“Bump-Stock-Type Devices” (sic) Commenting Now Open

Notice of Proposed Rulemaking: Bump-Stock Type Devices
Summary

The Department of Justice (Department) proposes to amend the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives regulations to clarify that “bump fire” stocks, slide-fire devices, and devices with certain similar characteristics (bump-stock-type devices) are “machineguns” as defined by the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) and the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), because such devices allow a shooter of a semiautomatic firearm to initiate a continuous firing cycle with a single pull of the trigger. Specifically, these devices convert an otherwise semiautomatic firearm into a machinegun by functioning as a self-acting or self-regulating mechanism that harnesses the recoil energy of the semiautomatic firearm in a manner that allows the trigger to reset and continue firing without additional physical manipulation of the trigger by the shooter. Hence, a semiautomatic firearm to which a bump-stock-type device is attached is able to produce automatic fire with a single pull of the trigger. With limited exceptions, primarily as to government agencies, the GCA makes it unlawful for any person to transfer or possess a machinegun unless it was lawfully possessed prior to the effective date of the statute. The bump-stock-type devices covered by this proposed rule were not in existence prior to the GCA’s effective date, and therefore would fall within the prohibition on machineguns if this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) is implemented. Consequently, current possessors of these devices would be required to surrender them, destroy them, or otherwise render them permanently inoperable upon the effective date of the final rule.

I submitted my comment a few minutes ago.

Docket number: 2017R-22

The NPRM falsely states: “Specifically, these devices convert an otherwise semiautomatic firearm into a machinegun by functioning as a self-acting or self-regulating mechanism that harnesses the recoil energy of the semiautomatic firearm in a manner that allows the trigger to reset and continue firing without additional physical manipulation of the trigger by the shooter. Hence, a semiautomatic firearm to which a bump-stock-type device is attached is able to produce automatic fire with a single pull of the trigger.”

That is factually incorrect, and inconsistent with objective physical reality. Firing still requires the trigger finger to engage and operate the trigger individually for each shot fired, after the firearm is MANUALLY pulled forward again with the shooter’s off hand.

Bump-fire stocks do not increase the “rate of fire.” The rate of fire from a “single trigger pull” is still 1. Each round discharged still requires an individual manual operation of the trigger IN THIS UNIVERSE. The firearm’s cyclic rate of fire is determined by the physics of the firearm’s internal parts: Mass, resistance, inertia, mechanical engagement, force of discharging cartridge. If anything, a bump-stock-type device would bleed recoil energy and cause a reduction in the theoretical maximum.

Bump-fire stocks do not “accelerate the firearm’s cyclic firing rate to mimic automatic fire.” Again, that rate is determined by the internal action of the firearm, not an external stock.

A bump-stock-type device merely aids the untrained shooter in achieving something closer to the firearm’s inherent theoretical rate of fire. (Again, since some recoil energy is bled off to assist in manual trigger operation, it probably prevents the shooter ever reaching the actual theoretical maximum.) Bump-fire stocks are training wheels.

The ATF previously ruled that the Akins Accelerator differed from modern bump-stock-type devices in that the spring in the stock acted as an active component to force the firearm into the ready-to-fire position trigger against the shooter’s finger, without additional action by the shooter. With a modern bump-stock-type device, the shooter must MANUALLY return the firearm to the ready-to-fire position, at which time the shooter MANUALLY operates the trigger again.

This is very easy to test, three ways, each using a bump-stock-type device:

1. Pull the trigger a single time and immediately move your finger forward off of the “ledge” (or “finger rest”). If the firearm continues to fire without further operation of the trigger, it is a machinegun. If it does not continue to fire, it is not a machinegun.

2. Should this not be clear enough, fire again; this time keeping your trigger finger off of the “ledge” so that your finger holds the trigger down, preventing it from resetting. If the firearm continues to fire without further operation of the trigger, it is a machinegun. If it does not continue to fire, it is not a machinegun.

3. If you are still unclear on the concept, pull the trigger, but keep the rifle pressed back in a conventional non-bump-fire mode (i.e.- don’t pull the rifle forward). If the firearm continues to fire without further operation of the trigger, it is a machinegun. If it does not continue to fire, it is not a machinegun.

If one cannot understand this, then that person is mentally incompetent and should be adjudicated as such under 18 U.S. Code § 922(d)(4), and should be removed from office.

If one will not understand this, then that person is guilty of malfeasance and should be removed.

Tactics

A recent comment on my post Bumping Off the Truth about the lies behind bump-fire bans.

I understand and totally agree with you. But this has already been lost. So what are we to do about all of the things happening on the pro gun control front? I believe that without the MSM pushing the agenda forward, that it would die a sudden death, but that is not going to happen. For some reason, the leftist elite of the fourth estate has decided that this must be the time to try and push for the whole hog(g).

I don’t know. As I’ve mentioned before, countering the media gatekeepers is expensive, and a long term solution. I have ideas, but not the resources to implement them.

Some things that might work in the shorter term, but which I still lack the money or charisma to pull off:

Mass Protests: a la Marx for Your Lives.
A nonprofit reserved time in DC for a protest. Giffords’ group arranged transportation to ship in dupes.

