtle. A fair amount of this will also include medical tyranny, which seems to be the most effective means they’ve found thanks to the help from a mainstream media more dishonest than Pravda. I’ve long felt the plandemic was part of the game to bring America to heel. There was too much off about how it was being handled.
America is being taken down from the inside. A huge part of it is the education of our children, and for some, children that have left the path they were raised to follow. How many poor parents these days tried to pass on conservative beliefs, a sense of right and wrong, justice, good and nobility only to watch their child run off to Moscow to preach communism? Ok, that bit comes from the movie. They don’t understand, like Perchik that things that sound just great can camouflage absolute atrocities. Will Hodel and Perchik have children to grow up and embrace the faith of her parents in time, after he’s out of Sibera? Maybe, but I doubt is. He worships revolution far more than G-d it seems. So I’m sticking with my original assessment. Only Tzeitel, the oldest daughter and her husband are likely to pass down Judaism.
I read something years ago, more than I care to remember called Sundown At Coffin Rock. I didn’t know if it would still be on the internet or not. It’s probably a 3-5 minute read and takes place in what I’m guessing is the not too distant future. It’s about how this current crop of children will treat freedom and the ability to defend it. Like I said, it’s stuck with me for years. I’m afraid that many of the youth coming up today will not only be fine with the changes the omnibus abomination will bring, but will embrace and try to further them. Because that’s how they’ve been indoctrinated. The one good thing I can think of that the covid scam has done is opened many parents eyes to the the public education system. Wide open.
But for this 5th night of Hannukah, I have good to share as well. Because there can’t be hardly anything cuter, here is my little boy wearing his Hannukah outfit this year.
Cute is cute.
And then I have a very freedom minded Hannukah song from Rabbi Michoel Green. It’s a very catchy tune, I like it!
And the despicable NY Times with it’s stellar record of printing all the news that’s fit to print seems to have an odd idea of what is fit to print. One that I suspect honest, decent Americans might differ with.
For instance, here’s what they choose to ignore. Back before Ukraine was “cool”. I guess they didn’t know how handy money laundering for demoncrats was yet.
So what does the NY Times see fit to print? Ahh, a Hannukah present!
A Hannukah crossword from the slimes
I’m still waiting for the ADL to explain why this isn’t anti-semitic and tell people we’re being ridiculous. And even if it is anti-semitic it’s Donald Trump’s fault.
But you know what? This is from a public Hannukiah lighting tonight. The Hannukiah has 9 branches, one for each of the 8 nights, plus the shamash, the servant candle used to light the others. The Menorah in The Temple had 7 branches.
The Rabbi opening the ceremony
Rabbi gives a short talk to open up
This is the Mayor Lighting the servant (shamash) candle. Two other candles are because it’s the second night of Hannukah.
The Mayor lights it up!
Then the Fire Department began to drop little Hannukiahs on parachutes! Is this cool or what?
Look at those adorable little parachutes!
Then they commenced with the gelt drop! Gelt are chocolate coins, they can be used to play sevivon/dreidel when you gamble. Look to the left side of the picture, got them mid-flight!
Here comes the geltChocolate!
So you know what NY Times? Our G-d stepped in and with his mighty arm gave the Maccabees victory, Judaism survived. We’re still here, so stuff it!
We are living in Hannukah times. Today in school rather than learning actual American history, children are taught the 1619 nonsense, or anything bad about America, whether true or not that the woke teacher decides to shove down their gullets. Merrick Garland’s son-in-law makes his money selling critical race theory books to schools. I guess this would explain why parents who don’t want their children being taught they will never succeed in life because of their skin color are labeled terrorists. Math? Nope that’s too hard for blacks and Hispanics so standards are lowered so it will make rotten teachers look acceptable. Science? Trust the science? HAHAHAHAHAHA, no one is ever believing that old canard again or probably trusting much in the way of the medical industrial complex or the pharmaceutical industry again either. Nor should they. One commercial on TV is for a pill, five minutes later it’s for a lawyer advertising to represent you if you’ve been harmed by it. “Safe and Effective” is destined to be a punch line on late night TV if there are ever comedy shows on it again some day. I’m guessing patriotism in school these days is as dead as the trust level in the federal government after the #TwitterFiles stories have come out. Not to mention the CIA involvement in the JFK assassination. Our bodies and our children’s bodies no longer belong to us or the parents, according to the government of some countries. With the vaxx or be fired, vaxx or no organ transplant it’s been made clear we’ve been sold out to the medical industrial complex. And tragically in addition to the corrupt FDA and CDC pushing the death dart on innocent people including children it was clear that those agencies have been corrupted and captured beyond repair. Or belief. The only people that believe them are getting their 7th booster and still wearing 3 masks. And now the blood supply. Twice recently parents very reasonably asked for their infants to be given safe unvaxxed blood during surgery. Both parents lined up safe, unvaxxed compatible blood donations for their infants. In New Zealand; New Zealand government tries to seize guardianship of baby after parents demand unvaccinated blood for surgery they did seize the baby and did the surgery. Despite the parents having 20 donors lined up, the hospital refused to use them. They haven’t told the parents if they used contaminated blood or clean but so far the baby is still alive. In America it didn’t turn out so well for the baby. HOSPITAL HOMICIDE: Newborn baby DIES from “huge blood clots” following pre-surgery transfusion of covid vaccine-tainted blood This one the parents also had clean blood that had been donated for the baby, following all the hospital rules. They hospital “couldn’t find it”, so they gave the baby contaminated blood. And then proceed to delete records. Some stories I’ve seen said they’ve upped the ante saying they didn’t treat him.