Let’s see the NRA put up or shut up; their big chance to redeem themselves. The NRA — the financial gorilla supposedly in the pro-RKBA arena — could do the same thing. Schedule it now. July or August. Reserve buses to do pickups across the country. Set up a web site for folks to coordinate crash space.

The tough part is that, unlike the unemployed and student masses which the left uses, activist gun owners tend to be in the productive class, which means they have to be at their jobs being productive. But if they have a few months to schedule things, a lot could arrange the day(s) off for travel to a weekend event. Plus — just as the Marxists did — local/regional gatherings for those who can’t make the DC trek.

Strike: Hey, we tend to be the productive class. Remember the “strike” for illegal immigrants? Coordinate one single day for a mass outbreak of… red, white, and blue-flu. “Sorry; I can’t make it in today. I’m terribly sick of my rights being violated, and facing false murder accusations.” Or lock the shop door, and hang a “Gone target shooting. Back when my rights are too.” sign.

Call it a “Bill of Rights Strike.”

Letter campaigns: You know how GOA gets everyone to sign those form emails to congresscritters? Is there any reason the addressing can’t handle hundreds of news service editors’ desks? All at once? How ’bout it GOA?

Better yet, for once I’d prefer snailmail post cards. Coordinated to be mailed all on the same day. Make a downloadable template for folks to print and address to local papers, and radio and television stations.

“An open letter to victim disarming controllers,

“…shall not be infringed.”

infringe: to commit a breach or infraction of; violate or transgress

NO.

Now what are you doing to do?

/signed/

55-120 million gun owners who didn’t do it

Print a stack and mail them — again, all on a single day — to every Representative, Senator, and state legislators. Local politicians, too. Don’t forget the White House either. Send them to newspapers and broadcasters.

If 7% (a rough figure for how many out of any group typically does something) of gun owners did that, the human/civil rights violators would be flooded with piles of post cards and emails from at least 3,850,000 people. If each person sent 14 post cards (and 14 emails) — to his congressman, Senators, state reps, state senator, governor, state attorney general, US AG, CNN, ABC, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, and a local paper — that’s 53 million snailmail cards (and 53 million emails). Ambitious types with more cash on hand could send these to every congressman and Senator.

Go all out; send them to the Brady Campaign (or whatever their name is today), Everytown, Moms Demand Blood, MAIG, the NRA, and any other pro-gun control group you can think of.

Millions of post cards and emails. All at once. Preferably the same day as the BOR Strike.

They’ll try to hide it, and lie about it. But the next time they run another fake survey/poll purporting to show how much we love gun control, they’ll know in their black flabby hearts that we know.

And are watching them.

Pranking: Print a bunch of 8.5×11 signs, tape them to cardboard backing, and staple them to stakes.

PROUD TO BE
GUN FREE
HOME

We dial 9-1-1
for the children

Go out one night and stick them in random yards. Or maybe not so random.

Variations: Take a picture of the gun-free zone signs at the mall, and photoshop it: “designated helpless victim zone”. Print, a little double-sided tape, and  voila!

But I hope no one spells out “2A 4EVER!” in some anti-gun HOA yard nazi’s nice bermuda grass lawn… with fast (and high) growing rye grass seed. (Broward County residents definitely should not spell “COWARD” in Sheriff Israel’s lawn.)

And when the lying bastards pass the gun control laws, there’s always malicious compliance. Just think of how many individual “large-capacity ammunition cartridges you could file separate paperwork on.

Elections: In case you hadn’t noticed, the Republicans have broken every promise on gun rights (and several more). There’s really no point in voting Republican just to keep those nasty anti-RKBA Democrats out; they’re effectively two branches of the one big Boot On Your Neck Party. As someone said, more or less, no matter who you vote for, Washington wins.

So make your November (or earlier primaries) vote count in a different way.

Write in “John Moses Browning.”

On the bright side, if the Republicans get tossed out, we’ll only have to watch out for the Democrats’ next infringement(s), without sneaking glances over our shoulders to see if the Republicans are about to stick another knife in our backs. Again.

Bumping Off the Truth

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is either a liar or mentally incompetent. If not for President Trump’s pro-gun control history, I would question his judgment in appointing Sessions to head the Department of Justice. If Ted Kennedy were alive, Trump would probably have nominated him for National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator.

As noted on Friday, President Trump and AG Sessions announced a coming ban of bump-fire stocks (“bump-stock-type devices,” as the rule notice so eloquently puts it); no grandfathering, get rid of it or go to prison for possession of an unregistered NFA item.

Not to mention PANTS.

The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) uses the same docket number as the December ATF proposal, so it isn’t clear whether we’ll get another formal chance to submit comments. The press release says there will be a 90 day commenting period, but that docket number makes me wonder.

I did send a comment to the Attorney General via web form (2,000 character limit). The White House is next on my list.

But let’s look at this. From the AG’s announcement:

Today, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Department of Justice is proposing to amend the regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, clarifying that bump stocks fall within the definition of “machinegun” under federal law, as such devices allow a shooter of a semiautomatic firearm to initiate a continuous firing cycle with a single pull of the trigger. (emphasis added-cb)

Sessions opens with an outright lie. And he didn’t simply misspeak.

The NPRM makes the same blatantly false claim:

Specifically, these devices convert an otherwise semiautomatic firearm into a machinegun by functioning as a self-acting or self-regulating mechanism that harnesses the recoil energy of the semiautomatic firearm in a manner that allows the trigger to reset and continue firing without additional physical manipulation of the trigger by the shooter. Hence, a semiautomatic firearm to which a bump-stock-type device is attached is able to produce automatic fire with a single pull of the trigger.

No, they do not. Firing still requires the trigger finger to engage and operate the trigger individually for each shot fired. After the firearm is MANUALLY pulled forward again with the shooter’s off hand.

In general, bump-stock-type devices — including those currently on the market with the characteristics described above — are designed to channel recoil energy to increase the rate of fire of semiautomatic firearms from a single trigger pull.

No, they do not. The “rate of fire” from a “single trigger pull” is still… 1.

Shooters use bump-stock-type devices with semiautomatic firearms to accelerate the firearm’s cyclic firing rate to mimic automatic fire.

NOT IN THIS UNIVERSE, where the cyclic firing rate is determined by the internal physics of the firearm. Bump-stock-type devices merely assist the shooter in returning the firearm to the ready-to-fire position, and maintains the trigger finger in an optimum position, at which time the shooter manually operates the trigger for the next shot.

1. Pull the trigger a single time and immediately move your finger forward off of the “ledge” (or “finger rest”). If the firearm continues to fire without further operation of the trigger, it is a machinegun. If it does not continue to fire, it is not a machinegun.

Bump-fire Banned

Let me drop this here before the sun sets.

Obama Administration legalized bump stocks. BAD IDEA. As I promised, today the Department of Justice will issue the rule banning BUMP STOCKS with a mandated comment period. We will BAN all devices that turn legal weapons into illegal machine guns.

— Donald J. Trump, 1:50 PM – 23 Mar 20181:50 PM – 23 Mar 2018

In case you’ve forgotten how stupid (and contrary to physical reality) this is.

And yes; The Zelman Partisans opposes this. Accepting this is in no way a compromise. We did not get reciprocal carry. We did get a dangerous Fix NICS. And this isn’t a merely bump-fire ban; it’s effectively a ban on semiautomatic firearms (and if you think Feinstein, Schumer et al aren’t aware of that, you weren’t paying attention): parts is parts.

I’ll try to dig up the official commenting URL tomorrow night.

Preemption

Mayors want to pass gun safety laws, but the NRA and our state legislatures won’t let us
Nearly everywhere gun violence can happen, local leaders are blocked from taking action to help prevent it, And as recently highlighted by the Campaign to Defend Local Solutions, the consequences of defying the state can be grave.

Oh dear. Our brave mayors can’t protect us because state preemption laws tie their hands. Sounds terrible, eh?

As Paul Harvey used to say, “And now for the rest of the story.”

Some 64% of murders have prior felony convictions, typically for prior violent crimes. That means that –under existing, enforceable — laws, they are prohibited persons unable to lawfully possess firearms. Yet somehow they are free to walk the streets and kill.

Some 88% of firearms used to commit crimes — including murder — are stolen. Theft of a firearm is a felony under existing, enforceable — laws. Possession of those guns — regardless of prior criminal history is a crime under existing, enforceable — laws. Yet somehow criminals are free to walk around with stolen property.

Murder, of course, is also illegal. Raise your hand if you’ve read a news report about a murder with a prior conviction for killing someone else. Raise your other hand if you wondered why that person was on the streets.

Now ask your mayor (and chief law enforcement officer) why.

Then ask them why they want to end preemption of laws targeting those who haven’t committed crimes against victims, when they will not or cannot do anything about existing violent criminals with the tools they have.

“Mr. Mayor, you want a local law making my rifle illegal even though I’ve never committed a crime, much less one with that rifle? Even though rifles are almost never used in crimes according to the FBI? But you’re willing to ignore the criminals with stolen guns? Why is that?”

Yeah. Why is it that they want to — continue to — ignore the known class of violent offenders, and go after honest folks?

Oh hell. Never mind their motivation; ask yourself if you really want to give more laws to incompetent clowns who are incapable of using what they have now. Ask them why you should hand a chainsaw to a moron who failed to use a hacksaw correctly.

Prediction: They’ll likely tell you that those existing laws against murder, theft, possession of stolen property, probation violations, and so forth are… incomplete, and that laws punishing honest folks who get their property stolen are needed to catch the bad guys.

Answer: Bull shit. They do catch the real criminals.

And let them go. Because trials and incarceration are expensive, and locking up your voter demographic isn’t conducive to reelection. Letting feral predators roam free is much cheaper (and ensures more votes), so long as they only prey on the little people who don’t matter to pols in plush offices.

And then something like Mandalay Bay, Sutherland Springs, or Parkland happens, and the wrong — i.e.- politically inexpedient — prey is slaughtered. So it’s time to arrest the offenders call for more laws making atrocity-of-the-day even more double-plus ungood illegaller.

And to regulate the ones who didn’t do it.