Baby Alex was born with a 95 percent survivable congenital heart defect as well as anemia, which required a blood transfusion. Since a close friend of the family had previously died after getting injected for the Fauci Flu, Alex’s parents specifically asked for clean blood to go into his body.
A member of the family’s church who is both unvaccinated and a blood type match donated the blood to Sacred Heart, which agreed to use it in the transfusion. However, when it came time to do the procedure, the hospital claims it “lost” the pure blood sample, after which staff members proceeded to give Baby Alex blood from the general pool.
The baby developed a blood clot which didn’t respond to anti-coagulant therapy. If you’ve seen some of those blood clots they fish out of people that’s kind of understandable. They aren’t really blood. Unvaccinated Blood Is Now in Very High Demand
A growing number of people in need of blood transfusions are requesting blood that comes from people who haven’t received COVID-19 shots
Pathologist Dr. Ryan Cole compared the current unknowns regarding “vaccinated blood” with HIV-tainted blood that was used for transfusions in the 1980s
Directed donations and autologous donations, or self-donation, are options for receiving blood free of mRNA, but in both cases you’ll need your doctor to submit a Red Cross Special Collections Order form
A “Safe Blood” donation campaign has also been formed to match blood donors and recipients who have not had COVID-19 shots
It’s unknown whether blood donated by people who’ve received mRNA COVID-19 shots poses a risk to those who receive it. A growing number of people aren’t willing to take any chances, however, and are requesting blood that comes from unvaccinated patients.
In the leftist media and schools they’re doing their best to confuse children as to their gender, and in kindergarden and grade schools children are being sexually groomed. Guess that explains why a bunch of kids can’t read now. Which got time to learn about reading when there’s a drag queen in class to hand out brownies and teach the tiny tots about butt plugs?
If they can rip every shred of certainty out of the kids, they will be so much easier to manipulate because they have nothing to hold on to as true, as certain, as real. They will become as easy to manipulate as your average college student.
In the leftist world
So how does this hot mess stack up against Hannukah times? Well, in 174 BCE (3586), Antiochus IV ruled the region. He wanted to be called Epiphanes, meaning “the gods’ beloved”. We called him Epimanes “madman”, He was harsh, cruel corrupt and did nothing for the land of Israel or the people there. Ok, lining up so far as leadership I’d say. Israel was ruled by the Syrian-Greek style which meant Judaism was pretty much outlawed. What weren’t we allowed to observe? Jewish worship was forbidden, and the scrolls of the Law were confiscated and burned. Sabbath rest, circumcision and the dietary laws were prohibited under penalty of death. Many brave Jews refused, preferring death. Meanwhile the Hellenized (assimilated) Jews were peachy fine with all this and were on board with getting rid of such outdated “customs”. Obviously they must not have considered the word of G-d to be taken seriously, right? So parents had no control over how their children were raised. No Jewish education, no circumcision, no word on tattoos or gender reassignment that I could find. This gave rise to the attempt to secretly teach some of Judaism and Torah using the Dreidel or Sevivon. What about control over our own bodies. Yeah, not always so much. Part of the start of the Maccabean war was sparked by Hannah, the sister of the brothers. Seems the custom of the time was when a woman (or young girl) married, she had to spend her wedding night with a Greek governor, because they couldn’t get women to sleep with them any other way I guess. Actually this last link talks about each of the five brothers. Only Judah was Maccabee.
The law at the time required every Jewish woman to spend her first night as a married woman with the Greek governor. This decree went on for a while, causing many women to either not marry or to endure this horrible violation. On Chanah’s wedding night, she spiritedly persuaded her brothers to stand up for justice and to rid themselves of the depraved governor.38
The Maccabees resolved to take on the Greeks, stormed the governor’s palace, killed him and wreaked havoc in his camp. This incident served as another spark that catapulted the already unsteady military situation into a full-on war
Yep, bodies not our own and the Greek version of various and sundry politicians and denizens of Hollyweird.
No worship or Shabbat? Hello Covid lock-downs.
Yeah, I’d say we’re there. I could come up with plenty more ways but I want to touch on a couple of other things.
Judah. Maccabee, the meaning has a few possibilities. Either Hammer, for his ferocity in battle or his preferred weapon. Or as an acronym for Mi kamokha ba’elim Adonai, “Who among the gods is like you, O Adonai?” Which was the battle cry. The family was called Hasmonean. The link above gives each of the other sons surnames, even though they all became know as the Maccabees.