Why’s that? Pretend you’re a Coward County Sheriff’s deputy. You can go after someone with a long history of violence, or you can sleep in your car. If you simply must [be pried out of your air conditioned vehicle with a crowbar to] go after some miscreant, would you choose to pursue known violent offenders who might hurt you (and whose arrests might impact the mayor’s vote totals come the next election), or would you rather go after those with no criminal history? Who are more likely to comply without violence, ensuring you make it home at the end of your shift.

And if you scream, “We need new laws!” loudly enough, you might distract folks from the fact that you and your glorious city leaders aren’t doing your effing jobs.

Feelin’ Triggered

It seems that recently Fredericka Whitfield, a cnn #FakeNews anchor had a segment talking about the school shooting in Florida. The one where the FIB ignored tips and the police never followed through on the myriad of calls they had on Bucket O-Chum. So guess who they had on as a SENIOR analyst? Yep, an FIB dude. Some guy named Tom Fuentes. Tom is everything cnn #FakeNews would want in a senior analyst and everything we would expect in a cnn analyst. Tom thinks female teachers are incapable of carrying concealed.

From the transcript:

And then the fact that they have the gun come out when the uniformed police arrive and do what they’re supposed to do, run in, they’re liable to get killed because all the police are going to see is someone waving a gun around and they’re coming into an active shooter situation. So, you know, that adds to the danger.

And then one of the things that people don’t talk about, a lot of these schools — Sandy Hook had an all-female faculty from principal to teachers. And for a woman, where are you going to hide that gun during the day? You can’t put it in your desk drawer, somebody might steal it and you can’t get to it.

You’re not going to have it in a safe in the principal’s office, you can’t get to it. On your person, hiding it — if you wear a dress, if you wear a skirt, are you going to have to wear a jacket every day with a belt and a holster the way a detective, you know, on duty would do?

It’s not a real practical solution even for a variety of reasons much less being adept is more than just pulling the trigger and making the bullet go down range.

WHITFIELD: Right. And the comfort level, all of that. You know, so many teachers have arms open. They want to hug their kids. I remember that from my school teachers. And certainly that would present a real problem of where exactly to put the gun if it comes to that.

FUENTES: Oh, yes. The kids are going to be “hey, Miss Jones, are you packing?” I mean it’s just not a good situation for it.

WHITFIELD: All right. We’ll have you back. Tom Fuentes — thank you so much. Appreciate it.

Let’s start with that “waving a gun around” part. Apparently since Tom is former FIB, that type of behavior must be de rigueur for the FIB. When they aren’t running guns to Mexico. He must think armed citizens behave that way. We don’t. Tom has seen one too many movies apparently, I don’t care if they were training films telling the FIB how we, the unwashed masses behave. We don’t. We apparently behave far better than the FIB, since I wouldn’t, and don’t personally know concealed carry people that would behave in such a manner.

Shall we move on to the for a woman, where are you going to hide that gun during the day part?

I know, hard to believe this is a serious question. But like little Julie Bandaras from FOX who apparently doesn’t know anyone who has every bought a gun legally, this idiot doesn’t know any women who are smart enough to be prepared protect themselves.

It reminds me of the story of the Pauline Kael political quote.

In December 1972, a month after U.S. President Richard Nixon was reelected in a landslide victory, Kael gave a lecture at the Modern Language Association, during which she said, “I live in a rather special world. I only know one person who voted for Nixon. Where they are I don’t know. They’re outside my ken. But sometimes when I’m in a theater I can feel them”

Then Fredericka of cnn #FakeNews chimes in,

You know, so many teachers have arms open. They want to hug their kids.

Right Fredericka, they are only capable of giving hugs, cause they’re women, right? If someone came in to hurt them, be it a crazed kid, pedophile, the unibomber, Chucky the killer clown, or muslims #ReligionOfPieces ala Beslan, they would only want to stand there and hug, they wouldn’t want to stop the SOB in it’s tracks right? Cause well, they’re women, and that’s all they can do? I have a hunch that “open arms” excuse is crap because in this age of #MeToo, I really doubt too many teachers feel safe to “hug” their students.

Ahh Tom and Fredericka, both up to cnn #FakeNews highest journalistic standards.

CNN has standards? Who knew!

So let’s talk about those elusive, at least for cnn #FakeNews journalistic standards.

From The Washington Examiner, No one would accept, in any other national discussion, the level of ignorance seen in the gun debate

Weinstein is correct when he writes, “The onus should be on those citizens who own the weapons technology, and purport to understand it, to share that understanding with the skeptical and less-informed.”

Beauchamp also notes that there’s a big difference between correcting a gun control advocate who’s “actually writing the legislation” versus “a random citizen deciding whether to support a new [assault weapons ban].”

And this is why that open discussion often doesn’t take place.

Because gun ban proponents don’t want to have a discussion. They just want to fling poo. The article continues.

It’s the ignorance of lawmakers, gun control activists, and media commentators that is inexcusable and insulting. Understanding the issue is the bare minimum required of their respective professions. Yet, so many simply refuse to learn the topic.

It’s things like Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., saying she opposes “rapid-fire magazines,” whatever those are. It’s things like Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., calling for a ban on “gas-assisted receiver firearms,” which are not real. It’s things like professional cable news commentator Steve Schmidt saying it’s harder to buy cough medicine than an AK-47, which is a damned, stupid lie.

No one would ever accept this level of ignorance and dishonesty in a similarly serious and emotionally charged debate.

No one would cheer if a pundit said it’s easier to get a late-term abortion than Sudafed. His audience would ask to see his homework. No one would shrug it off if a legislator incorrectly referred to a “trimester” as a “semester.”

……

Hell, no one would accept this level of ignorance from a traffic report. If a journalist referred to a pickup truck as an “auto-style speedbox,” he would rightly be laughed off the air.

Apparently neither Tom or Fredericka are aware that many everyday women are far more prepared to defend their animals, themselves and their homes than “progressive” women are to defend their children. It amuses me to think of the potential number of women these two twits may have passed on the street that are carrying concealed weapons.

I’m sure it would be a shock to them to know there are books with such topics covered. The Cornered Cat: A Woman’s Guide to Concealed Carry

There are great women’s concealed carry holsters.

There are beautiful custom handmade holsters.

There are shops with all kinds of amazing gear for women.

There are concealed carry purses.

So what it boils down to, Tom, is you are an ignorant, misogynistic, condescending miserable excuse for a man.

Women are capable of far more than you can even dream of. We cut down trees, we raise animals, children, work in the military, law enforcement, are legislators, take care of people and we can not only carry a firearm, we can deploy it and save the life of someone we care about. A concept foreign to you, the Sheriff of Coward county, and Captain Jan Jordan, who directed deputies to stage and form a perimeter outside Stoneman Douglas High School, rather than immediately entering the building during the mass shooting.

And ya’ll, ya’ll are the “professionals” that you and your ilk want us to leave our safety, and the safety of our families in your hands?  Oh HECK no. No thanks you miserable wretch. Bless your heart.

Because us real women?  WE can do pretty ok.

The Great Gun Control and Gun Confiscation Genesis

You know, somethings just come together as though they were those little metal slivers you used to have on your school desk and you used a magnet to attract them all at once. You would end up with something resembling a tiny metal porcupine in the end of your magnet. That’s how these articles seemed to present to me. So why should I be the only one with a little metal porcupine on the end of my magnet? Here ya go.

It all started with a post on FaceBook yesterday. It’s a re-telling of the start of the War for Independence in modern day MSM language. It’s a story I know and revere (yes, a tiny joke) from the many Appleseed events I’ve attended. Appleseed is a project dedicated to turning Americans back into the nation of riflemen and women we were a mere few decades ago.

BREAKING NEWS: Seventy-Two Killed Resisting Gun Confiscation In Maryland.

National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.

Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

And then it goes on further. Someone on my facebook page didn’t recognize it. They checked it with snopes. Oy. Snopes no less. A couple other people did and commented on ignoring history and don’t blink, it’s ready to happen. And the magnet gets closer to the desk.

Dem Rep OK With Only Rich People Having Guns

Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny Davis says it is acceptable for only wealthy individuals having access firearms if a 50 percent federal tax on all guns and ammunition becomes law.

“So if rich people can only get firearms then only rich people would be able to pay the price and if that could prevent some people from getting them, I’d want to prevent all people from getting them,” Davis told The Daily Caller. “But if rich people were willing and would continue to pay the high price, then I’d be happy that we kept the other group from getting them.”

Guesses on Demoncratic Rep having armed guards if he wants or feels he needs them? Much like Hollyweird who pushes gun control, having massive security for themselves during some show called “Oscar”. They were wearing little orange pins. I guess the pins are suppose to repel bullets? Knives? Spears? Bad reviews? I dunno, they use the tools often enough in their movies that get bad reviews. Well, at least from the few people that see them. We know I don’t usually go to movies. What did they have to worry about? They were protected by 500 of LA’s finest.

“We have these concentric rings of security that start in the middle and radiate outward,” said LAPD Cmdr. Blake Chow, the man tasked with overseeing the massive operation. “We have a lot of officers in fixed posts and foot beats keeping an eye on the event.”

Several celebrities plan to wear orange lapel pins on the red carpet and during tonight’s ceremony in support of gun control and the Michael Bloomberg-founded gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.

#hypocrisy #elitism #MoveTheMagnet

It’s like the brains in these people have dropped a chain off the cog or something. Or, as they used to say “they jest ain’t right in ta head”. Well, maybe not. Remember a study that came out in 2012 that said conservatives were psychotic? Science says liberals, not conservatives, are psychotic

Turns out liberals are the real authoritarians.

A political-science journal that published an oft-cited study claiming conservatives were more likely to show traits associated with “psychoticism” now says it got it wrong. Very wrong.

The American Journal of Political Science published a correction this year saying that the 2012 paper has “an error” — and that liberal political beliefs, not conservative ones, are actually linked to psychoticism.

“The interpretation of the coding of the political attitude items in the descriptive and preliminary analyses portion of the manuscript was exactly reversed,” the journal said in the startling correction.

Whoops. So, they really don’t think “right”. Yeah, another tiny joke.

This would explain at least to some degree why they feel that only the police should have weapons.

Two SWAT officers responded to the Parkland rampage uninvited. They’ve been punished.

Huh. Wonder if these folks still have their armed bodyguards, while the lives of we the unwashed masses aren’t worth protecting?

One of the other comments the War for Independence re-do commented it hasn’t happened again, yet.