This kerfluffle started when the army of Antiochus IV came to Modi’in to try to force the group there to sacrifice to an idol. Mattias the priest would not betray G-d. He said “Not only NO, but HELLenized NO”! A Hellenized (assimilated ADL type Jew) stepped forward and said “Ah, it’s no big deal, I’ll do it”. Then Mattias said “The HELLenized you say!! Over your dead body!” And he killed him. I love a happy ending. The family realized the ATF and the IRS Seleucid army was fixin to descend on them and they took to the hills. Those lads knew how to fight a guerrilla war, until enough had joined them to fight battles head on.
Which brings me to another one of my what seems to have become Hannukah traditions. Posting Judah Maccabee’s speech.
1 Maccabees Chapter 3
10 Then Apollonius* gathered together the Gentiles, along with a large army from Samaria, to fight against Israel.
11 When Judas learned of it, he went out to meet him and struck and killed him. Many fell wounded, and the rest fled.
12 They took their spoils, and Judas took the sword of Apollonius and fought with it the rest of his life.
13 But Seron, commander of the Syrian army, heard that Judas had mustered an assembly of faithful men ready for war.
14 So he said, “I will make a name for myself and win honor in the kingdom. I will wage war against Judas and his followers, who have despised the king’s command.”
15 And again a large company of renegades advanced with him to help him take revenge on the Israelites.
16 When he reached the ascent of Beth-horon,* Judas went out to meet him with a few men.
17 But when they saw the army coming against them, they said to Judas: “How can we, few as we are, fight such a strong host as this? Besides, we are weak since we have not eaten today.”
18 But Judas said: “Many are easily hemmed in by a few; in the sight of Heaven there is no difference between deliverance by many or by few;
19 for victory in war does not depend upon the size of the army, but on strength that comes from Heaven.
20 With great presumption and lawlessness they come against us to destroy us and our wives and children and to despoil us;
21 but we are fighting for our lives and our laws.
22 He* will crush them before us; so do not fear them.”
23 When he finished speaking, he rushed suddenly upon Seron and his army, who were crushed before him.
24 He pursued Seron down the descent of Beth-horon into the plain. About eight hundred* of their men fell, and the rest fled to the land of the Philistines.
Hannukah refers to dedication, as in after the Hasmonean army captured The Temple, it was in shambles and profaned having had pigs sacrificed on the alter. They set about restoring and rededicating it. Which brings me to miracles, one of my favorite subjects.
There are several miracles actually. They found a small jar of oil, enough for one night. There is a tradition that is what Jacob went back across the river to fetch when he and his family left Laban’s fine company and hospitality. I find that miraculous. It was still in the Temple with the seal of the High Priest. That’s pretty miraculous too. Enough oil for 1 night lasted for 8 nights, the amount of time to make a new batch of kosher oil for the Menorah. That’s miraculous, 7 of them as there was enough for 1 night to start with. But there is still an 8th miracle in there. Rather than saying “Well nuts, lighting for one night isn’t going to do anything. We should hang on to this, we don’t want to light for just one night and then have to wait 7 more”. The miracle was even though it seemed pointless, even though it seemed like there was no purpose in doing it, they went ahead and could not bear to delay putting off the Mitzvah of lighting the Menorah. They couldn’t wait to begin to shed light to drive away the darkness. And that’s how I think I should be. While I may not be able to right situations, or fix everything, I must do what I can to kindle my flame and drive out the darkness I can. Even though sometimes it seems like that is beyond me, with his help, it’s not. It’s why I’m here. It’s why we all are here in the place, at this time. Apologies Esther. We aren’t called upon the change THE WORLD, we are called upon to change ourselves and the world around us, in whatever ways G-d puts to us. Look at the impact one man, Elon Musk is having. Is he a certified good guy? As far as free speech he is. The flow of information is going to have an impact I believe.
And lastly I will share a deep secret with you I learned today from my Rabbi; why do we eat all those fried foods at Hannukah? Sufganyiot and Latkes? Well, in contrast to the ideal of outward beauty held by the Greeks and Syrians, Judaism emphasizes truth and moral purity, as commanded by G‑d in the holy Torah. The Jewish people could never give up their faith in G‑d and accept the idol-worship of the Syrians. The Greeks were all about the body, naked exercise at the gym, worshiping the physical and the spiritual was ignored.
The Jews rebelled and said “NO WAY, are we going to be like that! Pass me the sour cream for my latke please and I’ll have the lemon sufganiyah!”
Dreidel Dog, Moshe the Mensch on a Bench and the Zebra from Zion. Brad’s Hannukiah in the backgroundBecause I can never see this enough.
I’ve added the Zebra from Zion to my Moshe the Mensch on a bench and Dreidel dog this year. Yes, I think I’m done. The Hannukiah in the back ground was Brad’s. I treasure it every day, and bless Jo Ann for giving it to me but I especially treasure it this time of year. It is the most amazing Hannukiah I’ve ever seen.
It’s about spreading the light, no matter how little oil it feels like we have.
First night of Hannukah is tomorrow night.
חג חנוכה שמח
Happy Hannukah!
Jews. Guns. No compromise. No surrender.