Nope, wrong, it is. Dated Wednesday March 7th, 2018.

Seattle Police Begin Gun Confiscations: No Laws Broken, No Warrant, No Charges

A man in Seattle has had his gun confiscated by police after breaking no laws. The police took his gun without a warrant and without pressing any charges. Tyranny has officially taken hold on American soil.

……

Neighbors complained that the man had been “staring” at people through storefront windows while wearing a holstered firearm. He was not brandishing his weapon by any account, and open carrying is legal in the area, so he was abiding by the law.

The short article is well worth reading.

And this is only the start, a friend made a point of me seeing the following video. He thought a lot of people needed to see it, he’s right. And we don’t have much time, less than a week now.

We do not want a country run by liberals with an impaired thinking process, a bunch of elitists, hypocrites and power hungry politicians reacting to crisis actors who dine on tide pods. And as the good Congressman points out, a bunch of Repubs are going to be sellouts.

Gun control and confiscation are “Treif”

And now you have your own little metal shavings porcupine.

Julie B. at FOX NEWS ate the Tide Pods

So I got an interesting, if slightly outraged message tonight.

Did you hear what that chick on FOX said tonight?

Um, just finished up a lovely Shabbat, reading a good book, drinking some good coffee and not watching TV. You’re going to ruin my good mood aren’t you? Yep.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/5744551412001/?#sp=show-clips

It would seem some newscaster, I don’t watch decided to go full auto stupid. Yes, indeed, that is a tiny little joke. Some news personality on FOX news decided to speak authoritatively on guns and the Second Amendment. Indeed, she spoke with great authority, with facts? Not so much.

She starts out with it’s the right of every US Citizen, ok, good start Julie. The the effect of the Tide pods sets in. It’s the responsibility of lawmakers to prevent those who “don’t deserve the right to own one” from getting them. It’s not an infringement on the Second Amendment to stop arming the mentally ill. She realizes some will ask “how do you determine who is mentally ill?” But she says it goes past mentally ill.

Um, Julie, when did you decide to hate Veterans, and do you kneel during the National Anthem as well?

The VA is restricting veterans’ gun rights without due process

The VA, in making the determination that a veteran requires a fiduciary to help them manage their money, is additionally making the decision that the veteran cannot handle a firearm, either. The VA is not conducting an evaluation to determine whether a veteran is a threat to himself or herself or others, requiring a medical determination verifying the veteran is displaying signs of violence, or notifying the veteran his or her Second Amendment rights are being eliminated. The VA simply reports the veteran to the federal National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) system and makes the “mentally defective” judgment of the veteran by default.

She has the novel idea that background checks should include criminal records!!

Wow, Jules, what a concept!

And any history of violence or drug abuse!

Lautenberg Amendment

Great idea Jules, maybe they could like have some kind of form the could fill out before they buy a gun and answer those questions. Like questions 12 b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i for example. Check out form 4473 Julie, listed for your convenience below.

4473

And they should require training. In Israel for example you need a doctor’s note proving no history of mental illness and drug abuse. You must also demonstrate you can use your gun at a firing range before you can take it home with a limited supply of bullets. I think she actually meant the whole cartridge though. Um, Julie from Israel Give the Good Guys Guns. Then she wisely explains to us that a correctly aimed bullet does what it is supposed to do. There doesn’t need to be thirty. Then she lectures us to think for a second, does an American need an assault weapon to protect themselves, target shoot or provide food for their family?

Gee Julie, I’m a little uncertain, what exactly is an “assault weapon”?

The she informs us we’re not applying for a driver’s license here. No kidding? Cars and Trucks as Weapons of Terror Um, Julie, perhaps you could clarify for me which of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights that you never studied in school involves transportation?

Then she rattles on that just like our police and military get the proper training to use the weapons, so should civilians. I think she is unaware that unless a state has Constitutional carry you do have to pass a test to get a concealed carry endorsement.

Then she sanctimoniously lectures us that owning a gun is a right, but it is our responsibility to carry one responsibly. Obviously from her New York ivory tower she is unaware that gun owners and concealed carry holders are some of the most responsible people out there.

She doesn’t seem to understand, it’s not the inanimate object that is of any threat, it is the hand that holds it.

It seems to me, our ill informed Julie is confusing you and I, law abiding gun owners with a bucket of chum who had been reported to the FIB, and the police had visited his home 39 times.

Julie, this is a law-enforcement failure because of a deal struck for money. Why don’t you investigate that? Why doesn’t that bother you?

But you did great on your cnn #FakeNews audition tonight, you’ll be great there, really.

Julie says she “wants to have a conversation about it on twitter”. @JulieBanderas ‏

Bless your heart.

Firearm Trainers and Second Amendment Activists, What’s Your Reputation Worth to You?

I got an interesting email the other day. It was warning about a scam that seems to be very well funded and quite sophisticated. The goal of it seems to be to tarnish the reputation of firearms trainers and Second Amendment activists and leaders.

The set up is a documentary that is being filmed by a group calling themselves “First Freedom Television”. They say they are working on strategies to keep communities safer in the 21st century. That an Israeli security expert will be taking part, and that the “documentary” will be shown in Israel. Apparently the people that they asked to take part in it are treated to very lavish accommodations, travel expenses are paid and a driver is provided.

The first report you can read in it’s entirety here and comes from Philip Van Cleave the President of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. He said partway into the interview and demonstration his spidey senses were tingling. He said he was shown a video of a 4 year old in Israel who had used a gun to stop terrorists in his school.

….the interviewer was making claims about Israeli schools training selected children to use firearms from age 17 down to age 4 (!) as a last ditch effort in stopping a terrorist attack on a school if the teachers and security staff had been killed. The children would have codes to unlock secured firearms in such a case.

When I balked at 4-year-olds being able to do that, he showed me an alleged newscast video on his iPad. The text was in Hebrew, but with an English-speaking narration, talking about how a 4-year-old boy had indeed stopped a terrorist attack at his school. The newscast said that he killed two terrorists using his dad’s gun, which he had brought to school in his backpack to show a friend, in violation of school rules. Israeli Premier Netanyahu was touting him as a hero in the video.

Hmmm, interesting. The last time I was in Israel I talked to a very interesting man about ordinary citizens in Israel being able to concealed carry. It’s not that easy. When he moved from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv he wasn’t allowed to continue carrying his weapon. In fact, it’s really not all that easy to get a concealed carry permit, or even a gun in Israel if you’re a civilian. Of course soldiers have them, but I remember during the last intifada that they were trying to loosen restrictions so more people could get guns and carry them. Residents in Shomron (Samaria) and Judea can obtain them easier I believe, but plenty of crime happens everywhere. Of course the criminals can seem to find them anywhere, even on Har HaBayit, the Temple Mount. So.

So perhaps the 4 year olds father is in the military. I don’t know that many fathers who would leave their service weapon laying around so it could be stuffed into a backpack and taken to school. For another where would he have taught the child to shoot? Ranges are not prevalent.

In a column from 2014, Moshe Feiglin of the Zehut political party pointed out Gun Control? Or Citizen Control? Then in 2016 he called for more citizens to be allowed to carry weapons. Give the Good Guys Guns. Hopefully Moshe will be Prime Minister soon.

From there the erstwhile filmmakers wanted Mr. Van Cleave to help them make a “safety video” for children of all ages. Which involved hiding guns in stuffed toys. And making gun noises.

Mr. Van Cleave feels to point of the video is to discredit and harm Second Amendment people. He said they seem to set up near gun shows and are good at hiding their tracks. He said they were very good an mental manipulation, and seemed to have everything well thought out.

It turns out he isn’t the only one they have gone after. Ammoland got the same offer An Attack On Gun-Rights Leaders Is Underway – Spread The Word! The comments are interesting under the article as well.

The end goal was to get the victim to make a “training film” teaching 3 and 4-year-olds how to shoot guns hidden in toy animals at “bad” people, to sing little songs and make gun noises during the training to make it “fun for children,” and even teach little kids how to shoot a rocket-propelled-grenade or a squad automatic weapon at an approaching suicide bomber vehicle!

UZI-CORN?? Seriously, well, there was also “Puppy pistol”.

But the fun doesn’t end there, they are also advertising on Criagslist for “Patriotic folks” to participate in a training style docu-show for a TV series. Ammoland has screen shots.

But, back to Israel teaching 4 year olds to shoot rocket propelled grenades and guns….yeahhhh, only if you understand that Gaza IS part of Israel, AS IS Judea and Shomron. In fact, the disaster known as Gaza is pretty much what the two state solution looks like. You know, the one constantly in “humanitarian crisis”? Ok, that’s another story, they keep electing Hamass, ok, another story….

Why, Sheila, whatever do you mean?? I mean it’s not Jewish or Christian Israelis teaching their 4 year olds to kill. It’s the “piece partners”in the Gaza strip, and one has also been run in FA territory. Yep, summer terrorist camps for kids.

PICTURES: Kids at Hamas Summer Camps Learn to Shoot at Israelis

So, yeah, if you count the Muslims occupying Israeli territory, that are teachingtheir 4 year olds to kill. Ok, but you know what? That isn’t the side that this group represents itself as supporting. So this stinks. And from the people that did do interviews with this group, there is plenty that stinks.

So be aware. I keep thinking about that buffoon Michael Moore and how he tried to ambush Charlton Heston, this has that set up Soros, Bloomburg, Moore stench to it.

And as long as we’re on the subject of school safety…

I realize no sane person probably watched the cnn #FakeNews townhall for information. Entertainment purposes perhaps, comedic relief? But not really for information, because it is cnn, where they follow the script to the letter and expect their actors to do so as well. Even if they were real people who didn’t want to follow a script.

But here is some information I doubt they covered.

We know that Bucket O’ Chum had been reported to the FIB, we know that the police had visited his home 39 times, although Coward county’s finest says it was “only” 23. Well, ok, well, then.

We know that four of Coward County’s finest sheriff’s deputies coward behind their patrol cars with their pistols drawn when Coral Springs police officers rolled up on the scene. One of them, the only armed person for the school. Their resource officer was outside the building. Which of course, means Bucket O’Chum had a clear path. There was no one inside that could have stopped him, because they were keeping the children safe by being in a “gun free (except for the killers) zone”. Well, perhaps one of the deputies was a leader in the Hamas-related Council on American-Islamic Relations, he is also a Broward Co. deputy. He stays busy training the men in his local radical mollusk to shoot. So understandable why he would think the slaughter of the children is ok I suppose.

But heres one you may not be expecting. Apparently some of the school districts, starting with Miami-Dade made deals with local police departments NOT to arrest their students, well, no more than absolutely necessary. Because it makes their stats look bad. And if their stats look better, the school gets more money.

The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to “improve their statistics” and gain state and federal grant money for improvements therein.

It’s important to remember that this was not an arbitrary change; this was a well-planned fundamental shift in the entire dynamic of how teenagers would be treated when they engaged in criminal conduct.

In essence the thugs and criminals, misguided youth, little darlings got a free pass. And since statistics needed to continue to improve, bigger and more violent crimes had to be excused as time went on. Gangs quickly jumped on the bandwagon and began to utilize more school students for their crimes since the police most likely wouldn’t do anything about it. This came to light back after the Trayvon Martin shooting.

Which is most likely why school resource officer Petersen wouldn’t share information on Bucket O’Chum with social services or anyone else who might have put him in jail or sent him to a psychiatric ward.

Somehow, I don’t think cnn, msnbc #FakeNews or “First Freedom Television” #Fake Television also, will be doing a real townhall or “documentary” on any of that.

But above all, just remember, in a crisis, the police are just a cellphone call and only moments away….except when they aren’t.

Sheriff Scott Israel (ah, geez, really? That had to be his name?) and fast friends. Hmm, may have found the problem.

Broward Co Sheriff and buddies

In last weeks Parsha, in a commentary I read, the Rabbi quoted Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. He talked about how Moshe told the children Do not despise an Egyptian, because you were strangers in his land. (Deut. 23:8), but of the Amalekites Moshe commands, “Remember.” “Do not forget.” “Blot out the name.” In Exodus the Torah says that “G-d shall be at war with Amalek for all generations” (Ex. 17:16). The Rabbi raises the question “Why the difference”?

Short version, because the Egyptians had a reason for fearing the Israelites, they were growing to be many and to be powerful. They feared if they were ever attacked the Israelites would join with the invaders. But the Amalekites? They attacked the weak and stragglers that were of no threat.

When hate is rational, based on some fear or disapproval that – justified or not – has some logic to it, then it can be reasoned with and brought to an end. But unconditional, irrational hatred cannot be reasoned with. There is nothing one can do to address it and end it. It persists.

I would maintain that the anti-gun leftists, the Soros and Bloomburg groups are Amalekites. They will NEVER be satisfied with compromise on a right. They will just keep coming back and demanding more. No matter how many innocent people have to die they will just keep pushing the lie. No matter if they tarnish reputations, ruin lives or enable tyranny, they do not care because that is their goal. They hate the idea of self-defense, freedom, liberty so much they will tell any lie, allow any number of people to die needlessly to further their agenda. Blind hatred that cannot be reasoned with or bargained with. Nor should we try.

So what is your reputation worth? To the 2nd Amendment people who have dealt with this scam, whoever is behind it, their reputation matters. But they are willing to put it on the line to get the word out to warn others and protect them from it. To the Sheriff who was apparently in full virtue signaling, gun control mode who spent his time at the cnn #FakeNews townhall attacking the NRA and it’s representative, it is hollow, falsely built up reputation. He seeks to enhance his by doing nothing of value and causing harm. He knew at the time his deputies were outside the building as the children were being killed. Unless he is dumb as a box of rocks, it should have crossed his mind had a teacher been armed perhaps the carnage could have been lessened. None of that mattered. Blind unreasoning hatred. His reputation is dust, may the wind soon blow it away.

[UPDATE] That’ll be our first one-term president in a while

I wish I could be surprised, but even before Trump began to look like a serious candidate– well before he got the R nomination — I warned that his new-found verbal respect for RKBA was belied by a long anti-RKBA history.

Trump pushes ban on ‘bump stocks’ — devices that turn weapons into ‘machine guns’
President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he has recommended that “bump stocks” — devices that let semi-automatic weapons fire hundreds of rounds per minute — be banned.

Trump signed a memorandum recommending that Attorney General Jeff Sessions propose regulations that would declare that bump stocks are illegal because they effectively turn legal semi-automatic weapons into outlawed machine guns.

I told you the fix was in.

Age limit for buying AR-15 assault rifle ‘on the table’: White House
The White House said on Tuesday setting an age limit for buying AR-15-type assault rifles, the type purchased legally by a teenager who shot dead 17 people at a Florida high school last week, was under consideration.

It will be interesting to see how they define the restricted firearms. Will they include California-compliant “non-assault weapon” ARs, bolt-action rifles, revolvers, pistols, and pump-action shotguns?

White House on ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban: ‘We Haven’t Closed Doors on Any Front’
NPR’s Mara Liasson asked, “In 2000 [President Trump] did support an ‘assault weapons’ ban. What is his position now?” She followed her own question by asking if President Trump supports “reinstating” the 1994-2004 federal “assault weapons” ban.

CNN reported that Sanders responded by saying, “I don’t have any specific announcements, but we haven’t closed the door on any front.”
